Over the past century there is a drastic change on Earth's Atmosphere mainly because of interference of human activities like using fossil fuels as a source of energy, and emission of greenhouse gases due to industrial processes. These activities have release a large amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases causing Earth’s average temperature to rise by 1.4’ and is expected to rise up to 11.5’F such changes can result in undesirable consequences.
In this research paper, i will focus on What is air pollution?, What is causing air pollution?,What is the current air quality condition? What are the effects of air pollution on United States. I will discuss what are the changes in the Earth’s climate and weather and the ways of prevention
Although thought to be “not a big problem” and “under control” by most people, pollution is making its way in being a serious and an unforgiving threat to society. Pollution a topic everyone hears and knows exists. What they don’t know is how serious of a problem it is already becoming. Many health issues are being reported now that are linked to air pollution and even the most severe weather places have encountered are linked to air pollution also. By society, not fully being aware of the true threat that pollution is making, it will only become a growing threat that they will be encountering.
A controversy issue in the United States is whether or not we should be involved in the controlling international pollution. Pollution is problem world-wide. Many would like to be involved in pollution while others would not. I believe that the United States should not be involved in the controlling of international pollution.
Water Pollution has been an increasing problem over the last few years. Pollution comes from many different things; agricultural, urban runoff, industrial, sedimentary, animal wastes, and leeching from landfills/septic systems just to name a few (Resources). The reason why pollution has increased over the years is because the rise in population and the advancements in technology the society has made. If society plans on having their resources here for many years to come they are going to have to make some drastic changes in the way they treat the earth, and these changes will have to start with their pollutants (Foundation).
One of the reasons that cause air pollution in the United States is combustion of fossil fuels. United states known as the developed countries. For big countries, there will have many moving vehicles. Burning oil from fossil fuels such as diesel is burnt in moving vehicles cause air pollution. When the oil is burned, dangerous gases released into air and the environment. From that, if the people overuse of fossil fuel, its will kill the environment as dangerous gases are polluting the environment and harm the habitat. Because of our selfishness, other must face hardship cause of air pollution that is produced from the environment also from the human. From the source that was found, according to Rakesh from Conserve Energy Future (CEF), dangerous
Within regions of the U.S. that are home to heavy snowfall, it is a common practice to pour salt on the roads. The reason for this is because a property of salt allows it to lower the melting point of water, which makes it much easier to clear the streets of snow and ice that would otherwise leave the roads dangerous, unusable and slippery. It is a simple way to reduce car accidents, and it is also much cheaper compared to the alternative chemicals that can be used for the same purpose. However, the salt that most cities use doesn’t simply disappear after it has done its job. It typically gets washed away into reservoirs, watersheds, lakes and streams. In fact, researchers in Minnesota found that 70% of the salt used on roads in the twin
Poor air quality is a serious issue as it affects the environment and human health. Pollution in the United States continues to be an ever-growing problem. In 1970, the Clean Air Act was amended and has since made great process in cleaning the air. The 1990 Amendment signed on November 15, 1990 marks the biggest change in protecting the ozone layer, reducing acid rain and toxic pollutants, and improving air quality.1 This law serves under the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure that the environment is being protected and human health.
According to National Geographic Magazine, countries around the world have undertaken and implemented measures to combat air pollution. These measures aim to limit emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that contribute to air pollution. The United States of America is one of the hundred and seventy five (175) countries that signed the Paris Agreement to combat climate change which includes air pollution. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of United States of America formulates strategies and enforces laws and regulations such as the Clean Air Act (CAA). The EPA as the enforcing agency stipulated in the clean air act that all stationary sources such as factories and chemical plants “must install pollution control equipment
Since human’s activity, pollution becomes a big problem in the world. There are a lot of part of pollutions include water pollution, light pollution and air pollution. Air pollution is happened in our life. The United States is also a victim of air pollution. In 1943, Los Angeles photochemical smog event occurred. The whole of Los Angeles was covered with smoke. There are about 400 people died and a lot of fruits in orchards began to wither.
