Looking back at American History, we can see many instances where bravery and courage combined with a leap of faith changed the course of our country's history. The declaration of independence was perhaps the most significant of all those actions. In the late 1700's Britain began abusing their colonies in America, this did not sit well with the colonists, and soon people could no longer endure such unfairness and hardship. America was recognized as an independent nation, no longer under the control of the British or any other European power. Yet in the years following the revolution, the United States’ history and policies were still greatly influenced by the actions and conflicts of foreign powers. Between the French Revolution in 1789 and the War of 1812, the United States was more involved in the European conflicts it might have prefered. In the years of 1789 to 1815, Europe greatly impacted American history and policy, although the United States still developed independently to a certain extent.

United States History, or U.S. History for short, is a course that explores the history of the Americas and how they were formed to come out the way they are today. At Clackamas High School, students have the option to take regular US History as well as Advanced Placement U.S. History (APUSH). Although the two classes are similar in content, the rigor and depth of information differ immensely between the two courses.

Many Americans today are extremely uneducated and misinformed when it comes to the history of their nation purely because they find the learning of it boring.
