The NBA has grown from that first basketball game in Springfield, Massachusetts to a global game. In 1978, the first ever game between an NBA team and an International Basketball Federation (FIBA) team was played in Tel Aviv, Israel (Scheitrum, 2017). Since then, there have been a total of 163 global games played in countries and territories such as China, the Philippines, Brazil, London, Mexico, and many more across the world. International matches are either played against a FIBA team or another NBA team. By playing preseason and regular season games abroad, the NBA has been able to build and strengthen its fan base all over the world.
The NBA’s reach doesn’t just extend to international games played, but also translates to the diversity in the league itself. The NBA has been at the forefront of diversifying itself both on the court and off the court. Just in the 2016-2017 season alone, there were 113 players from 41 countries and territories (“NBA rosters feature…”, 2016). Most African American that want to make it to the National Football League (NFL) or the National basketball League (NBA), do not realize there is a slim chance to none of actually going into a professional sport. Gates writes “African American youngster has about as much of becoming a professional athlete as he or she does of winning the lottery” (1). Not many African American youngsters know that there are “12 times more black lawyers than black athletes” or there are only 1200 blacks who play in a professional sport (1). There are 12 times more black professionals that are in the communities accommodating to the needs of those who need the assistance with either legal or health issues. The youth can achieve greatness in today’s society by getting a degree and forming a foundation to make enough to be financially stable.
In the collegiate world of sports, basketball has become an increasingly recognized sport among African Americans, predominantly males. The hope of any young basketball player is that one day a scout will come and recruit them into stardom The question that presents itself as a problem to the lucky few who are chosen to go professional, is whether or not an education is more important than a million dollar shoe deal, “The NCAA's (1998) annual six-year study reported that only 33% of Black male basketball players graduated, (Chronicle of Higher Education, 1999). Individually, basketball reported the lowest graduation rate in all divisions,” (Robinson, 2004:1). Basketball players have become so idolized in the eyes of young
In the last ten years many young and talented high school basketball players have chosen to enter the NBA draft. These 17 and 18 year olds decide to skip college, and instead they choose to take a big risk and enter the NBA, hoping to become stars and earn millions of dollars. In many cases, these youngsters’ careers are a failure because they don’t turn out as talented as they thought to be. They end up spending only a few seasons in the NBA because they are not good enough to compete at that level. Many of them have to move on to doing other things, such as playing basketball overseas, doing everyday jobs, or going back to college to earn a degree.

Well the program that i've been telling you about this whole time of NBA cares really does fix these issues. When thinking about players like Len bias who were great that never had the chance to play in the league because of bad influence if NBA Cares was around in his time the chances of that happening are very slim. “NBA greats like Kevin Durant is a prime example of someone who chose his future over the streets due to NBA cares influence by teaching and showing basketball to underprivileged kids like him”(nbafit.com). “In retrospect if you donate to NBA cares there message will reach further horizons meaning, less violence among kids who could be great and if these kids hear NBA cares message, for your donation you are insuring a fruitful life from the NBA with great upcoming
The National Basketball Association (NBA) started up on June 6, 1946, and ever since then several rivalries in the game had began. A rivalry in the NBA consists of two teams that face off against each other that have a chip on their shoulders, and have the desire to do whatever it takes to bet the other team to show superiority. Some of the NBA's most famous rivalries include the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers, and the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks. So there are many intense rivalries in the NBA, but the Los Angeles Lakers and and the Boston Celtics are by the far the most historical.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) was founded on June 6, 1949 in New York City and has exploded today to become one of the most popular professional sports leagues in the world, next to the National Football League(NFL). There are a total of 30 teams in the NBA, each worth about $1.25 billion, making the whole league worth about $37.5 billion. The mastermind behind the NBA’s huge profits are the white collared team owners who watch over the respected team franchises for years. In the past, NBA team owners have been caught up in scandals that have created stereotypes and misconseptions among fans that paint the owners as money hungry individuals who give no respect for their blue collared players in the league. “Basketball was once a game for the Irish and Italian Catholics in Rockaway and the Jewish on Fordham Road in the Bronx.” (Greenfield 210). Back in the beginnings of basketball ethnic names like Red Holzmans, Red Auerbach, and the McGuire Brothers were etched as stars of the NBA (Greenfield 210). But in the present names such Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson are a fixture of pro basketball with national television exposure and million dollar salaries. This is a far cry from the old school basketball of white men with status playing it for leisure. Greenfield and Wolf believe there is a question of style with today’s modern player.
During the 80’s, the period of which these individuals played, the NBA desperately needed a new spark, and the NBA got just what it needed. Larry Bird’s Celtics during the 1979-80 season made a dramatic improvement “from a 29-53 record the year before to 61-21”(Magic Johnson and). While Bird is making an extraordinary turnaround for his Boston Celtics, Magic Johnson, during his rookie season, won a NBA championship for the Los Angeles Lakers. This was the Los Angeles Lakers seventh NBA championship victory. Their success helped the NBA, but their identities off the court supersedes the game of basketball. The years previous to the Magic-Bird rivalry were ever changing. The NBA changed from a fundamental, half-court game with all-white players, to a quick pace, athletically acrobatic game with mainly black players. Few old-school former white people, such as Jerry West and Pete Maravich, could participate and compete in this new form of basketball. This different style of basketball significantly swayed many viewers, white fans, from attending the NBA games. White fans felt that the game was very egocentric and didn’t involve all the players. Also, the white fans didn’t

Since the machine were in place, the productivity was more efficient so that they were earning money. It allows the NBA athletes having a better salary every year. Bahuri says ‘‘we have much more control over
Our suggested implementation plan will undoubtedly increase the NBA’s long-term profits. We view international expansion as an opportunity cost that will eventually benefit the NBA. Expansion of NBA franchises overseas instead of within the boundaries of the United States is much more expensive, but the potential profitability and marketability of the selected franchise cities overseas outweighs increased costs of overseas expansion implementation.
