I surveyed my mother Laticea and my friend BriOnna. My mom used her church choir as an example and BriOnna used her job. The church choir would be considered a social group, because the rules and norms are less formal than BriOnna's group home which would be considered a problem solving group. In the church choir, member's are more relaxed when it comes to dress code. When dressing for service, approriate church attire is required but there is no uniform. BriOnna's job however, requires them to wear scrubs and closed toed shoes. Both my mother's choir and BriOnna's group home are in the emergence phase. BriOnna feels that everyone has a sense of understanding, regarding their roles and moving forward. The choir has also made progress from where they originally started, but are not completely at the reinforcement phase. …show more content…
It is important for everyone to understand and follow these norms. For instance, when I was in a dance group, whenever someone had difficulty with a move, the entire group would go over that part multiple times until everyone undertsood it. During my survey, I learned that it is imperative for members to follow the attendance policy. For BriOnna's job, everyone in the home is required to communicate with the supervisor regarding their attendance. If someone is going to be running late, they inform the supervisor so she can inform the other employees that may need to stay later. This also affects the employee, because they receive an occurrence for the tardiness. In the choir, attendance isn't as strict. The director prefers that the everyone is there on time because it ensures they can get a great rehearsal in, however, if someone is running late, the consequences aren't
Bruce Tuckman has a theory which contains of four stages; these are forming, storming, norming and performing. His theory is about group development. The first stage is forming, this is when a group is reliant on one particular leader, if the leader is not there and someone else tries to take charge then the confusion starts. The leader makes sure every individual is aware of their role, if the leader does not make them aware, then their roles and responsibilities are unclear. For example in a class room everyone will be speaking to each other, when the teacher comes in and tells everyone to settle down then they will do so. The second stage is storming, at this stage everyone hasn’t
The forming stage is characterized by dependency, and need for acceptance and guidance. In this stage the "meet and greet" is done. During the meet and greet each member gathers information that will determine the strength of potential relationships amongst group members, as well as establish group hierarchy. Generally, in this stage the leader of group is selected. The group leader has a tendency to be someone that is viewed as stable and
The forming and orientation stage of the group is the initial step of getting the group started. Gladding (2012) outlines seven steps that make up the forming stage of group development. First, one must develop a basis for the group.

Norming - this is the stage “it can be done”. Group cohesion takes place. Ref: Ann Gravells as above.
This stage sees group members begin to confront each other as they begin to vie for roles within the group that will help them to belong and to feel valued. Thus as members begin to assert their individual personalities, the comfort of the forming stage begins to come under siege. Members experience personal, intra and inter group conflicts. Aggression and resentment may manifest in this stage and thus if strong personalities emerge and leadership is unresponsive to group and individual needs, the situation may become destructive to the

This will help reduce the nursing turnover that we are facing every day and improve our performance and provide best care to our patients. If everyone schedule shows up for work, our clients will receive better care and be easier on other staff members. This will help reduce burn out or stress that is associated with not having enough staff on the floor due to people call in every day. Currently at the center I work they don’t have a set policy. Once in a while they will give employees who miss work a number of days a verbal warning and sometimes they will give written warnings. This is not done all the time, I have been working at this organization for a couple of years and I have only seen the management give written warnings to people who miss to show up for work only
How I work in a group depends on the group dynamic. During the forming stages of the team I always like to take a short amount of time to see how the different roles of the team are being met and filled by others in the group before I determine which role I will like to take on. When it comes to Base on my ISI, The Belbin teamwork quiz and other personality quizzes that I have taken I can take on the role different roles depending on the needs or circumstances. According to my ISI results and other personality assessment there are three or four "Team Roles" or individual behavior that I exhibit when I work in a team. In several group projects taken on the roles as group leader. I’ve initiate discussion and ensure that everyone is included in
