The hospitality industry has a lot of different sectors. It is commonly split into the 14 different sectors.

What we provide in the Hospitality industry is the intangible product. Customers will never feel or experience the product offered unless they have bought it. So, when they buy the services offered we must provide them with the best service possible so they will feel comfortable using our services. All the services provided such as, guest greeting, and providing a clean and tidy room, showing the facilities provided, and others are all forms types of hospitality. For example when the guests check into the hotel, we can not simply just give them the room key and let the guest look for their room without any assistance.
Hospitality is more than that; we have to be friendly, courteous, helpful and so forth.
Finally, the importance of hospitality is to encourage the guest to return again and become repeat customers. In the tourism industry, people are not just looking at the facilities or the price offered, but also looking at the services provided. If they felt satisfied with their previous experience using the service they might come again and even promote the services to others. This situation will generate more revenue for the company.

In relation to hospitality and catering, the non-commercial or “public” sector exists in the form of hospitals and institutes of education. Organisations in the commercial sector are privately owned and exist solely to find a niche to exploit to make money. While money-making is still a factor in the private sector, it is not the main goal. With the primary goal, demographic and expectations of the target audience, along with location and budget, all taken into account, different areas of the hospitality and catering industry begin to differ widely.
This sector works closely next to some other sectors within the hospitality industry. People frequently enter this moving sector from the fast food (quick service) outlets, restaurants, bars, cafes, pubs, catering or food services. Hotels were always major providers of food services, entertainment (business and conference services), leisure and sporting. (Cooper and Shepherd, 1998)
The scope of the hospitality industry refers to the range of businesses that provide services and facilities. The hospitality economy is one of the country’s key industries with huge growth prospects in jobs. In employment terms, restaurant are easily the largest sector, closely followed by a pubs, bars and club with the hotel sector growing more slowly, and the contract food service sector holding steady .
Customer care and efficient operations can give hospitality related business a decided competitive advantage, and improved technology in hospitality industry which allows these businesses change in both areas.
The reason for choosing the proposed topic was due to fact that the hospitality industry being in the service sector is of interest to me. The hotel industry has always fascinated me and would like to have more insight into the same, possibly for a career change or have a start up of my own.
