Richard Leonard Kuklinski, known as “The Iceman” was born April 11, 1935. Kuklinski was a contract killer who was convicted of 5 murders. Kuklinski was given the nickname “Iceman” for freezing a body of a victim to mask the time when the victim was murdered. Kuklinski lived with his wife Barbara Kuklinski and 3 children in the suburb of Dumont, New Jersey. Prior to his arrest, his family was apparently unaware of Kuklinski's double life and crimes. Kuklinski was a contract killer for Newark's DeCavalcante crime family and New York City's Five Families of the American Mafia. Kuklinski favored to murder people with sodium cyanide since it killed very quickly and also was hard to detect. With Cyanide, Kuklinski would simply kill the victim by either injecting the cyanide in them, putting it in the victim’s food, aerosol spray or spilling it on the victim’s skin. After killing his victim, he will dispose the body in a 55-gallon oil drum. Other ways Kuklinski would dispose the body were either burying the body or putting the body in the trunk of a car then having it crushed in the junkyard. Kuklinski says that Robert Pronge, nicknamed “Mr. Softee” has taught him different methods to use cyanide to kill his victims. Pronge allegedly asked him to carry out a hit on Pronge's

A Rifle could shoot a bullet up to 1,000 yards–and were more accurate. However, until the 1850s it was nearly impossible to use these guns in battle because, since a rifle’s bullet had roughly the same diameter as its barrel, they took too long to load. (Soldiers sometimes had to pound the bullet into the barrel with a mallet.)

     Riffles were another major contribution to the war, as far as weapons were concerned. The union forces had One of the most popular riffles was the Model 1861 Springfield Musket. The Springfield Musket weighed 9.25 pounds, had a twenty-one inch socket bayonet, and fired a .58 caliber mine ball traveling 950 feet per second. Riffled Muskets, which were also known as Enfields, were the second most popular riffles in the war. These Enfields, had a bore diameter of .557 inches, and weighed nine pounds three ounces. They were accurate at 800 yards, and could travel up to 1,100 yards without any difficulty. During the course of the war, 400,000 Enfields were sold to the Union troops, whereas a mere 20,000 were purchased by the confederate army. Although this weapons wasn’t as popular as the Springfield, the Enfield still packed a powerful punch at 1,100 yards (Ripley 43).

For a piece to be considered art, it would need to have effort or work put into it by an individual. Anything can be considered art, if you put your mind to it. A couch, for instance, can be a work of art because somebody put effort into it to make it an appealing piece for an individual to want or desire. For my artists painting from the Art Prize, is it obvious he put lots of work and effort into it to show the most intricate details and it almost puts on a “dreamy” feeling.

The Union soldiers were more likely to carry the U.S. Model 1861 Springfield Rifle-Musket than any other weapon. These guns were not the easiest or most convenient weapons even if they were the most common. The Model 1861 was a .58 caliber gun, was 58.5 inches long, and weighed in at a heavy 9.25 pounds. This rifle was nicknamed "The Widow Maker." This nickname was made with great thanks to the minie` bullet which was an integral part of this rifle-musket. The combination of the rifle-musket and the minie` bullet forever changed the face of warfare; thus because for the first time ever, men could aim at a distant target, and have a decent chance of hitting it. This luxury allowed the gun-bearers to hide in a safe place, yet still be able to knock down their target. Colonel George Hanger, an American Revolution officer, wrote in 1814:

A smooth-bore musket is a type of gun that is smooth on the inside. The bullet is pushed through the smooth barrel and can be launched about eighty yards. A rifled musket has a groove and is spiraled in the inside. The actually bullet is closer to the trigger and can shoot four hundred yards. These two different guns bring their own importance to the war because of the new, easy way killing someone became. The rifled musket seemed more effective in the long run, but the smooth-bore musket was just as useful. 620,000 Americans died (although a majority of the death was caused by disease) during this tragic war.

Muzzleloaders are the weapons that Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone carried afield with them during their bear hunts, Indian fights, and battles. Today there are two basic types of muzzleloaders used for hunting—primitive and in-line. Both are based upon the premise that the shooter pours powder down the end of the gun barrel, and then rams a slug or ball down on top of it to load the gun.

committing a crime. As a society, we have the upmost interest in preventing murder, so we use the strongest punishment available to deter this crime, and that is the death penalty. The U.S. ranked fifth in the world in capital punishment, alongside China, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq (Merino, 2015). Our society seeks to be good, defined as moral, upright, wholesome, and virtuous. None of these terms are associated with capital punishment, and we should abolish capital punishment for several reason. (U.S. News & World Report Weekly).
