I think that a six-hour work day should become standard in the United States. As stated in the article most people do their best thinking in the morning and late afternoon. This mean workers will be more willing to help out or even work harder, aslo means they can get a good night sleep. Who doesn't like a good night sleep? There still should be over time, for workers who need a little bit more money.
Even school times should be changed to six-hour day's. As stated in the article British boarding school classes were changed from 8:30 to 10:00 in the moring, while doing this student grades improved by an average of 19%. This would mean there could be chance of less people droping out of school and or skipping class.
The down fall
There is no reason why schools shouldn’t extend the school day. The obvious solution to these problems is just to extend the school day and turn it into the four day week. Changing this can help the students now and the soon to be students by giving them a better learning experience and end up doing better in life in general. The extended school day has been used in some schools across the U.S. and has proven to work just as or better than the normal day. The extended school day will not only affect the lives of the students helping them to succeed it will also better our society if the next generation of workers are well educated and
If an hour and half of school were added every day, students would miss after school activities. Students will miss the fun extracurricular activities. and students won’t get the exercise they need.
The hours of school should be changed. Let’s be thoughtful towards teenagers and give them an extra hour of sleep each night. It won’t hurt the younger kids to get up earlier, as most of them wake up at dawn anyway. Unless you want to see groggy kids walking into school, who pulled all nighters studying, and can’t stay awake long enough to take their test. More sleep equals improved
Schools should adopt an later start time. This would improve students grades and mental state because they would get more sleep. According to the article, Sleepy in Seattle: Schools move start time to manage teens' need for zzz's, more and more school districts around the country are trying to give students later start times. This is because of a few reasons. First of all, the American Academy of Pediatrics, a professional group of pediatricians, say that later start times can improve students life in many ways. Also, the CDC or Center of Disease Control, pushed for later start times. The CDC is a government agency, who's goal is to protect public health and safety, pushed for later school start times. This is because research show that later
Times have changed since 1914 and we are still having issuses when it comes to the work environment. Both articles have made strong arguments; on what would be the best solution and how it would benfit not only the workers but the employers as well. However I agree that six hour days would not work. Either the workers lose two hour wages everyday or the employers hire more wokers for the jobs that are not being done due to only having six hours. All of the employees that they are forced to hire would not get a quarter of their pay because they are not full time. The people that only work the six hours would not be able to get health plans the full time workers are entitled to. Not having health care is stressful; that is living with the worry
Schools are so much a part of our society, so the accurate length of school days is extremely important. Public opinions on the length of the school days are different. There are a lot of parents and professors concerned that it is hard for children to go to school early in the morning and stay there the whole day. On the other side, some professors try to force students into a nine hour school day. Not so many years ago, school was a main part of my life, and the school days’ structure and length affected my social life and ability to study. From my own experience and some studies that I have seen, students benefit if school days are long.
I think that the United States could go to the six hour work day. People in the past have done it and it was a huge success. During the Industrial Revolution people had to work 11-12 hours each day with little pay. Later on in the 1900s, Henry Ford changed the work hours for his employees and they showed great amounts of success. Ford doubled their pay and they did the work 2 times faster and more efficiently.
A regular school day is 8 hours, but if they extend school to 10 hours students will not be used to it and stop listening. When that happens they will not remember a lot of things, and their scores will go down. Also, they will have to not be able to do after school activities, and after school activities can help students to make more friends. If they can not make more friends, then their social development will not grow and children need that in their life if they want to have a successful
In our stress ridden country, so focused on the hustle and bustle of work, we have lost sight of how to relax, and enjoy family time. With a six hour workday people can enjoy work, and life off-duty without feeling like they have to trade one for the other. Change will take time, and be difficult, but it is
In an office job, perhaps shorter, six-hour workdays would be plausible. However, if a job such as construction or something else requiring physical labor were to have six-hour shifts, many more people would have to be employed to complete the job on time. This means it costs an employer more money, and that could be quite dangerous for his
The school board plans to add one and a half hours to school each day. I agree with the school board to add a half of hour one reason is because tenneagers like to stay up late and not sleep. Dinwiddie school starts at 7:35 and most people wake up around six, they don't get a lot of sleep.
Introduction:I disagree with adding another hour of school because the students don't need to be at school all day. They need to be at home so they can rest,do other things.
In the event a six-hour work day was proposed, and should take effect. One would have to take in the consideration of the wages loss in that 2 hour period, as stated in the second paragraph of the section entitled Six-Hour Days Will Never Work. I personally feel this would pose a great problem for the average working class in today's society. The working person already feels compelled to take in
The 4 day work week is not a new idea. It is one that has had its share of controversies over the years. Introduced in the 1970’s the idea of the 4 days work week has been making a comeback as of lately. There are several issues to look at here. One of the main statements in regards to it is that productivity will decrease because of fatigue. A 10 hour work day is too long. On the flipside, another of the main issues pointed out by proponents is that productivity will increase because you will have a workforce with higher morale. In this paper, we will discuss
Some people think that we should have an 8 hour school day. Having a longer school could help
