Telecommunication in Pakistan Nature of frequent disasters in Pakistan Above statistics suggests tremendous growth in telecommunication sector which is very good sign for economy but on the other hand Pakistan is constantly in war like situation for more than a decade now, which is causing huge damages to our economy and people. Generally Word “disaster” is used to refer natural disaster rather than manmade disasters but in Pakistan we are constantly facing disasters like suicide bombs, car bombs and explosions through planted devices. The war we are facing is very different in nature as it does not involve two or various countries directly but it’s a war where both internal and external elements are involved for spreading terrorism on our soil. Due to different nature of war different nature of tactics are required to tackle it. How utilization of mobile phone logs can help? Investigation revealed that in 90 % of the cases mobile phones are being used to carry out this kind of bombing. Terrorist Plant bombs on a location and use mobile phone as remote device to explode it. In these scenarios mobile phones logs become first priority to investigate this kind of heinous crime. Mobile phone logs will not only help to catch the criminal but if mobile phone logs are mapped effectively they will help to reveal the entire network of terrorist and once network is exposed it’s easier to eradicate it. Mobile phone logs if used properly can really help in bringing total peace in our
Disasters are human made or natural and occur sudden and unexpected. As disasters cannot be prevented, government has to be prepared for any emergency situation. According to Stanhope and Lancaster (2014), there are four stages in the disaster management: Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery. According to Stanhope and Lancaster (2014, p 250), public health professionals study disaster effects on populations while American Red Cross work with local and other communities in preparedness, response and recovery phase of disaster.
Terrorism is a frightening reality that all people in today’s world must face. While some areas of the world are facing terrorism more than others nearly are regions and all people are facing the violence and devastating effects of terrorism in one form or another.
Poverty and lack of Education is not the main cause of terrorism (Stern). The failure of the governance in these Islamic countries is the reason behind this violence. When government itself it not strong enough, they will not be able to protect their citizens from terrorist attacks and offer them security. Meanwhile, U.S. with the collision should accomplish tasks in order to transition a new government
In Pakistan there was a terrible tragedy that happened to civilians there. “A targeted suicide bombing happened in at a hospital in Quetta Pakistan, which killed at least roughly 74 people” people were injured badly in this bombing during the war. Behind these bombing were a group called isis “Isis claimed to be behind all of the bombings and attacks during this time” Isis was behind multiple attacks during this war, it's still going on now. The attacks that happened effected the cities as well as people “The city Aleppo is suffering from major damages” the bombings damaged multiple buildings, roads and even homes. Tragedies happen left and right in Pakistan during the war in Syria, many people were killed and buildings were
Eight years of experience in emergency medical services have granted me the opportunity to observe our world through a diverse pair of glasses. Interacting with and treating patients outside of the hospital offers the rare perspective of viewing the environment from which our patients originate. This has opened my eyes to the struggles and barriers those in a lower socioeconomic status face. Working in the urban, suburban, and rural settings, I have treated patients from all walks of life. Knowing all patients are people with various backgrounds and experiences, I learned that communication must be personal and sincere. Navigating the obstacle course that is the patient-provider relationship takes practice, but more importantly, it requires
During the age of globalization modern technology has made terrorism global by putting communication in the hands of even the poor and disenfranchised. Among them are terrorists who convert and circulate information via the internet. Technology also allow terror cells to map and monitor potential targets.
Many times, police are unable to determine where an emergency call is coming from. “It's estimated more than one-third of all the emergency calls to 911 are now made on cellular telephones, but it's impossible to accurately tell where a wireless call is coming from” (“Analysis”). A major concern for police is time. They spend hours searching for the person using search dogs and helicopters because they can not detect the caller’s location. If police use cell phone tracking, they would be able to reach the caller hours in advance because cell phone tracking is extremely precise. The technology is ninety-five percent accurate and can locate the person within a few hundred feet (Hutchins). With a general proximity of where the person is located, it would save the police a lot of time in finding them. Time is critical, and cell phone tracking could resolve this problem. If emergency response times decreased by at least one minute, approximately ten thousand more people would be saved annually (Vanderveen). Accurate locations are vital for saving lives and cell phone tracking could play a major role in helping police rescue people in emergencies. While the traditional methods of locating a person can be helpful, cell phone tracking is much more efficient and accurate in
The humid summer air enveloped them as they trekked through the forest. Twilight flitted at the edge of the sky; night would soon descend. The man glanced back at his brother and mentally noted his labored breaths. Realizing the Appalachian Trail was a short hike away, he decided to forge ahead, leave his pack at the trail, and return to carry his brother’s pack up the mountain. Upon his return, he realized something was terribly amiss. His brother sported a bloody gash on his forehead and could not remember how he received it. Stranded in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains, the man knew he needed help. After helping his brother get comfortable, he went to retrieve his phone from his pack. When he finally found his pack where a hungry bear had left it, he called for help. In a stroke of pure

Hi Karn, I agree communication is crucial in disaster management. As nursing professional we must be careful that our communication is clear, especially in disaster situation. However, you mention all individual must understand and be aware of emergency warnings. Moreover, all community should have a disaster plan, and every resident should be aware of these plans. Disaster management is crucial, since it will entail working in cooperation with multiple entities and individuals.
The mission of disaster communications is to deliver timely and accurate information to the public. Therefore, it is essential that this information is disseminated across all four phases of emergency management. Effective communications to the public require emergency management professionals to create partnerships with the media to be successful in providing this information throughout the four phases (Haddow. G & Haddow. K, 2009).
In a crisis or disaster, what is the best way to disseminate or communicate information within an organization?
Pakistan, due to its diverse range of terrain, is susceptible to wide ranging hazards from droughts to floods and earthquakes to cyclones. Pakistan suffered a major drought from 1995-2000. Pakistan almost every year suffers from floods but the destructions faced in 2010 have changed parameters of our thinking. Pakistan has also experienced earthquakes ranging from moderate to severe in intensity. Despite all these hazards, Pakistan is yet to
The purpose of our research paper is to discuss the semantics of emergency communications in modern times. Our research specifically focuses on communications between emergency personnel, emergency dispatchers, and first responders during crisis. The main goal is not to examine communications from a historical point of view, but to touch up on the subject of 9/11, since it was such an eye opener for all of us regarding our faults in communications. We believe that this will be an acceptable way to start our paper since it is directed towards emergency communications.
Since independence in 1947, India has developed a nationwide relief administration but with the primary responsibility placed on State Governments to play the lead role. It has raised a specific structure for disaster management in the recent years. The structure is as under:-
