Pinterest, launched in March 2010 and founded by Paul Sierra, Evan Sharp, and Ben Silbermann, constituted its success in being a search engine designed to discover information on the internet, mainly utilizing images and on a shorter scale, GIFs and videos (“Pinterest, 2017). After finding this information, users can then formulate ideas through pinning these images, GIFs, and videos to designated pin boards. The pin boards can be organized by categories and subcategories. These boards can be shared with individuals you follow, so they can pin ideas to your board as well. This allows transparency to view other perspectives of diverse cultures and lives by viewing snaps from around the world. Snap maps also allows users to see where their friends are located on a map. Another feature snap has is it includes the availability of different news outlets one can see, which gives snapchat a means of communication but a means of receiving news as well, which is a crucial factor on why it will be significant in years to come and has laid a groundwork in transparency with news and communication. Vine was founded in June 2012 by Dom Hofmann, Rus Yusupov, and Colin Kroll. Vine was the platform for small scale video share of 6 seconds (“Vine,” 2017). This outlet challenged the field of creativity for its users being videos had to get a point across in 6 seconds. Users could then share other people’s vines to their profile and like them to keep the videos saved. Users can comment and instant message others about these vines made. According to adweek.com, Twitter had bought Vine in October 2012 for 30 million dollars. Twitter had then shut down vine four years later because the application was not able to keep up with the competition of Instagram and Snapchat (Heine, 2016). Videos created from vine are everywhere; these vines are shared on different media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube.
