The Autobiography Of Miss Jane Pittman
In the novel The Autobiography Of Miss Jane Pittman, there were many different stories about
JanePittman's life. In the movie there were not as many stories as the novel, but they were still quite interesting. The novel and the movie had many similarities and differences. Some of the similarities were very noticeable. Just from the beginning, in both the movie and the novel, Ned carried the two rocks that made the fire for Jane and Ned. Ned then moves away and writes

Jane, but the letter doesn't reach Jane for a whole year. Albert Clevoue shot Ned in both. Joe had to pay colonel Dye for getting him out of trouble with the Ku Klux Klan. Colonel Dye was selfish and asked for money as "interest", most find him just greedy. Once Jane and Joe moved away,
Jane had a couple of dreams that Joe would be killed by some horse, so she went to a hoo-doo. Sure enough, Joe was killed by a horse. Later, a boy was born, and they called him "The One." His name was
Jimmy. They wanted him to become a preacher, but he didn't want to. Differences that were highly noticeable were that in the novel, the interviewer was a teacher that wanted her information for his class and in the movie, it was a magazine reporter. When Albert Clevoue died in the novel, the chariots of hell came for him, and in the movie, you don't even hear of his death. In the novel, it was a black horse that killed Joe Pittman, and the movie, white. In conclusion, the novel had more, described the stories more thoroughly. One might find that the novel is much more enlightening than the movie, but it takes more time to read the novel than it does to watch the movie! All in all, The Autobiography Of Miss Jane Pittman was a fine

One way the story is different from the movie is that the story is very descriptive of characters and
All in all there were many things different about the book compared to the movie.
Another major difference between the written story and the movie is the character of the father. In the short story the author only mentions him briefly. "The father went to town to some office. But though
“She took the blanket off him leaving him with only a sheet for covering. He shook his head. She put the blanket back and threw another one over it to give him more covers than before. He shook his head” (Trumbo 211). The nurse went through 11 different things [2 shown] to see what all of Joe’s tapping was about, because she saw the good in him.
There are other significant similarities between the movie and the book, so if I overlooked or forgot any extremely crucial points, forgive me.
However, there are just as many differences between the novel and the film. For example, at the end of the novel, Melinda tells Mr. Freeman about what happened to her. In the movie, she tells her mother about the incident. This affected the relationship between Melinda and her mother as portrayed in the novel. Their relationship in the novel was not very close at all. It would’ve been very shocking if at the end of the novel, Melinda told her mother about how she was raped.
The actor choices from the film compare to what the book envisioned, but also contrast. The character of Daisy is not similar in the film to what the book
So he stands up for himself, which shows he is strong. Joe-Boy is a bad friend, he was teasing Vinny about the dead boy in the text it says “ Are you going to let your mom control your life or what”? And” you going to jump down and touch the dead boy’s face beneath the rock”. That shows that he is getting out of Vinny’s comfort zone, which makes him a mean friend.
she slept with slemmon for money after one night he kept after her in return for money, until one night joe was sent home early from
The name Jane is spoken in the story and there is no mention of said name at all again. Jane could be the name of our narrator or could be a misprint from John’s sister, Jennie. “I’ve got out in spite of you and Jane” she says to John. This story would take a major, ominous turn if Jane was the name of our narrator. This would mean that she doesn’t think she is herself anymore, but the woman in the wallpaper. If it was supposed to be “Jennie” then it could represent the escape from the oppression of men and the women who accept it. Either way, Jane remains a mystery.
The story takes the form of a journal of the main character. Therefore, the reader’s view is limited to the impressions of a single character, Jane. Considering some background information on Gilman, one can easily draw the conclusion that the story is
The autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman begins with an introduction in which the editor explains the process of writing it. The subject of the novel, Miss Jane Pittman agreed to tell him her story in 1962, after years of attempting to persuade her. The writer, who is also a teacher, wants to hear her side of the story feeling that history often omits certain things. When Jane begins to tell her story, she is already over 100 years old and sometimes forgets some things. Because of this, the story is not necessarily Miss Jane’s story but rather the story of a community that applies to many people. The editor also reveals that sadly, Jane had died before the novel was finished.
Jane receives a letter from Mr. Bingley and her mother quickly thinks that she has to visit him and go there riding so she is caught by a storm and has to stay in Mr Bingley’s house all the night. She is caught by the storm and gets a cold, so she has to stay there some time more.
