Please describe a few pronounced strengths and accomplishments that you have observed. Entering college, straight out of high school was a new and difficult transition for me. I wasn’t used to the systems and rules in college, because compared to high school they are drastically different. Christina was very helpful in that new transition and I am glad she was. Christina knew how difficult adjusting to a new environment would be and she made it a million times easier. She would spend the time to go over what classes I needed to take. She would help me make decisions that I couldn’t make by myself. She was always available to meet with me and answer my questions, whether it was at an advising appointment or through email. One thing that
For instance the strength of being restorative has shown me that I need to work on not trying to control every situation and solve every problem someone has. I need to let them figure out how to solve their problems and just be a sounding board for them when they need it. Being a mom it is hard to not just jump in every time my boys face a difficult situation and just solve it for them. They are young men now and I realize that I need to take a back seat and let them figure out where their life’s road will take them and to be there to listen and help as they ask me. Hard, yes, but a necessity. By doing the assessment and finding out what my top three strengths are I can use them to in the best way possible to achieve the goals I have for my life both personally and professionally. I realize that being deliberative, my belief system and being restorative are my strengths and not weaknesses and I can now capitalize on those strengths at work and
I have several notable accomplishments, most of them are of academics. Some of the awards/accomplishments that I can recall ever since I was in middle school are: First position on spelling contest, department award for the most Helpful student, Student of the quarter, Presidential award for educational excellence (Gold Seal), 4.0 Honor roll, Indian Classical dance, Achieve3000 state winner, department award for “Excellence in English Language Acquisition,” and Academic Excellence Lettering Award. Among all these awards and recognition, I consider Achieve3000 to be the greatest because it was a state level competition and was moderately competitive to win. In the Achieve3000 program, basically, an individual has to compete with the students
With a year full of hurdles I was set to overcome, senior year did not seem like the right time for me to defeat my dragon. My introverted qualities have grown tremendously over the course of my life due to traumatic events I have been forced to face on my own. Since adolescence, I have always been known as the “quiet girl” in the room. I always took this as a compliment, until recently, when I realized I was missing out on crucial events that would help prepare me for the future. Through careful consideration, I decided that senior year would be the ideal time to slay my dragon, introversion.
I was struggling. That much was evident from the pile of papers that surrounded me; unfinished assignments just waiting to be completed. That being the case, there were numerous obstacles I encountered during my earlier years in high school. Between studying for tests, completing homework assignments, and balancing job/after school activities, the only thought on my mind at that time was to challenge stereotypes thrown at me. Being raised in a Mexican household, there were common misconceptions about our race of how we lacked ‘certain abilities’ and I wished to contradict their thoughts. Making my parents proud was the first accomplishment I needed to complete; showing others what I was capable of was an added bonus.
I moved to Abilene before my freshman year of high school, so I have spent the last four years at Wylie. I have had many accomplishments during the past four years. As a freshman I played Freshman Football and was a part of the Varsity Baseball team. During my sophomore year I became a member of the National Honor Society (NHS), which I remained a part of for the last three years (2013-2016). I also participated in the UIL Computer Science Competition Team as a sophomore, NHS, and was a returning member of the Varsity Baseball team. I received the honor of being All District Pitcher 2014 in baseball. As a junior I was a part of Student Council, NHS, and Varsity Baseball. 2015 brought me the honor of All District
“My high school career has been busy. A positive of it being busy is that life never gets boring, but a negative to me always being busy is that sometimes I want to take it slow and relax," says Kenton Stover, son of Ken and Amy Stover. When Kenton does get time to relax, he enjoys doing Powersports mechanics, hunting, fishing, hanging out with his girlfriend, and being free in this great country. Kenton is involved in FFA, FCCLA, he is the chapter president of Skills USA, he is the senior class historian, and Stover attends Votec at State Fair Community College studying building trades; Kenton also plays baseball and basketball.
The strengths she disclosed about herself was that she is a strong, determined, and organized individual. She also states how her mother, father, brother, boyfriend, and several close friends are her support system.
Foundations of successful career considerably rely on the early college life successes. It is a commonly believed and supported that, for a successful career, strong academic records are highly pivotal as they provide a solid and impeccable foundation to the career. And this can only be achieved through engaging oneself in all academic courses which are taught in every class of high school and college life. For this objective, undivided attention, effective time management, at college level for all courses are those fundamental conditions that bring and ensure academic success. Based on this perspective, U.S. high school students who engage in early college high school courses are more likely to have early
I have many strengths that I will bring to Mrs. Dickson’s classroom. My strengths include being a hard worker, great organization skills, being able to follow directions, able pay close attention to detail and I am very patient. I believe these strengths have been proven by my grades in school and the fact that I have never been to ISC for bad behavior.
Throughout high school, I have received many awards for my outstanding efforts in school and also in my community service projects and activities. I love helping out the community and my school in that I can help others.
In high school all freshman 's were taken on a trip upstate to Camp Ramapo, of course everyone was excited to go, little did we know we were all in for a surprise. Upon arrival we all realized that our cellphones had no service we all thought it would be a momentary situation, turns out it was not. We would spend 3 nights and 4 days disconnected from the world, no Facebook, at the time aim, or text messaging. I remember we were all shocked and mad at the thought of not being able to use our phones. The trip started off poorly everyone seemed disinterested in participating in activities, so the camp consolers decided that we would all break off into small groups. It all appeared to be pointless because still no one was willing to participate in the activities, but suddenly we were all asked to share our names and something interesting about ourselves. After we had all shared things changed suddenly, I personally began interacting with people who I had not spoken to at all throughout my first semester which was shocking since I had class with most of them. After the 4 days were over, I came to the realization that those had been the best days of my life. I was able to meet new people even though they weren 't necessary new in my eyes, I participated in activities I had never done before, and most of all I wasn 't so worried about who had and hadn 't texted me, or what the latest news/gossip was. It took this trip for me to realize that I was so disconnected from my
I graduated from BCHS in 2012 and got my high school diploma, where majority of the extra curricular classes I took were in the arts with a goal aiming towards film making. Outside of school I would work on electronics and help my mom with projects around the house since it was the two of us, so we would frequent menards, especially when I started making spray paintings. Right now I'm helping my grandparents around their house with general maintenance, but I would like to do so much more for them.
I will be more candid and I will make sure I am well-known throughout my grade. I will become more oriented with clubs and I will try and even get into sports to become even more known. I want to be known more so I stand out and so that colleges can see that I am a good student that is trying her best. My classmates help me more than they know, and I to them. Social skills is a big step towards anyone's career. It is a big step into life from high school. I will continue to converse among my peers and me, and my classmates will look back and thank each other.
A lot of middle school students have no idea what to expect when they first enter high school.I,as you thought,am one of those students.I have mixed emotions about high school because some people loved it and others hated it.Here are some things that I think about it,am looking forward to,and dreading. Most of what I’m going to say is based on my brother’s experiences.
Looking back, there are a plethora of interesting accomplishments I have attained throughout my high school career. I swam with dolphins in the Bahamas, I bring smiles to faces while working at a nursing home 3 times every week, I was privileged to admire the beauty of the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City, and I was invited to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York. I could go on to discuss how one of these entitlements shaped me, because they definitely did, but instead I would like to write about something that I have dedicated everything for. Something that controls every decision I make. Something I am so passionate about, that my application would be incomplete without it, and that is marching band. Being in the marching band has turned the last four years of my life around completely by teaching me time management skills, giving me the opportunity to constantly perform, and allowing me to build relationships that I have only ever dreamed of having.
