No matter where you’re at sociology influences your life and the way you think, the things you do,and the way you see things such as society as a whole. You may not think so but sociology but it does in several different ways such as your culture, your education, and your childhood. Culture is a huge part on how you see the world and other people. For instance my parents and family raised me to be respectful. I was disciplined and had strict parents for the most part. If my parents didn’t raise me this way no one knows where I would be in life. The American culture is different from many other cultures, and how you were raised is different as well. Charles Darwin (page 75) led people to think that certain human activity was instinctive or natural, such as women being naturally emotional and men are naturally rational. Today we still think about and wonder about what Darwin had done and we still do think certain cultures ways of doing things are weird and abnormal but,if we were raised that way we would think it was normal and the others are weird. For instance here in Northern Michigan along with other parts of the United States we think hunting is normal and a cheap way to provide food. I’ve always hunted or went with my father. But people in say Los Angeles California think it’s cruel and not right. Everything you do is reflected not only on your culture but also how you were raised to see examine the culture. Have you wondered if your source of education could impact your life? Education is an important thing as we all know, but does where you go to school and how you are taught affect how you see society as a whole? The answer is yes, in fact school enlarges a kids social world. I have always been in public school which some people view it as bad and that private schools are better and more one on one. My family went to public school as well. We didn’t have a lot of money when I was younger so i couldn’t have gone to private school if I wanted to. My mom did not finish high school although my father did. My brother was very smart and Me well I’m an average student I would say. Going to public school as well as any school you are expressed to many different types of people in the society around
Take a moment to think about the following question: what is culture? Culture is everything a person does, believes in, creates, came from, and has done. It is also so much more than this simple list, but this is a good idea of what it generally is. Culture affects a lot of things as well. It can affect what you do, how you do certain things, and how you see things comparison to others. Culture is a major factor in how people perceive the world and those around them. Everybody sees the world differently through their cultural glasses. Some people see things as foreign and confusing, while others see the same things as daily life. The idea of different cultural viewpoints is shown in many articles throughout the years. Each of these stories
Sociology is the study of social life and the change and consequences of human behavior. Human behavior is social in nature, the topic of sociology ranges from divisions of race, gender and sociology of work and sports. In my opinion, sociology is one of the few fields which have such a broad scope and relevance for breadth, depth and application.
Sociology is all about society and how we as humans interact with one another in our environment. Every person is different, and every person comes from different backgrounds, and the different environments and the different ways people are raised pretty much determines how their life will turn out. Social forces that have shaped my life are family, education, gender, and the media,

After reviewing the article titles given for this first assignment, I believe they indicate that Sociology, generally speaking, is not only a study of diversity or commonality in traits among people; it is also a science about factors in a person’s life and how these factors culminate responses. Interestingly enough, its topics of concern seem to be directly determined by current and common events of the world. Through the invention and expansion of new ideas, popular trends and fashions through time, Sociology adapts to responsibly to service the very subjects of interest it studies; for, even the slightest change of a person’s daily experience can have an insurmountable impact on attitude, personal growth, family
After a careful study and a deeper research on an introduction to sociology, I have come to understand that no problem can be solved well enough if one does not have the sociological perspective which is defined as a way of looking at the world through a sociological lens. In fact, there is the need of the lens that will help one to view situations and have the eye to emerge through different views to solve that problem. This mirror has become a doorway that will help one to have a beginner’s mind to approach problems.
M2 - Use different sociological perspectives to discuss patterns and trends of health and illness in two different social groups
How would you describe your inner mind? crazy? genius? They say that both are two sides of the same side. Through my experiences, I shape the world around me, developing a unique perspective from my worldview. When it comes to how I perceive reality I just summarize it in these six concepts: culture, meaning, self, self-fulfilling prophecy, and scripts, and self-serving bias. My culture defines me down to my very genetic core. It explains why I drive the way I do, how I talk, what is socially acceptable, why I react to things the way I do , why I attend LIU, etc.
Which of the following groups have the highest incidence of use and abuse of alcohol?
According to Durkheim, Social fact or social phenomenon are the main subject matter of sociology. He said in one of his pieces that social fact must be studied distinct from the biological and psychological phenomenon. Social order is the trend of behavior being used to exercise power over another person. It has become rules and regulations that have been set up by some authorities to be obeyed by another group of people who are being undermined in a society, it is a situation that oppressed people and limits them from their liberties. When people go through these situations they cannot function the way they are supposed to function because they are limited by their freedom. These social orders are not only laws but rather certain norms created by the authority to put a whole race into a situation where they are very far from freedom of speech, movement, and knowledge. African Americans are an example of a race that has been through discrimination at workplaces, schools, community etc. They are one race which has been a label or put in a class where the situation will never permit you to climb the ladder of success. Although you might have all the certification, qualification, the best schools, etc. but the fact that you came from the poor class or the lower class, it becomes very difficult for the Caucasian people to give you the opportunity you deserve, because of this, the citizens of American have been grouped into different classes which are upper, middle, working,
Sociology and sociological thinking are a vital part of society, and through examining both society and individuals, sociology is able to make changes to areas such as policies, and attitudes that may have usually negatively affected them, and instead gained a positive result through the careful research, and applied knowledge.
Sociology was created as an academic discipline for many reasons. Sociology is the study of human society, which is how humans interact with each other. It is very important to study society and social interaction in order to better understand why people act the way they do. If you know why people act the way they do and the reason why they do what they do, you can decipher why people did things in the past and what they may do in the future. People such as Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, and Max Weber all studied sociology in a way that expanded and made sociology the known, important field that ultimately resulted in the popularity. Sociology to me after taking this class means many things. Sociology is the study of human behavior and how humans development from the moment they are born. It is the study of how our upbringing, family, race, religion, and status effect us from the moment we step onto this earth. It is how other people see us and treat us in different ways. It’s about how people from different backgrounds all have different behaviors and different ways they effect society.
I thought the concept of sociology referred to how people socialize in communities. Little did I know that sociology study all aspects of life, including how society and people affect each other positively or negatively. I also did not know that sociology looks at what makes people exhibit behaviours that may deviate from the set norms and values of society.
