When people hear the word “college”, many panic inside at the thought. But, when I hear the word “college” I think about Illinois State University. In early July, I attended an Open House at ISU for my very first official college visit. As I stepped onto campus, I couldn’t but help to feel like it was my future home. Many aspects of the tour made me draw nearer to choosing this college after finishing my High School career. Illinois State University seems to fit my personality very well, has an amazing program for what I want to study, and is an outstanding campus for my academic strengths and weaknesses.
The University of North Carolina Wilmington gives a welcoming and home-like feeling to all who attend. Once I step foot on campus, it reminds me of the privilege I have of staying home. It has always been the college I've wanted to attend. The small and diverse community is what keeps me here in Wilmington, North Carolina and UNCW fulfills my dreams of not leaving. I find the mixture of races and gender to be essential in a community or school. It defines a person including their culture and allows everyone to be different from one another. It proves that we can all get along and work together to create greater changes as a whole; UNCW has that variety. However, not only does the diverse environment attract me, but so does the beautiful campus.
I am applying to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, because it is a large school with outstanding credentials, with a strong community and lots of school spirit. This is exactly what I am looking for for in my college environment. I want a large school population where I can meet new people every day, get involved in many activities, and where I can make connections and build relationships with my professors. I also look forward to living in snow again - I moved from Denmark to California a few years ago, and I miss the winter weather!

In my opinion, UW-Green Bay is a perfect fit for me because of my personal skills and traits. I have always been a natural leader among my peers, and I have always been willing to help anyone in need. Most importantly, University of Wisconsin-Madison appeals to me for its diversity of ways to learn. I am intrigued by First-Year Interest Groups(FIGs), Service Learning, the math department and the UW-Madison Software Development Club. The First-Year Interest Groups encourage the exploration of common themes, which has become a course in our high school, called colloquy. In colloquy, we have to read lots of materials about a certain social issue, discuss the issue, and write an essay about it. The process of exploring things beyond the border of subjects has always excited me, and I really want to continue such explorations in college. Different from colloquy, however, the First-Year Interest Groups provide unique views on the themes as participants are from different cultures. The variety of people and opportunity adds to the richness of the campus. The campus life offers the level of diversity I seek, the kind I can't find here at RCAD. The depressingly small, 1,200-student school prohibits me from learning anything about the world's cultural foundation, while NYU boasts excellent ethnic diversity. The atmosphere at RCAD is suffocating me. My growth is being stunted. I've done the research, identified my needs, and selected the school where I know I'll thrive. When I go off to college I plan to go to a college that fits me. College is important for anyone’s career, and I want to be successful. That is why the university I attend has to feel right, and inspire me to succeed. Washington University in St. Louis does that for me. WashU makes me challenge myself, and ensures me that it is the perfect place to go. Some of the university’s great qualities include their majors, the location, and the community.
Other than the stunningly jaw-dropping campus, beautiful Hyde Park in Chicago, and the brimming intellectual environment paired with an extensive academic focus, UChicago focuses less on the “I have to go to college” part of life, and more on the “I want to go to college” aspect. I felt the academic culture come to life at a UChicago Information Session I attended, listening to Mrs. Belak, the North Carolina regional admissions counselor, tell us all about UChicago was the final “brick in the wall” for me. I was already set on wanting to go to UChicago, but after the Information Sessions, I was so very ecstatic at the chance of studying in Chicago for my next 4 years. Because I couldn’t schedule a tour based on finances and distance, I tried my best to immerse myself in anything I could get online, from virtual tours, videos from current and former students, dorm tours, drone footage of the campus, and previous ViewChicago live streams.
