In this project ,my group members focus on the effect and alternatives of animal testing. Animal testing also known as animal experimentation or in-vivo research is the use of non-human animals in experiments, in other words, it is the procedure performed on living animals for purposes of research into basic biology and diseases. For example, test new medical products, to make sure it is safe for human use. There are many different species are used around the world, but the most common include mice, monkey, fish, rats, rabbits, hamsters, birds, cats, dogs. And farm animals,
Currently, The
There are so many products being tested on animals , from being lipsticks, shampoos, makeup, skin care etc. But have you ever wondered the side effects these animals experience while using these products? They will experience Burning, torturing, pain, hunger, thirst etc. How is living in a cage living? It's not it is just surviving.
Although many people agree with testing products on animals, they ask ‘Who else are we going to test our products on?’ Nobody! Don’t add harsh chemicals in the products and then the animals and humans are both healthier. Beyond millions of animals that die and are captured every year just from animal testing alone. Treating an animal cruelty is never okay, especially when they’re torturing the animals with harsh chemicals due to testing. If people would stand up and try to protect animals we’d be saving certain animals from becoming extinct and we’d also save a ton of money.
Many of us are unaware of the sheer number of animals that undergo constant suffering in the name of human vanity. Animal testing was originally introduced in the early 20th century and is still prominent today. It is morally unacceptable to experiment on animals for human purposes. The procedures used in animal testing are cruel and inhumane, nor are they the most reliable source of data; resulting in many mishaps. Moreover, with the perpetual advancements in technology, there are several alternative methods making animal testing unnecessary. If testing cosmetics and drugs on humans is unacceptable, what makes it acceptable to test on animals?
How many have of you have ever A puppy? Now imagine your puppy being forced to inhale bleach or other harmful chemical for the sole purpose of seeing how long it takes to kill them. This happens on a daily basis in experiments that don't typically end until at least half of the testing group dies. This experiment shows how lethal the chemical is to inhale and the toxicity of it.
The development of new treatments including medicines are distinguished for being time consuming, costly and complex. However, this timely manner is beneficial for society as it meant to provide an efficient and safe medication. Concerns regarding when animal studies are necessary compared to clinical trials has been a debatable topic among society. For over a decade, animal research has served as a fundamental component in many medical findings. Mousses are commonly used in laboratories, as we as humans share nearly 95% of our genes, making them a useful and efficient model for the assistance of discovering medications used today (Grant, 2017). Bench studies should continue to be practiced by researchers as
Did you know that over one hundred million animals die a year from animal testing? And that’s just in the U.S.! Animal testing has helped us, but it causes much more harm than good. Testing should have a lot more restrictions, so animals used in experiments experience less pain. Almost all of the animals tested on end up dying, and until then, they are treated cruelly, enduring many experiments. They can all feel things, and they are constantly mentally and physically suffering. All sorts of animals are used in experiments: monkeys, rabbits, cats, dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, and birds. They have little to no protection, and even protected animals are not safe. Many big brands test their products on animals, such as Lysol, Chapstick, Febreze,
Animal Testing is the process of experimentation involving using products on non-human animals and recording the reaction on the animal in order to see the effects of a product. Each year over 100 million innocent animals are killed for animal testing. Usually products used on animals will have negative effects that will result in painful effects for the animals. Animal testing is a great advance in medical technology, but hurts the animals that are being tested. Products that are tested on animals could include cosmetics, skincare, cleaning supplies, and household items. Companies feel the need to test on animals to see the reaction on them and determine what could happen when the consumer uses uses the product. All of these animals being
In the United States alone, over 100 million animals are injured and killed in the name of science. Animals are poisoned, burned, and blinded everyday in product tests for numerous industries such as household cleaning, cosmetics, and manufacturers of personal care products. Even though many companies have banned the testing of their products on animals, some corporations continue to put chemicals into animals’ eyes and onto the shaven skin without any form of pain relief. No doubt is this form of testing cruel, especially now that scientists have began developing new advanced ways to tests products that are quicker and more cost effective. These tests are also increasingly more accurate than the endangering of animals method of testing. Some
