Sydney J. Harris once said “The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.” What that quote means to me is that I have not seen the world and the opportunities it has to show me, so I want be one of those teachers who can look into different states and countries and teach all different types of people. I knew at a young age I wanted to be a teacher. All those times I would teach my dollies, I was happy, energetic and communicated well; that still applies today. In planning for a career in education, I would be able to show many people what I can accomplish, and how all my qualities will make me a great teacher. Some various positions one can hold within the education field are school principal, superintendent, academic dean, …show more content…
Residency involves a mentor teacher and ongoing professional development. Ongoing professional development is enhancing one’s personal growth and job skills and improving one’s job performance in order to contribute to outstanding educational results for students. Ongoing professional development is important to teachers because it makes teachers better at their jobs. To renew a teaching license, teachers have to complete an Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP) every five years. A Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC), which is a group of teachers and administrators that oversee the licensure process for teachers in a school district, approves the IPDP, the licensure, and then the State of Ohio issues the license. Within ten years of getting a professional license, teachers have to obtain a Master’s Degree. After teachers receive their Master’s Degree, they must still renew their professional license every five years until they …show more content…
There are six arguments that support this statement. First, teachers are trusted by the public to educate their children fully and have their students for seven hours a day. Secondly, not just anyone can be a teacher and teachers test other teachers, which is how the licensure process works. Thirdly, teachers have a high level of education. In fact, teachers are in the top seven percent of the highest educated people in America. Then, teachers are part of a professional organization which makes decisions for teachers all around. This organization is the National Educators Association (NEA). Also, teachers are essential to society because they educate the children of America. Lastly, all teachers have a specialized skill set, which means that they are trained to be teaching specifically what they are
As a future educator, it is the my job to educate all students through means of teaching that enable students to be successful in health, fitness, leadership, character development, and accountability for their regular lives outside of school.
I see students as the next generations’ heroes in so many fields. In my vision, I have to inspire students and prepare them with confidence, knowledge, experience and skills. Which means I encourage, communicate, guide, teach, and assess students in order to enrich their infrastructures.
For me, the decision to become a teacher is more of a way of life than a career. I have always loved school, practicing at being school marm from a young age, and voraciously devouring every shred of education offered me in my career as a student. If it were possible, I would be a student for the rest of my life. And then I still would not have learned enough. As a teacher, I hope to instill this appetite for knowledge in secondary students. They are, after all, the future leaders of the world, and what better place to expand the minds of the generations to come than here in Appalachia where education programs, especially the sciences, which I plan to teach, are poorly funded and children’s dreams
I believe that with motivation and guidance, children of all backgrounds can harbor success in the educational world and receive the skills they need to have a successful and prosperous life. It is a teacher’s duty to encourage lifelong learning, consider individual learning styles and aptitudes, and self-reflect on how to improve. My experiences as an engineer, a person of color, a pre-service teacher, and a STEM advocate have culminated together to form my educational values and philosophy.
I always thought I would be a teacher and I would make differences in lives and it would be the greatest experience in the world for me, yet being a teacher wasn’t enough, I had a need to expand my education. I decided that perhaps I needed a new career, however, I felt certain education remained my passion. I began to explore new areas of education and I realized I still want to be a member of a classroom, a school and curriculum. I aspire to guide those leading our classrooms.
In today’s society it is nearly impossible to survive without an education. It is important that we have the right kind of teachers to accomplish certain goals. A good teacher is one who listens to their students and tries to answer any questions they might have about anything. I think that a good teacher should also be able to listen to others opinions and not argue with them but try to understand their point of view on the subject.
Teacher licensure has little impact on teaching quality because it sets too low a bar for entry into teaching (Koonce, 2016, pg. 216), and the licensing policy have been slacked just to make sure that there is a teacher
• You have worked in education for 3+ years as a trainer, PD provider, classroom teacher, or mid-level out-of-school time educator.