Do people pollute? In the United States, we contribute to 30% of the world’s waste(“Pollution Facts”). Because of that, the effects of pollution are killing humans and the environment around us. If we tend to be oblivious to this problem any longer it could be our downfall. Therefor, Pollution is a problem that is constantly overlooked and something needs to be done about it.
In fact, since the beginning of the industrial revolution, human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation and agriculture have caused the concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere to increase substantially. A marked rise in the global temperature has been related to these human activities and CO2 emissions, and this temperature rise is believed to be the result of an enhancement of the natural Greenhouse effect. And as a result, global warming arises. This awareness has led many researchers to investigate possible causes and effects of this temperature rise. However, as much knowledge about the climate system is lacking, numerous researches on that issue have led to a great deal of debate. At the moment, the way the climate system will respond to these human activities is difficult to predict, for too many processes are not understood well enough. One absolute reality though is the fact that the global climate system will respond to increasing temperatures. Moreover, this response could have irreversible consequences for the habitability
Worldwide temperatures are rising, carbon dioxide is at a hazardous level, ocean acidification, atmosphere boundary shifts, and extreme events are just a few of the worldwide climate changes happening near and far. It is a controversial issue whether it is taking place in the present velocity because of nature or man. However, global climate changes happen naturally, but they ought not to happen at this increased rapidity; therefore, human activity is a great cause that global climate change is happening at an expanded rate. The greatest contribution of human action is the combustion of fossil fuels, which is one of the primary reasons why the carbon dioxide levels are nearing high-hazard strata. Thus, the scientific confirmation supports that the rise in carbon dioxide levels is significantly generated by people, not nature, and people are ultimately the largest contributor to the atmospheric changes; thus, human beings should implement changes to their energy sources and modify agricultural production in order to lessen the quantity of carbon dioxide emitted into the aura at the extraordinary rate it currently is passing.
‘Smog’ is the outcome of the combination of the words ‘smoke’ and ‘fog’. Photochemical smog is the most common throughout the United States in large cities and mainly consists of ozone located in the troposphere. Photochemical smog occurs when sunlight reacts with pollutants in the air released by factories and car exhaust emissions. Smog plays a major role in environmental and personal health issues such as low birth rate, respiratory irritation, reduction of lung function, aggravated asthma, chronic lung diseases, reduction of immune system effectiveness, photosynthesis reduction, and the possibility of ecosystem deterioration. Therefore, because of very high amounts of smog in major U.S. cities such as Los Angeles combined with its harmful effects, smog is the greatest ecological issue facing the U.S. today.
Throughout the previous century, rise in temperature and surge in CO2 concentration because of innumerable factors comprising alteration land usage pattern [4] and greenhouse gas (GHG) emanations from agricultural and industrial zones [7], have caused variations in the earth’s climate. This surge in the GHG’s emanation is expected to impact the earth’s temperature,
Air, is one of the most substantial source to mankind and our planet. While it exists, so does everything else along. However, in today’s epidemic, there has been certain factors that have increased in understanding whether the air we breathe today is healthy or not? Is it doing more harm than we thought? In other words, the health risks against air pollution have risen in the past few decades; all from what you may ask? Well, it could be for various factors and evaluations; either environmental or materialistic. Pollution is a major public health crisis in the world. (Friis, 2012). This is one of the conflicts that contribute to various aspects of an individual’s life, whether they may realize it or not. In this paper will include the sources that cause pollution with the effects it cause as well as policies on the regulation of air pollution.
Throughout the last 200 years, there have been a plethora of inventions such as the combustion engine. Other such inventions include the steam engine, typically driven by coal, and propellants used to spray chemicals. The Industrial Revolution left an impact on the world far greater than just inventions and set forth a world of change. Although the Industrial Revolution brought many great devices in to the world, it also could have caused the accelerated climate change and warming that we saw throughout the 21st century. In fact, over the 900 years before the Industrial Revolution began, the average world temperature was in decline and the 1990s was the warmest decade on record.
