Although, seeing as video games are increasingly popular today, not everyone met as unfortunate of a fate. Today, many could credit this to the video game development corporation known as Atari, which arose in 1972 and continuously flourished until about 1982. In 1972, Atari came out with PONG, the first electronic arcade game, and it was an enormous accomplishment that exploded into what is now called the electronic gaming revolution. As time passed, Atari managed to triumph over its competition time and time again, but that is not to say that each of the failed corporations did not feature something that is used today. In fact, a couple of the failed organizations contributed something original to what is common today. For instance, Fairchild Camera and Instrument creating the first system that could play several different games, rather than just one. Another aforementioned group, RCA, was the first to produce and utilize keypad controllers instead of paddles or joysticks. Other consoles that came along, such as Intellivision and Vectrex, sported better graphics than the Atari’s consoles and games, but they still did not manage to gross the amount of money that Atari did because Atari was still on top of collecting all of the most entertaining and enjoyable games of their time. A dramatic transformation in the advancement of technology has continued to evolve since the 1950’s. As computers started out, they were very expensive to make, they were slow and the computers were very basic. Now in days people can carry computers in their backpack but in the 90s, the computers would take up a whole room. The reason their computers were so large was because they required magnetic drums to store memory for the computer and vacuum tubes as switches and amplifiers. Technology is a wonderful thing, but with grate power comes grater responsibility. The technology that we cant live with out, could be used against us just like in the book 1984.

During the 1920s there are very many technological advancements you may not be able to count them all. While some are way more prolific than others i will share some that are the greatest known to man and some that you now might take for granted. This period of advancements came right after WWI. Many scientists were in overdrive for the war during this time which helped to contribute to the innovative power of the 20s and 30s. Not all of these advancements were useful but were still very clever. now here are just a few of these inventions that i think are important or clever.

The United States has utilized innovations and technological advancements to solidify its position as a global superpower. One of the greatest accomplishments the United States can claim is to have put a man on the moon in 1969. In describing the impact of the moon landing, historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. notes, “The one thing for which this century will be remembered 500 years from now was: This was the century when we began the exploration of space” (Launius, 2006). In the 47 years since the moon landing, no other nation has been able to land on the moon marking this as a lasting legacy to American perseverance in the exploration of space. The completion of the Panama Canal in 1914 also showcased American resolve and engineering superiority. Providing maritime access between the Atlantic and the Pacific, the Canal stands today as one of seven wonders of the modern world.

The 1990’s were known for a number of encouraging but also undesirable events. Socially, economic expansion and environmental awareness created development within the United States. However, international political unrest lead to extremist demonstrations that had lasting effects. These historical events also resulted in improvements on technology within the decade. Advancements in space exploration and medical technological progress promoted enhancements while educational technology lagged the general population.
