The Cardiovascular System

Although every system of the body is important, the cardiovascular system is one of the most important. Any complications originating within the cardiovascular system will have some kind of adverse effect on the other systems of the body. It is important, especially being a part of the EMS system, to know the different parts, what can potentially go wrong, how to effectively manage those problems and to take care of our patients as best we can. The heart, blood vessels, and the blood itself are what the cardiovascular system is composed of. The heart, being the most important part of this system, is uniquely designed, and is the body 's pump. It allows for every part of the body to receive the oxygen and nutrients it needs to function properly and efficiently. The heart is known as an organ because of the crucial role it performs within the body. The muscle the heart is made up of is known as the cardiac muscle. This specific muscle is distinct because doesn 't fit into a specific group and is involuntary, able to work on its own. When detached from the central nervous system, it is still able to produce its own impulses. The heart has four chambers, two are called ventricles, and the other two are known as the atria. Each
