The actual Science of Psychology is much defined, to some it may see that psychology is someone sitting on a couch and a Psychologist asking those questions about their life. This may go on aimlessly for an hour at a time visit after visit. Yet even with this scenario there is a very detailed scientific methodology behind the process. These systematic approaches are used to observe, predict, describe and explain what responses may be expected. The basis for this is found in the Scientific Method which utilizes four main steps: 1. Conceptualize the problem 2. Collect research information 3. Analyze data 4. Draw Conclusions. This systematic approach to psychology mimics the same approach many scientists utilize and fields of research around the world today. Building on the concept to generate a theory and testing through research then developing a hypothesis. These steps are how psychologist’s today made many of the new discoveries and advances in their fields of research. Through many types of test’s, controlled experiments, case studies and research we can define Psychology as a science of

I will also look at the scientific method as a whole and examine the criticisms of this method using the writings of Hume and Popper.
The Freudian slip is any action that can expose an unconscious thought aloud. These happen daily because we live fast-paced lives that we do not always stop and think what we say and do; we are constantly thinking a million things per minute that we confuse what we think versus what we say. Real life examples of the use of the “Freudian Slip” is the slip of the tongue when someone calls someone by the wrong name, uses the wrong word, and misinterprets a word. For example, a mom can use another child’s name to call her other child, or someone can write a text message but is writing what they are saying out loud to someone in
What is Psychology? The definition of psychology is a person scientifically studying the behavior and mental processes of a human being. Psychology is trying to answer the questions of why people act the way that they do, and what causes them to act that way. Psychologists also have a range of tasks depending on the type of psychology one pursues. Throughout this research, a few careers in psychology will be explored and information will be provided about each of these careers.
To answer this question I feel it is important to understand the definitions of psychology and science. I will start with definitions of the terms psychology and science and will briefly review the methods of psychology. I will outline the behaviourist approach, the psychoanalytical approach, the cognitive approach, the humanistic approach and the biological approach. In order to confirm whether psychology can fulfil the definition of science I will outline the five approaches and use evidence from the approaches to support my findings.
Psychology is defined as the scientific study of behavior of the mind. There are two things that are implied by this definition. The first that is implied is that psychology is a science. This is including the conscious and unconscious mental states that are unable to be physically seen but can be observed. This modern-day definition of psychology brings attention to the history of psychology since it was recognized as a science in the 19th century.

Examples of what I have learned are, thinking critically with psychological sciences, the biology of behavior, consciousness and two-track mind, autonomic nervous system, and developing through a life span. These are all great examples of why psychology is so interesting to me. Today’s definition of psychology is the scientific study of behavior and