My motivation for teaching is setting the goal to make a difference in a students life. The feeling of teaching a child a lesson, and them understanding it, is a rewarding experience for a teacher. I have also been a babysitter for about 6 years, and being around children makes me happy and I love the relationships that I have built with all the kids I have cared for in the past. What really motivated me to go back to school for teaching, was this past summer after having the opportunity to be a camp counselor. While working at that day camp, the relationships and bonds that formed throughout the summer, are ones that I am never going to forget about.
My decision to teach stems from a desire to positively impact student’s lives by sharing my love of learning and showing them that learning can be fun. The teacher education program has taught me that each student is unique and it is my responsibility to meet each student where they are, making learning relevant, meaningful and comprehensible to them on a personal level. My best teaching experiences have been lessons that incorporate hands on learning that allows students to learn and express their creativity. It is my fervent hope that I will be able to secure a teaching position in the Floyd County school system; Rome is my home and I want to give back to the academic community that supported me as I prepared for my college education and my future career as an educator.
I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls, and involves many more people than students and teachers. People should be learning wherever they go, and should continue learning long after they’ve graduated from high school or college. Education isn’t something that can be quantified with tests or report cards, but is instead something that people carry with them. It’s a survival pack for life, and some people are better equipped in certain areas than in others. People with a solid education are prepared for nearly anything, as they will be able to provide for their own physical, emotional, and aesthetic needs.
Every teacher has a different method of teaching. The teachers that I have had in my school career have been no exception. In this way, each teacher has set an example for me, as a future teacher, to follow or not to follow as I see fit. With the examples from my teachers and in continuing my education, I am developing my own method of teaching. I plan to use a combination of teaching methods in my own classroom. My method will be an eclectic approach because I will be using components of more than one philosophy. I will be using essentialism, behaviorism, progressivism, and existentialism.
When people think of teachers, many of them expect for them to have graduated from a college and having a master´s degree. Although many teachers do have a masters degree, it only takes a bachelor's degree to have the certification to teach in their designated subject (Yager). Also, in one of their college classes they are sent off to a school level that they are interested in go off and observe a teacher at their job. Throughout the course of the semester, the student teacher will eventually end up taking over the classroom to see what it feels like to teach. A professor ends up coming to the student teachers school to observe them to see if they are up for the task to become a teacher. Many teachers decide they want to move up a level from being a teacher. Teachers that obtain a masterś degree in Educational Leadership and Principal Certification can take
I consider and know that children are the future of our world; we have to know how to teach and educate them adequately so they could be prepared to lead future generations. I consider that each child has its own way of learning; there are multiple ways in which a person could be intelligent and capable of completing tasks. I want to be able to help children with everything they need. I want to motivate them to do and be the best in every task and area, everything that they dream and think about, to persuade their dreams and never give up no matter how hard they think it is or how difficult becomes trough the way. I don’t want to be the type of teacher that goes through the school year teaching what I have to and limit my capabilities to show them things and lessons useful for their lives, I want every child that goes to my classroom, leave it at the end of the year with instructions or lessons that make them better persons. Additionally, think that it’s important to have a good balance between discipline and kindness with students, it’s important to have a good relationship with the students because in that way is easier to communicate with them; if they have any problems or trouble learning a lesson or something in the content, if they have a good communication and relationship with you, it will be easier for them to tell you about what is causing them trouble. In some cases, when the educator is strong and teaches with hard discipline, the students tend to evade them and
My teaching philosophy is to create an environment that stimulates learning so that students gain the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to become proficient professionals. While teaching foundational knowledge is important, there are other essential skills and abilities that students must acquire in order to successfully transition from being a student to becoming a physical therapy professional. These skills and abilities include thinking critically as well as interacting and communicating effectively with patients and other health care practitioners. I emphasize to students that it is imperative to realize the impact of developing a therapeutic rapport with patients while providing quality, patient-centered care to optimize the healing process. Therefore, when deciding what to teach, I not only consider the content presented, but also how I can foster discussions with students so that they can apply information based on varying contextual factors. I also attempt to provide students a framework for how to achieve professional excellence, which I aim to model as I fulfill my roles and responsibilities as a teacher and provider of clinical instruction. This framework is rooted in five central tenets:
