An Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) is an advance nurse who has a master’s, post-master’s certificate, or practice-focused doctor of nursing practice degree in one of the four specific roles. There has been a significant increase of advanced-practice registered nurse programs (APRNs) and licensures since its beginning 50 years ago. Advanced practice registered nurses attain a minimum of a master’s degree or a doctorate in nursing, which is certified by professional or specialty nursing organizations.
