Isis has 30,000 fighters( “Isis trail of terror”). February 2015, Isis had 20,00 more foreign fighters who had come to help( “Isis trail of terror”). Not including 150 from the United State. Isis is spreading into Syria, Iraq, and towards Baghdad tormenting the sick, and killing people till they decide to join their side ( “Isis trail of terror”).Obama said, “ Let's be clear about Isis, they have rampaged across cities beheading people in cowardly acts of violence.”( “Isis trail of terror”). Isis is growing bigger and bigger each second, and only we can stop it.

Climate change is defined as the change in global or regional climate patterns, which is apparent from the mid to late 20th century onwards. When looking at climate change there is an abundance of evidence that supports that humans are the leading causes of the drastic shift in the weather pattern but there is also a lot of evidence against humans actually causing climate changes. For example, the increasing levels of man made gases that are let into the atmosphere may have created a greenhouse effect, which traps heat and ultimately causes global warming. But there are also many scientists who believe that the earth has always naturally cooled down or warmed up at its own pace.

The United States, with its coalition partners, has committed to degrade and destroy the terrorist group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). This group poses a threat to the people of the Middle East, as well as to the United States, our allies, and interests in the region. If this terrorist organization is left uninterrupted, ISIL will grow, threatening the surrounding areas of the Middle East, our allies abroad, and the United States.

A threat is looming over the United States like the dense fog of an early fall morning. It promises total chaos that will leave the population in the dark. Imagine everything that uses electricity, which Americans take for granted, just stopped working. Lights, cell phones, running water, all of these are gone in the blink of an eye. This threat has the potential to bring the United States to a grinding halt with little to no casualties, at first. An EMP attack would cripple the United States by ending all electronic usage. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) is “. . . high-intensity electromagnetic radiation generated by a nuclear blast high above the earth 's surface and held to disrupt electronic and electrical systems.” According to this definition, an EMP attack will disrupt and possibly destroy all electrical systems. Just take a second to think of all the structures Americans rely on that are electrical. Essentially everything. This is why an attack of this kind is so terrifying.

During the late 19th century, America was seen as a flourishing nation which provided a desired relocation for millions of people. From these mass migrations into the United States, citizens developed concern from the fluctuations between economic depression and prosperity and if the nation could afford absorbing than many people (Schaller, Schulzinger, Selfa, Greenwood, Kirk, Purcell, & Dean p. 619) Migrations haven’t stopped in the 21st century and today more than ever there is increasing foreign threats because of the negative sentiment many countries have towards US policy. From this ever changing world with higher threat levels what has homeland security evolved into, and why is it important in Texas amongst the rest of the southern states that share a border with Mexico? With the combination of international airports, a large coastline, and a long stretch of border Texas can potentially be vulnerable from numerous foreign threats because of its sheer size and lack of oversight of many locations.

When we hear the word terrorists, we only think of the people trying to destroy the United States. The U.S is used to being admired as being a great country, and when they send troops into other countries and attack them, they expect them not to fight back. However, on September 11, 2001 there was a series of attacks against the United States that left the country in fear. The country was in utter shock and disbelief as they watched four airlines hijacked by suicide bombers take down the World Trade Center in New York, part of the Pentagon as well as a third plane that was take down before it reached Washington D.C. So when the United States invades another country people don 't consider it terrorism, they believe we are simply defending ourselves. The United States is one of the most powerful countries in the world having money, power, greed, freedom of religion, and more. Our democracy along with our presidential leaders want to take out any potential threats thus trying to take control over other countries is what leads to terrorist to attack.

We walk amongst each other weaving in and out of eachother’s lives. To our disadvantage, we all wear a distinct expiration date plastered upon our face. As a society, we struggle day to day fighting a battle in which we know the outcome of. To our dismay, time is not the enemy but our very own DNA is the true culprit. Today, we come together as a community to fight for our right at the longest life available.

ISIL and associated forces having been moving quickly across Iraq, taking control of large sections of territory and driving out residents. It appears that they have turned their eyes toward Baghdad, looking to take control of the capital and extend their control further. This of great concern to the United States government as ISIL is a direct threat to our interests in the region and to the homeland. They have killed three Americans this year with the possibility of publicly killing the other American hostages they hold. These killings are a direct attack on the United States and cannot be ignored. In addition, there are Americans in their ranks that heighten the threat ISIS poses to the United States. With access to US passports and the ability to reenter the country, these fighters could carry out an attack inside the United States. The government feels that action must be taken against ISIL to prevent damage to our national security and harm from coming to our citizens.

There has never been an attack from a foreign county on US soil (Associated Press, 2001). The United States Military is one of the strongest in the world. They are the better trained and equipped than any other country. The United States Military doesn’t come under attack very often for that exact reason.

Everyday America is posed with threats from around the globe. Allowing America to spy on other countries provides for the greater good of the economy. There are three main reasons as to why I believe America should have the ability to keep tabs on surrounding countries.

Climate change is the term used to describe the warming of the average surface temperature on earth. Climate change; often referred to as the general term global warming, is a topic that often inspires fierce debate among those on both sides of the issue. One thing those who are pro and those that are con both agree on is that the temperature on earth has increased over the past century by an average of 1.4 degrees. The big debate on the two sides is if the warming temperatures are caused by human activities and if it is not stopped it will have dire consequences (the pro side) or if it is the result of natural causes and the earth’s surface will find ways to adapt such as crops becoming more heat resistant (the con side).
