A sports dietician provides individual and team nutrition counseling and education to them in order to improve the athlete’s diet and health. They analyze the athletes and their eating habits and energy balance to come up with a personalized meal plan specific to each player to help with the athletic performance and their health. Sports dieticians also plans meals for traveling and may even travel along with the team. Another responsibility would be that they have to educate the team, coaches, trainers, and even parents with appropriate nutrition counseling. In order to become a qualified sports dietician, a bachelor’s degree in Food & Nutrition or Clinical Nutrition from a college or university in the United States is required.
