Diversity means difference. It recognises that even though people have things in common with each other they are also different in many different ways. Diversity concludes of non-visible and visible which include staff members, culture, personality etc. Characteristics that are included and protected under the legislation are gender, disability, age, race, religion and belief and sexual preferences. As being co-ordinator in the day centre it is important to understand that each staff member is different which will help enable a comfortable and productive environment within the day centre to ensure each individual client feels valued.
Please consider my request to be recommended to attend the Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy (SNCOA) in-residence course. This course provides a unique opportunity to develop strategic-level leadership and mentoring skills while increasing exposure to organizational culture of the Active and Reserve components. I believe that in my current position it is vital that I receive the opportunity to improve my techniques to enhance my leadership abilities and skills in order to mentor our future leaders and develop valuable management tools to aid me in future mission challenges.
Ever since the creation of the social media phenomena, I struggle with understanding and participating in this digital cyber activity. At first, I was amused with this technology because you can communicate with others faster. I use to compare social media to a digital pen pal. However, it evolved into something much greater, which can have a major impact on social change in a global society. As a result, we are now faced with finding and developing leaders who can use social media to influence change. Moreover, the author argues that there is a gap in competent leaders who can effectively lead change using social media. As leadership educators, our purpose is to prepare students to be relevant and productive members in our society. We are

SPC Snow, You currently have three years, 7 months’ time in service, and exactly two years’ time in grade. I currently will not recommend you for promotion until you have shown me you are capable and have the potential to handle the responsibilities for promotion to the next rank. The selection of a team leader is of key decision that can have a great impact on the overall success of a team. A good team leader should be able to build and maintain team morale, instilling confidence and trusting in other team members allowing them to work together to achieve the teams goals (Llopis, 2014). The ability to understand the stages of a team and provide the guidance to all members is essential. The stages of forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning (Abudi, 2010) are a helpful framework for recognizing patterns during team conversations and the understanding that team development may not always be linear. The aptitude to walk the team through these stages and ensuring they understand the development of the team and why things are happening in certain ways is an important part of the self evaluation process. Having ways to identify when certain behavioral patterns are occurring and a way to then cause changes to the team behavior can help the team maximize its productivity.
According to Finzel (2007), everyone wants to feel needed, which can be an issue with delegation. At times, leaders may not have enough projects to delegate to everyone on staff. This may be viewed as loss of value. However, the value of the leader is to coach and lead – not micromanage. In addition, to dispel any thoughts of supervisors devaluing staff (Finzel, 2007).
Going into my senior year, I am one of the few juniors who can say I have had a regular place and appearance on Columbus’ Medley Service Club since freshman year. Medley Service Club has allowed me many leadership opportunities both within and outside the meetings. Within the meetings, I have taken leadership by note taking
By having so much exposure to young adults, I know that I will be one of the people that have a direct impact on them. I always find the greatest pleasure in hearing that I am their favourite senior cadet or that they are thankful that I pushed them beyond their limits. In addition to the sea cadet program, I am also involved in the leadership within my school. I am the head of my school’s leadership team in which I spearheaded my school’s annual grade nine orientation and I am currently in the midst of planning a weekend in May for leaders among my school board. As a leader within my school, I have gained countless opportunity to work with others. For example, during my school’s grade nine orientation, I know that many of the grade nine students looked up to me and would like to follow a path of interschool leadership. In planning a three day weekend for 350 leaders in the TCDSB, I have a fantastic role in working with eleven other individuals to prepare a fun-filled weekend that has always made a lasting impact on me in previous

Similarly, United States Army has extreme concern with the specific preparation of Soldiers. Therefore, it has developed a program called Physical Readiness Training (PRT). The program’s goal is to train Soldiers to be ready to work in hard duties and sustain activity in assignments or in combat roles (FM 7-22, 2012). The PRT has a high concern with Soldiers health, presenting preparation, recovery, strength and mobility, posture and body mechanics activities. The PRT has three phases to develop in Soldiers the correct physical condition: the conditioning phase, the sustaining phase, and the reconditioning phase. First, the initial conditioning phase is responsible for the practice part in order to develop the movement skills the correct way and prepare Soldiers for the next phase. The second phase is the sustaining phase. This focus phase is to achieve in Soldiers a higher level of physical readiness required in specific tasks and maintain the level achieved. The last phase is the reconditioning phase. During this phase, the intention is to restore the previous physical fitness levels of Soldiers (FM 7-22, 2012). During PRT phases, there is concern in following the principles of the PRT, such as precision, progression, and integration, in order to provide all advantages of the program. Furthermore, the PRT tries to develop the endurance, the strength, and the mobility, considered fundamental components to the success of the
I can completely relate to everything that you talked about. I tend to gravitate towards being the leader because I know that I will do a good job and turn things in on time. One thing that has been good for me to learn over the past few years is how to be a leader while being a follower. A strength that I know I have is that I am confident in myself and alot of times people who struggle with leadership just need someone who is confident to reassure them of what they are doing so they can learn to be confident in themselves. Although at times it is difficult for me to give control to someone else I know that the best leaders are also people who can be supportive followers.

Captains of sports teams are given the stereotype that they are the most athletic player on the team, scoring the most goals and handling the ball best. In truth, captains have a lot of work they have to do that doesn't even involve playing the sport. Captains are the most looked at player of the game; other players, younger kids and coaches look to them to set examples. They have to set examples in every aspect of the game; athleticism might be part of their job but it is not limited to it. The captain of any sports team must set the leadership standard for commitment, confidence, intelligence, and attitude.
