Supervisor’s expectations of the supervisee may consider readiness to learn from the assigned tasks that is given, paying attention to detail and appropriate procedures, taking the initiative on tasks, follow-through on assignments, being open minded to the supervision process, willing to seek assistance, being flexible, and having a cooperative and supportive attitude. Some of these items are some of the examples I overcame to my supervisors as being a supervisee which made my experience a successful one.
Supervision is a mechanism that allows the supervisor to support, discuss and develop the knowledge and skills of each employee. It is the process in which a supervisor is able to encourage and support the employee to complete their role effectively.

My supervision is always held in a confidential setting, between myself and my Manager. My Manager records details of what has been discussed, targets identified, and achievement target dates to be met by me and my Manager. This is my personal development plan, and helps me to record training received, training identified, and knowledge gained. My supervision is my opportunity to discuss issues I am concerned about. First time supervisors will experience great excitement when learning of their promotion and will become anxious to commence with their new position. One important area where a first-time supervisor may overlook are the stresses and struggles they will encounter. One interesting situation is that many new supervisors often solve problems and decisions by reacting to them and lack the experience to slow down and ponder on what the best possible outcome may be. New supervisors react stressed and feel as though they are very short for time when it comes to finding resolutions usually lack the necessary training because their technical experience may not be equal to that of a supervisor with a long tenure. New supervisors may feel overwhelmed too because they will be addressing questions and circumstances that are brand new to them and have no experience as to attaining a clear idea on how to delegate or know what kind of outcome to expect (McNamara, 2010).
Three traits that a good supervisor should posses include responsible, energetic, and punctual individuals. I have selected these traits because of the supervisors I have had these seem to be the determining factors when rating them to be good or bad. Responsibility is first and foremost your job as a supervisor to be able to successfully handle power and manage by making sure everything runs smoothly. Energetic, having a high level of energy and always showing how involved you are is extremely important so others can feed of your enthusiasm. When you see a supervisor who has no energy and works at a slow pace it gives off the vibe that not much is expected. A good supervisor will inspire, challenge, and motivate their employees. In addition, a supervisor has the ability to stay focused and is able see the big picture. However, one could possibly argue that the best quality that a good supervisor must possess is the skill to recognize the potential in others. Nevertheless, the most important skill a supervisor must possess is the ability to help those around realize their own potential.
Supervision strives to make the unit a good learning situation. It should be a teaching-learning process.
