Organisations are forced to be flexible, efficient and productive to excel at their performance. This international technology company demands strong motivation, stupendous leadership and great understanding between workers. Leaders need to create willingness amongst the employees to operate at their highest potential; this willingness is referred to as motivation. This report is based on a content/needs theory of motivation (Maslow’s hierarchy of needs). It will proceed with primary research (worker motivation on selected construction sites in Bangkok, Thailand, and a study of Ethnic Differences and Motivation Based on Maslow’s Theory on Iranian Employees) and conclude with implications of this theory for the managers and individuals in this company. The five-tier model was developed by Abraham Maslow in 1943-53 and his book ‘motivation and personality’ was published in 1954. Abraham Maslow was an American philosopher who was born in the early 1990 's in Brooklyn, New York. He was one of the leading theorists that promoted humanistic psychology during his era. Maslow sought to understand what motivates and inspires individuals. He theorized that individuals possess and hold a group of motivation and incentive systems not related to plunder or insensible desires. Maslow declared that people are motivated and provoked to attain certain needs. When one need is fulfilled a person seeks to fulfill the next one, and so on. The earliest version of Maslow 's hierarchy of needs includes five motivational needs, often viewed as hierarchical levels inside a pyramid. The five stage representation can be separated into basic needs and growth needs. The deficiency or basic needs are said to motivate and stimulate individuals when they are unmet and not fully attained. Also, the desire to fulfill and accomplish such wants and needs will become stronger the longer the duration they are denied. Once these needs have been relatively satisfied, an individual may be capable of reaching the highest level of the pyramid called self-actualization. Maslow though that self actualization is a state that exists when an individual is acting in harmony with his or her full capabilities. Psychologist Abraham Maslow created Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, a list of necessary needs in order to live with healthy mental. The levels are physiological, safety, love, esteem, and self-actualization. Physiological deals with survival needs which include food, shelter, and water. Safety is the need to be secure from danger, a shelter or safe environment. Love is the is need for affection and belongingness, friends and family. Esteem is the personal worth, success and achievements. Self-actualization is actualizing one’s potential and what you are capable of. According to Maslow, the most important level is physiological and is needed for survival.

Throughout life, one’s personality is a very important aspect of that individual’s wellbeing. Such characteristics are not only used by others in attempts to understand their peers, but also determine one’s own satisfaction and view of themselves. People are always attempting to change who they are for the better, in efforts to live a more satisfying and self-fulfilling life through achieving higher personal needs. With that said, when studying the psychological basis behind one’s development and change in personality, one specific theory and stance seems to explain this phenomenon of bettering one’s self; that of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.
In social and political turmoil, certain human rights and needs are argued in the name of progress. There are debates of the necessity of freedom versus safety for people, such as long lines at airport security, seemingly tedious, but protecting from threats unseen by the public. One such person who discussed these needs was H.L. Menchen, a journalist and critic of the popular American life. He once said “The average man does not want to be free. He simply wants to be safe,” which highlights both his argument and the discussion itself, while launching new tangents of debate. Despite the call and thirst for freedom reflected in media and revolutions throughout the world and history, Menchen’s claims about the human need for safety are true, because despite the constant promotion of freedom in society, to survive one must have safety.
According to Maslow 's Hierarchy of Needs, after a person has achieved safety, satisfied their thirst, hunger and other physiological needs they continue towards self-actualization. In this is our desire for answers emerges. From the moment man had demonstrated his dominance at the top of the food chain, establishing a home, creating a life he set himself on a path towards higher thinking. They began to question why things happened. The best example of this would be the Greek philosophy and the tales of the Gods of Olympus. There are many management styles when it comes to an effective work environment. In correctional officers jobs they do their work by day to day events, where crisis is encountered every day, and leadership is essential to keep an operative system running. The basis for all management is leadership where correctional officers should have authority, talent, experience, ethics, and training. One that really stands out is Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs for prison guards. Prison guards need to feel important as they are caring for and essentially keeping appalling criminals safety. They need to know what they are doing is important for society and also be emotionally stable to handle the high levels of stress they will encounter. All levels of the pyramid need to be met for prison guards to justly do their jobs while also staying mentally fit for their work.

Throughout human history people have sought to better themselves and ascend to higher levels beyond what others thought possible. As many might say, life is more than just surviving, it is about doing the things one dreams of, learning new things, mastering new skills, and being with the people that one enjoys being with. On the contrary, not all people get to do any of those things. It seems that the ultimate goal is self-actualization and life fulfillment, yet why do people never seem to reach that point?
According to the New York Times Magazine article conjugal visits a privilege, not the right because of the several reasons. The ability to have sex with a spouse is not a fundamental human right for someone who is in the prison. It is a reasonable freedom for a prisoner to lose (Klosterman, 2014). The conjugal visits apply to everyone, whatever their sexual orientation because it represents gender equality and we live in the state where first make gay marriage legal. Abraham Maslow (1908-1970) was an American psychologist. He made contribution to psychology today, but one of his most important contributions to the world today is creating the hierarchy of needs. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs was first introduced in a 1943 paper called “A Theory of Human Motivation”, published in Psychological Review. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is five levels of basic human needs or motivators. These motivators are normally displayed on as a pyramid starting with physiological at the bottom of the pyramid, and ending with self-actualization. There are five levels of needs, and the pyramid breaks those needs into three different categories: basic needs, psychological needs, and self-fulfillment needs (Riccoio). Not only is Maslow’s hierarchy of needs present in a child’s home, they are also essential motivators for a student success in the classroom.

When one thinks of what families do for each other, they will most likely think of care. More specifically they think of the care that a parent has for their child. Parents have to meet certain “needs” for the child in order for the its healthy survival. Children must be fed and clothed. Parents must also watch over the safety of and be the friends of the children. Cheering on in good times and making their child the best it can be are also responsibilities of parents. The family metaphor is used when describing the Human Relations method of management. In this the management of a company is seen as the parents and the employees are seen as the children. Employees, as seen as the
