Herzog, and Iver (2007) followed 12,972 Philadelphia students enrolled in traditional middle schools from six grade (1996-1997) until 1 year beyond their expected graduation from high school (2003-2004) in order to understand what indicators would affect their projected graduation date. Unlike many of the early K-8 schools, the population Balfanz et al followed consisted of "64% African American, 19% White, 12% Hispanic, and 5% Asian students. planning by thinking about her learning objectives and standards she would like to cover. She thinks about what she wants her students to take away from the lesson and moves forward from there. Before beginning, Mrs. Ortinau considers what her students have learned in previous grades, and she tries to expand on that as much as possible. She tries to compare the new material to material the students have learned in the past. This can be done by reviewing standards covered in sixth grade as well as communicating
Introduction I will be discussing about a course called EL7002 E-learning instructional strategies. I have just finish this course. It was a doctoral course. I will explain why this course do not stand up to my expectation. There will be six questions throughout this paper to explain the course. In what ways, did you find the course too difficult or too easy. The course was confusing and easy in some ways. I enjoyed taking the course. fifth, and sixth grade class, I observed how the teacher began each lesson by writing the standards on the whiteboard. The first duty of the students was to read and write the standards in their notebooks. In a lesson in a fourth grade English Language Arts class, the standard was CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.4.4.A. This standard covered the use context (e.g., definitions, examples, or restatements in text) as a clue to the meaning of a word or phrase. The objective of this lesson was for students to think
Classroom Factors: Mrs. D’s Sixth Grade Science Classroom When one first enters Mrs. D’s sixth grade science classroom, one immediately notices that the space is very limited. While her rectangular classroom is structured to seat about 35 students, there is very limited walking space, which forces Mrs. D into a lecture-based teaching style, where she spends most of her time at the front of the classroom. teaching, learning styles and techniques. Being able to observe a few different classrooms has given me an opportunity to witness different aspects of teaching. Through all of my observations during college of teachers I am confident that teaching is what I want to do with the rest of my life. I will touch on a few topics from my observation throughout my paper such as, the objective of the lesson, types of methods the teachers used, differentiation instruction, ways the teachers assess learning in the
strategies, and student responses to the teacher. I will also discuss classroom set-up and give my impressions to the effectiveness of the teaching style and perceived student response to the learning activity. Overall, I felt that both teachers were amazing in their own style and kept the students engaged and on learning task. I observed Dylan Wittstruck’s ninth grade, 50 minute, Pre AP Trigonometry class at Thompson Valley High School in Loveland, Colorado. There were 26 students in the class sitting

For many years students have been forced to learn low cognitive level information that lacks meaning and fails to transfer to real life situations
