(Heneman, Judge, & Kammeyer-Mueller, 2006, p. 27) When new employees bring in previous experience they are able to access current company practices and offer process improvements.
Tanglewood has organizational plans to staff open store associate positions on an ongoing, continuous basis. The first stage staffing plans must take into consideration is recruiting from the labor market. Tanglewood management team must clearly consider the different methods available as well as the associated cost benefits of each. This case study will provide Tanglewood with a recruitment guide for its open store associate position, describe the best targets for its recruitment, estimate the yields and costs of each method, and finally offer proposed recruiting messages. Our mission is to provide our expertise in management and staffing services of other organizations I’ll have recommendations on selection decision making for Tanglewood. Like many retailers, Tanglewood experiences a stable rate of turnover, and thus recruiting efforts remain high. The methods used by Tanglewood vary from many regions in which they serve, and by gauging these methods we are able to optimize and perhaps unify company operations. The Northern Oregon suggests an idea of using Kiosks and staffing agencies for hiring employees for all the stores, they believe this is the most accurate way that Tanglewood should use and implement to recruit new workforce; these methods have not only been successful Northern Oregon, but for South Oregon region too. However, The Eastern and Western regions have used a different approach, they have used the employee referral tool to recruit new employees, and it has been successful until the moment. I believe this region does not have a valid point, because if they decide to generalize the hiring and recruitment process into general ways as Kiosks and staffing companies, these other branches might start using and hiring people who does not have clearly understand what the needs, tasks, basic requirements and knowledge for the job are. Also, by implementing these new policies these branches might not receive the same quantity of people trying to enter the organization, and quality from the employees, affecting the working environment and results of these stores.

Affirmative Action remains one of the more complicated and controversial topics dealt with in American society. Affirmative Action is an action or policy designed to protect specific groups who suffer from discrimination, and provide them with programs and special opportunities. These government or private programs were designed to set right historical injustices towards the members of these groups who have suffered things like employment and educational disadvantages from racial discrimination. The goal for these actions are to redress past wrong doings by fixing things like inequalities in employment and pay, as well as increasing opportunities for education. By achieving this, the outcome would restore equal access and opportunity in favor of the members of these groups. These groups generally consist of certain minorities that have suffered from social ills such as slavery and segregation.
Even though Tanglewood has a niche in the market the organization should still be able to attract a qualified workforce. Tanglewood is in the retail industry, which doesn’t require specified or task specific workforce. The workers and managers are pretty much the same as any other worker or manager in any other department store around the country; the only different is can they adhere to the corporate policies and procedures of Tanglewood.
After analyzing the data and performing an environmental scan it is clear that the demographics of Spokane, Washington will present you will problems filling vacancies based on the Equal Employment Opportunity requirements. Spokane is the second largest city in Washington and according to my research 84% of these people are white. The next largest minority group, Hispanic, is only at 5% and the third largest group is mixed races which is just 3.8%. As you can see Tacoma, Washington is not very diverse and finding the enough competent employees from minority groups may be difficult given the fact that there are
There are a various amount of recruiting methods for the different regions of Tanglewood. It is imperative that Tanglewood consider improving their methods so that the company’s operation overall with excel. A certainty for improvement is to inspect the recruitment procedures and address encounters current and experienced employees may have. Creating guidelines for Tanglewood’s recruiting process and giving further evaluation to the current recruiting processes, Tanglewood will become an organization molded into the culture they would like to see.

Affirmative action was created to increase the number of people from certain social groups in employment, education, business, government, and other areas (LaNoue, G., 2010). This policy is geared toward women, and minorities such as African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, and disabled people. Generally speaking, Affirmative Action was put into place to benefit groups that are thought to have suffered from discrimination. Some believe that affirmative action is just a means for minorities to get ahead, but the benefit is for minorities to first of all

The focus of such policies ranges from employment and education to public contracting and health programs. The impetus towards affirmative action is twofold: to maximize diversity in all levels of society, along with its presumed benefits, and to redress perceived disadvantages due to overt, institutional, or involuntary discrimination.
