The SCCA service area is one of the most useful and important strategies when it comes to planning purposes. Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) allows research teams, cancer specialist, and organizations to come and work together, such as Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle Children’s Hospital, and University of Washington Medicine. All of these prestige organizations expand and translate any type of scientific discoveries into prevention and cures for cancer as the treatment process continues. The SCCA service area is prominent in the Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho (WAMI) region as they increase their research ideas into groundbreaking discoveries for cancer specialists and lifesaving realities for cancer …show more content…
SCCA is also a Public hospital that communities have created ways to establish funds to finance the facilities and operations.
The SCCA Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) focus on the implementation and expansion of the cancer prevention and screening actions that are taken in King, Pierce and Snohomish County areas. The benefits of advancing the cancer care by SCCA is that different institutions will have the ability to reduce the lack of access and increase treatment through extensive care. In this case, health deficiencies are results of financial barriers, lack of reliable transportation, as well as low medical knowledge. SCCA must implement ways to minimize these barriers in order to target a large population.
Challenges:
The SCCA faces many difficulties with patients attempting to reach the care necessary. Travel times for reaching main clinics, such as the South Lake Union can prove to be decimating patients seeking care. For example, patients can go to clinics through Northwest Hospital and Evergreen Hospital, but some patients are in need of care from the southern cities and it requires them to travel into Seattle. Likewise, the ability to expand clinic facilities and satellite sites is a complex and expensive undertaking, but in some cases, it must be done. The SCCA must expand throughout their region while maintaining
While, the other 2 hospitals in the area have cancer programs, there are no coordinators in place to facilitate the scheduling of patients. The care of oncology patients is fragmented. Currently there are no prevention programs in place. There are educational programs in place, but they are not offered frequently.
A Community health center can be defined as a center where high quality primary and preventive healthcare is provided regardless of the ability of the patient’s financial situation. There are some basic characteristics a community health center must possess to be fully functional. Some of which are:
Increase the patient access to the SRDC and continuity of care. This can be accomplished through extended clinic hours, providing electronic patient portal access, telemedicine, and culturally competent
Many factors can influence a person’s access to health care. Age can influence access to health care because some physicians will treat only children or only the elderly. Income can influence access to health care because specialty driven health care usually involves significant out-of-pocket expense to the patient because some procedures are not covered by health insurance. Location also can be an influence on access to health care. Many patients do not have transportation because of age, dependency on family members, health reasons, or financial reasons. According to the Journal of the National Medical Association, Access to health care can influence the prevalence of chronic disease risks and cancer screening utilization in many ways (Shavers, Shanker, Alberg, 2002, p. 955). If patients are not given
After my research of the neighborhood and, statistic facts it is clear that the Kings County population environment is very upkeep however, the community does not rank well using the healthcare assets accessible to them. There is a moment destitute and neediness level populace inside of this county. The insights and registration are tackled the region all in all, and not singular towns inside of the area. Consequently, the main source of death among the Kings County populace was heart disease and, cancer I feel as though based on the statistics of insured individuals it is determined that either the population is not utilizing the health care coverage and, or health resources that are in place for the community. I can honestly say that based on my community assessment that a major factor that always seems to matter is the high income families compared to the lower income families. According to the statistics it is evident that the numbers declined on topics such as health issues like Obesity and, childhood obesity, due to the fact that the higher income counties were able to provide a more healthy eating habit for their families where as the low income families tend to eat more affordable foods such as fast
The community identified its priority health needs by doing Community Health Status Assessment(CHSA). The aim of this was to obtain feedback from residents regarding their health status, access to healthcare and their perception of community services. The study included residents of Atlantic County and surrounding areas in Camden and Cape May counties that are serviced by Atlantic County hospitals in2002. The first research component was a secondary data collection. This secondary data profile contained health and wellness statistics collected from New Jersey, the Department of Health and Senior Services NJDHSS, CDC, and U.S. Census Bureau data. The profile identified the health status of area residents compared to those in other parts of the state and the nation. The same data profile was used in the
Opportunities Abilities to expand in hospital departments and health care services in facility. Location of hospital serves a large population area. Easy of public transportation to the hospital.
A comprehensive satellite health clinic will reduce admissions, as well as re-admissions to the current single hospital within the county. This extra resource will reduce the possibility of competitors moving into the area, specifically those from neighboring hospitals that could bring the needed services that PMH is lacking and looking to provide. Additionally, consumers feeling forced to travel out of the area for care, or those facing the potential of being transferred out of the area due to the severity of the case as a result of inadequate primary and preventative care, or lack of space will diminish through these efforts.
The National Cancer Institute provides great examples of cancer health disparities and the burdens each ethnic group face. Factors such as education, living conditions, exposure to environmental toxins, workplace, and access to healthcare can influence the survival rate and mortality rate of those diagnosed with cancer. More so, medically underserved populations face the most burdens resulting in late diagnosed or no treatment at
As doctors care for cancer theres many people who work together to make a treatment plan that’ll combine all the different types of treatments that
Community diagnoses is a clinical judgment about community response to an actual or potential health concern or issue (Anderson & McFarlane, 2015). The uninsured or underinsured population is at risk for ineffective health maintenance as evidenced by the inability to identify, control, and/or seek help to maintain health. Without further investigation of the 11.3% population of Grand Rapids without insurance it is hard to know why they are without insurance, and this percentage only represents the uninsured and no the underinsured. So we may be looking at an even larger population within this
XYZ Healthcare Organization plays a very crucial role in preventing illness, relieving pain, and promotion wellness and wellbeing of individual through all stages of life. To realize its aims and objectives, the organization needs funding to continue with very sensitive and important services. There are several approaches that can be adopted to ensure funding of healthcare services. These approaches include the use of insurance medical covers by the patients, funding from the government, private sectors and other nongovernmental organization. The burden of healthcare funding should not just be

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2013) defines cancer clusters as a larger than anticipated amount of similar cancer cases arising at a given time among members of a defined community. Cancer clusters present many challenges due to the complexity of the analytic process and the abundance of inquiries and concerns. Because the research and studies of cancer clusters in the United States have uncovered few conclusive determinants, many states are hesitant in dedicating excess resources and money to the meticulous processes. Seeing the issue of discovering potential environmental hazards as a priority, Maryland is employing a specifically appointed workgroup to process all community concerns to enforce serious
An assessment of needs, a review and evaluation, data on structure, incident and frequency of diseases, the size of the underlying population, and review on areas of met and unmet need, relative cost effectiveness of those interventions and the effectiveness of interventions available are needed when planning health care.