Scientists should be allowed to test on animals with no restrictions because oddly enough it benefits animals more than it benefits humans. Even though it doesn’t seem like that would be true, it very much is. One of the best examples of how animal testing helped other animals was when scientists got together to do lab tests on animals and they ended up finding out how to stop rabies. Rabies is a terrible disease that animals normally get. The symptoms are foaming of the mouth, madness, convulsions, muscle aches, and it can be transmitted through to humans through a bite. Although this mainly affects animals and rarely humans the testing on the animals that found the vaccination was very good either way because if an animal has rabies and is
Even though animal testing does not produce valid results, animals are still treated in an inhumane way during testing because they are purposely experiencing pain and are being killed. After mentioning that scientists gave mice tumors in their brains, Cheng states, “And in recent prostate cancer experiments at Colorado State University and North Carolina State University, dogs’ genitals were exposed to powerful radiation in an attempt to induce erectile dysfunction, which it did in some… Many of the dogs were killed just because of the highly toxic effects of the radiation” (“To Win the War on Cancer, Dishonorably Discharge Tests on Animals”). Radiation, which is an emission of energy that changes and damages chemicals in cells, can cause
Like any controversial topic some believe the pros of animal testing outweigh the cons and vice versa. The ethical outlook dominates both of them. What this essentially means is that emotion is perhaps the fundamental influential element in whether a person deems the advantages of animal testing overshadow the troubles correlated with the experiment. “If a monkey is very sick it will lie down when people turn their backs.” (185). Therefore due to the experimentation, “the sick monkey was holding its knees and there were star like speckles on its eyelids when Hensley turned her back the monkey laid down in its cage.” (185). These monkeys would not show in front of the scientists that they were suffering, instead they did it quietly and in secret.
Animals are the safest way to research the effect of experimental situations. Experiments have been using animal testing since the 16th century. Animal testing has saved billions and billions of human lives from harmful sickness and dangerous surgeries. Most people have only ever heard the negative stories surrounding animal testing but there are thousands of positive stories that should be taken into account.
The use of animal testing has been going on for a long time. Although there have been many cases where people try to stop it or try to convince people that it is wrong in today’s society it is still happening all over the world. This research paper will talk about how in today’s society is racing to discover cures for diseases. How humans have made advancements in the world we have also established the scientific evolution. By doing so our ethics and morals have failed to progress. The knowledge that we gain throughout the years is remarkable but it is our responsibility to use it wisely and ethically. We heartlessly torture and kill animals that we consider lesser beings. For something as simple as eye makeup hundreds of animals are tortured and blinded by test that are being done to them in laboratories where they are hardly being fed, often forced to live in filth, sometimes they even remove their vocal cords to keep them quiet. We pour cosmetic products into their eye and body parts to determine if it will have a harmful effect on humans. Animal’s posses the same emotions and feelings as humans and without any care they are subjected to pain. Mankind fails to give animals respect they deserve, they are treated with lifeless. Something that needs to be changed.
Although animal testing has been taking place for centuries, it is still very common for scientists and researchers to create defective drugs due to impaired animal tests. Much of this failure stems from the fact that the genetic makeup of animals versus humans are very different. Opponents to animal testing argue that you can not compare a human body and their complex systems to a rat that weighs less than a pound. Scientists are looking at two species on completely different scales. On the other hand, proponents for animal testing compare human DNA to the fact that 99% of it is shared with chimpanzees. Regardless of this, Paul Furlong, a professor of clinical neuroimaging at Aston University in the United Kingdom, presents that “it’s very
Every year a variety of animals are put into experiments in laboratories. They are tested using new substances, ointments, nasal spray and many more products. It has been seen throughout our lives where we see pictures or articles that talk about how animals are tortured and abused in these laboratories. From all this, there have been many organizations that started a movement to ban animal testing. This new movement has received a lot of popularity from the people. It has made many companies that are against this find ways to show, print, and tell us that their product was safely tested on animals or not tested at all. They have tried to come up with new alternatives to stop animal testing or to simply hide the fact that they do. One major way they test on animals is using medical products. Also, products that benefit humans are tested on animals before they are sold to consumers. Although there has been much change in the way animals are put through experiments the question still lingers, Should animals experiment with products like medicine?
