Multiple learning styles and "multiple intelligences" used for developing study habits is a relatively new approach. Educators have only recently recognized the brain activity proof to re-evaluate traditional schooling and its emphasis on Linguistic and Logical teaching methods. Research shows that once you recognize your own learning styles, you can use techniques better suited to you and expand your style with additional ones. You can try to improve your learning ability by involving more of the brain during studying as research shows that each learning style uses different parts of the brain and, by involving more, we remember more.
According to this current research, learning ability may be enhanced by developing mixed-style study habits that will see you through many varied learning experiences. The seven styles of learning, or what researchers call "multiple intelligences," are the following:
Verbal (linguistic) Style. A method using words both in speech and writing. This
In school everyone learns differently; however, according to the article The Myth of Learning Styles, “The idea of learning styles is based on a theory… developed in the early 1980’s.” (pg 1.) A lot has certainly changed from the 1980’s as we learn new more material in every class we take. With this being said, someone the scientists referred to in the article “assumed” that learning styles challenged the way of the educational system when in reality, it is simply a myth. Students, like myself, only prefer to process information that they find useful or interesting to him or her. Thus giving us the problems of that teachers may take too long to cover one idea, and students may miss out out on information because he or she did not prefer that learning style.
We all learn in diverse ways, inclined by the combination of our past educational experiences, study practices and personal approach to particular tasks. This can be designated as our learning style, defined as ‘particular ways of gathering, processing and storing information and experiences’ (Cuthbert, P.F., 2005).

The learning style I identified with is read/write. I basically learn things better by reading and writing things down. As you read and write things down it makes it easier for me to remember things better. If I continuously re-read things, I would remember them for a long time. And if I re-write things I’d be ably to remember it for a long time as well. Because I remember better if I read I always keep a highlighter near by because if I highlight something I know it’ll be important and it will make it easier for studying for test. Not only that, because I use different colored highlighters it makes me remember things more also. Yes, I did know that this was my preferred learning style before completing this assessment because,

Education benefits individual mentally, emotionally and physically by placing them in better place than they were previously before. Everybody would agree that learning something new would take place throughout the life. Learning style defined as "A term that describes the variations among learners in using one or more senses to understand, organize, and retain experience" (Reid, 1987, p. 89). Furthermore, Felder and Henriques (1995, p. 21) explained learning styles as "the ways in which an individual characteristically acquires, retains and retrieves information". However, different learners possess different characteristics and different preferred learning styles to perceive, process, take in and understand information.
Personal learning styles are highly complex and unique to specific individuals. It is often difficult to pinpoint an exact learning style. Though there are different categories, we often fine tune them to our own abilities. By examining our traits and tendencies we create a clearer understanding of how we process and learn information. With careful review, I have developed a specific analysis of my learning characteristics, including an evaluation of skill levels. Based on what I have recently learned and know from experience, I have also devised a structured plan for improvement of time management and study skills.
The world is composed of more than seven billion individuals. With the large number of inhabitants that are on Earth, people are bound to have differences between them. One area where differences can be seen among individuals is their ability to learn information efficiently and effectively. A publication from North Carolina State University called Learning Styles and Strategies written by Richard Felder and Barbra Soloman, discusses the various learning styles and strategies that people use in order to understand material, and how those styles vary depending upon the individual.
Learning styles are an aspect of personality and are categorised through visual, auditory and/or kinaesthetic mediums. An individual may have a mixture of the learning styles and can be modified by choice or circumstance. The individual will learn more effectively through their preferred learning style. For example, a person who does not focus or gets distracted because of noise (auditory) may be better at building models and better at crafting (kinaesthetic). Visual learners learn by pictures, diagrams, charts, films, handouts, etc. Auditory learners learn through listening and speech. Kinaesthetic learners learn through practical hands-on
In week 2/3, I learned how I learn in class or doing homework. I also learned ways to have good time management. I learned that I am a student like doing when learning in class or somewhere else, which means I like to do questions, apply trial and error, practicing what I learned from the chapter that I learned in class. I want to learn more than 1 learning style because I want to use the 2 learning in different situations when learning. I want my 2 learning styles to be doing and watching. It will be more useful when in class, so I can apply the knowledge to questions, but also understand the concepts / knowledge by watching what the professor is saying. There are three learning styles: auditory, Visual, and Tactile.l. I tested out as a Visual style learner so they say I should write out the information I want to learn, use flash cards for memorization and explain diagrams and concepts in writing. I do some of this now but I plan to do this in a more organized and deliberate way and start with my first reading of the text. The article on learning also suggests that we verbilize and work with other students. I have not done this much before but I will try it this semester. I could be more efficient with my time and be more dedicated to education. I seem to be very busy, so I will have to re-think my approach to some
As humans, we differ in many ways and our personalities allow us to react and deal with situations as accordingly. However, just as our reactions differ according to our personalities, as learners, we too have preferences to which style we opt for, according to our suitability. There are various styles to learning; based on the work produced by Kolb, Peter Honey and Alan Mumford developed and identified four learning styles which include Pragmatist, Reflector, Activist and Theorist. It is said that in order to achieve the best of our academic abilities, one must understand and use the learning style which is best suited to maximise themselves.
