Entry 12 : Anne’s diary was published in more than fifty countries. The play, based on her diary, won a Pulitzer Prize and was made into a movie. I think Anne’s diary and her story attracted so much attention because it shows you a glimpse of a young Jew’s life in hiding during the Holocaust. People are able to relate and identify with her diary because it shows you her teenage life in the Secret Annex. Anne explains how her life is in the Secret Annex and how she felt during her time there. She goes through all the things a teenage might go through. She fights with her parents, falls in love, wonders about the future, and you see her mature throughout her time in the Secret Annex all while experiencing the Holocaust. At first, she was playful,
“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely, or unhappy is to go outside... Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be”(Anne Frank). In the story, “Diary of a Young Girl”, by Anne Frank, Anne is a young Jewish girl who has to flee into hiding during the Holocaust and writes in her diary about what goes on. At the beginning Anne is sociable, but as the war progresses she becomes lonely. Therefore I believe that loneliness can change a person.
The events recounted in Anne Frank’s Diary took place during World War 11. By 1933, the strongest party in Germany had gained ultimate power with Hitler under their command. Hitler was Germany’s dictator who spread his gospel of racial hatred through politics. While poverty and unemployment were at an all time high he launched a campaign of anti-Semitism. Hitler’s main target was the Jews, claiming that they were “racially inferior.” He developed an idea of a Master Aryan Race, the need to rid Germany of “inferior people”, such as Jews and Gypsies, and the need to expand Germany’s borders. In doing this, he caused many Jews to abandoned their homes and go into total isolation. The Frank family
The book diary of Anne Frank is about a teenage girl named Anne Frank. For Anne upcoming birthday she requests a diary so that she can express her thoughts, feelings, and emotions that occur day to day in her daily life. Her parents give it to her and she starts to log about her daily life and relationships with her friends and family. But what she doesn 't realize is her diary docs her horrible life that she has in hiding during the holocaust. Within this book report, the analysis of the book will be given along with the summary of the book by chapter.
The holocaust was a horrible time in people's lives and it killed six million people. Even though this happened to so many people Anne Frank was someone that so many people look up to because of her diary that she wrote during this time. Anne Frank, her family, and the Van Danns all spent 25 months in the secret annex. Dussel was someone that came in later so it was very tight for 8 people to be living under certain circumstances for that long. They hoped to stay hidden until they were liberated but they were caught and sadly the only one that lived through the concentration camps was Mr.Frank. Many historical events took place in Anne Frank. Even though most of these things occurred while they were in hiding, it still changed the characters mood and relationships.
There are many qualities that people possess which make them a leader. For example, a leader is responsible and will own their actions instead of blaming other people. Also, a leader is creative. They can think outside of the box and come up with the most efficient solutions to complex problems. Furthermore, a good leader is honest and does not deceive others for their own selfish interests. Leaders are all this and much, much more. They are excellent communicators with lots of confidence and commitment. In the play, The Diary of Anne Frank, the character Mr. Frank expresses these traits and proves that he is a leader that people want to follow.
The Holocaust was a tragic event in history. It never should have happened, but it did, and the consequence of that was over 6,000,000 Jews and “inferior” people lost their lives. Those people who murdered the Jews seem evil in most people’s eyes, but not a young Jewish girl named Anne Frank. She said a quote that really amazes me. That quote was “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” In spite of all of the tragic events and the terror that was going on with Jews and Nazis and all of the rest of the world, she still sees, somehow, that everyone is good at heart, and not as evil as they seem to be. I agree with Anne, because of Miep, when she risked her life for the Franks, Van Danns, and Dussel to help them survive and hide in the Annex, even though she was Christian, not Jewish. Even though I still stick by my claim that people are good at heart, I can see how some people might disagree with me, based on Mr. Van Dann’s actions when he stole the food that needed to go to the children and the rest of the people, in order to survive.
Anne Frank was a 12 year old Jewish girl when she went into hiding. In 1942, Anne and her family moved to a secret annex behind a bookshelf in an office building. At that time, Hitler ruled Germany and wanted to extract the Jews and ship them to concentration camps. Here, they were forced into labor and then they were eventually murdered. In their two years of hiding, Anne showed many positive characteristics, despite the Jews going through such a harsh and deadly time. Sadly, Anne passed away at a concentration camp after two years of hiding on March 12th, 1945. However, her diary has inspired many people around the world. One of Anne's characteristics is optimism. She was always hopeful for the future and confident.
The Holocaust was one of history's most tragic events to occur. Millions upon millions of Jews lost their lives at the hands of people who did not want them there any longer. One of the Jews whom died, Anne Frank, said that “ In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” Even though she and her family and friends were forced to go through such terrible things, she was still able to look past them all, and see the positive outcome in everything. Anne Frank was one of history’s best models for optimism, and as for myself, I agree with her quote. After reading The Play of the Diary of Anne Frank, I see that Mr. Frank himself is a good example for this. However, I know there is another side to this argument, so I can see how someone might disagree with me on the quote. One of the reasons I agree with Anne is because she, herself, was kind to the people around her, no matter what. However, someone could say Mrs. Van Daan is a good example to disagree with this quote.
Many people are aware of the Holocaust, World War 2, Hitler, and Jews but some people don’t know the full story of what happened. Anne Frank and her family are forced into hiding during the Holocaust. Before they go into hiding Anne is given a diary. As they are in hiding she writes in her diary. They are in hiding for 25 months.
Anne’s diary starts off when she is 13 but ends shortly two years later when she dies. Before the whole war situation, Anne talked about her normal life. She talked about her friends, crushes, and school. But her father decides to move in hope of finding hiding from prosecution, so they move to the Netherlands. They are in hiding with another family, the van Daans and an associate, Mr. Dussel. Mr. Ottos employees helped them out with hiding, supplying them with food, medicine and information about whats going on. Anne and Peter van Daan become very close. Anne’s father does not approve of this new relationship. Anne goes through an incredible process of becoming a woman, questioning humanity, and in detail, her own identity. Being born a Jew,
Holocaust is historical event that people must remember. As a student of the University of California Irvine and a member of the ASUCI Cultural Committee, it is one of my obligation to determine the cultural event that is most appropriate for Holocaust Remembrance Day this coming spring. I think that the play of Francis Goodrich and Albert Hackett 's The Diary of Anne Frank is the most appropriate for it and should be produced at UCI for two strong reasons.
The holocaust is a sad event that happened in history. There were Jews who lost their lives because their religion was seen as a dangerous race to society. Many Jews lost their lives do to that judgement. This talks and goes on in the book The Diary Of Anne Frank. In the book the girl Anne Frank is very calm and collected in this time she said “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart. I believe that the quote is true. I say this because in the book they all had their days were they were all upset or sad, but other than that they all had a little happiness in them.
comparison I can think of is when I moved to middle school. I was the
Anne Frank: a young Jewish girl who lived in Europe with big dreams, and an even bigger heart. She had the jaw dropping ability to touch the hearts of millions around the world with her heart wrenching story swirling within the pages of her diary. She wrote down all her feelings in her little red checkered diary with the hopes of living to see it published and red by little children all over the world. Unfortunately, only half of that statement is true. Reading Anne Frank’s diary is a truly mind opening experience, and a plethora can be learned from it. Reading the play and watching the movie has given me some topics to say about her life and experience.
I chose the Diary of Anne Frank for my journal entry because the novel is quite popular, so I read it out of curiosity. Her diary was quite enjoyable therefore I wanted to explore it in depth.
