Known to all as the foundation upon which we stand, the helping hands and guiding leaders of our global society are both the world’s tools for progression towards unconditional happiness. Kindled by religious enthusiasts and community leaders, these aspects of support and guidance are embedded in families, societies, and the future generations. Service and leadership make up the thread of our society. In homes, both parents and children can serve and lead. In the public aspect, advocates of religion, advisors in community service or social mediators for peace all have the ability to support and guide the neighborhood. I open up this perspective to my family, so that they may see that service and leadership yields goodness. Through comical relief and consolation I lead, and through values I serve, helping to build up my family for this goodness, the more heartwarming experiences in the days to come.
Arms stretched, palms wide open, I dedicate myself to my locals for their needs and wants. I believe that I am created by my God, as it is stated in my religion. In addition to that belief, I am part of my God, and since that is so, I am created to create. In my community, I assist in the creation of environments where locals feel free to accept God and be transformed by Him; as social beings we are prone to meeting other people, and in meeting other people is the source from which these traits are formed. I boost my neighbors’ morale, by telling them they are greater than what they perceive themselves as. In my youth group and confirmation classes at my local church, I am an advocate for my religion. By giving out my knowledge of God to my peers, I enhance their understanding of Him and our religion, and inspire them to live vicariously of Jesus. I’ve brought out this positivity through performing Christian Pop music, leading in bible study, answering questions about Christianity and bringing peers together in fun activities. NonCommissioned Officers are the backbone of the Marine Corps. Each leader is very different from the other. Some Marines enjoy being a corporal only because of the increase in rank and pay. A few become the tactless leaders junior Marines try to avoid. Fortunately, many others strive to become the leader that other Marines wish to emulate. They know what it means to be a good leader. Throughout my life I always thought the little things that we do to help people in our community are the things that made the biggest difference. I learned in church one day on a Sunday about how to improve ourselves to get closer to God. The pastor said that we are so busy with our daily activities that sometimes we get distracted on things that matter the most. Sometimes even though we might be busy, we should just take a brief moment to help others in need. That is why I find community service important because you are not just building our career we are also building our character as a leader and as a citizen.
I’ve grown up with the influence of strong women in my life, a lot of which came from my sisters. One of my sisters was a member of National Honors Society and she always taught me in the ways to conduct myself like a member would. So growing up I would always try to be the best person I could be whether that means by studying my hardest, leading the way for my peers and other generations, doing good deeds for others, or building my character. I would try to tie in the values to make me as unique and individual as I could.
In the changing business environment, leaders of all organisations may face unprecedented uncertainty, especially the technology advancement and changes among the employees. To survive and succeed, leaders should have some necessary attributes. Meanwhile, some changes for leadership skills have to be made to confront the challenges.
Every leader in the U.S. Army have a different leadership style. During my thirteen years in the Army I have seen several leaders placed in positions where it was obvious that they were born for that position, performing admirably and making very real contributions. In other situations leaders were placed in positions of leadership appearing unprepared for the role. These leaders over time were soon surrounded by other leaders that ensured their success. In the past four years of my life, voluteer work has left an indelible mark on my heart and mind. When I became a voluteer, I had a very vague notion of leadership. As my high school days come to an end, I am left with the feeling that I have finally come into my own shoes, discovering the things that are important to me and those that are not. I have found my personal leadership style, and I now pay attention to the leaders I come across each day. For this reason, voluteering has been both an enlightening and inspiring experience, for I am surrounded by peers, mentors, and the voluteer program director, all of whom are leaders with creative visions of their own.
As I stood on the fields of the Battle of Belleau Wood at the Aisne-Marne American Memorial Cemetery I reflected on the men who had fought where I stood one hundred years ago. I thought about the sacrifices they made, the hardships they endured, and the friends they lost.
