Since 1923, Walt Disney has provided people of all ages with tons of entertainment (Dole). From cartoons to theme parks, Disney has done it all. Everywhere you turn there is a Disney creation. He has single-handedly taken over the motion picture industry. He was very creative, funny, and imaginative. Walt Disney has lived a very interesting life full of adventure.
Walt Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 5, 1901 (Cole 9-10). His family had a small farm, and that is where he developed a love for animals (Cole 14). There he started working with Universal studios and was an immediate success (Dole). At Universal Studios, he created many cartoons and characters we still love today, such as Mickey Mouse (Dole). In 1957, Disney decided to branch out and open up a theme park (Jolley). This park was Disneyland, which grew to be the most successful amusement park ever (Jolley). He was in the process of creating Disney World, but died of lung cancer before it was created (Jolley). The park was built anyway and opened in 1971 (Jolley). Walt Disney opened a university called “The California Institute of the Arts” (Dole). Regarding the school, he said, "If I can help provide a place to develop the talent of the future, I think I will have accomplished something” (Dole). He also went on to win many awards. He even holds a record for the most Academy Awards won (Jolley). He has taught us all valuable lessons, whether it be in his cartoons or from him as a person. Overall, Walt Disney was a true inspiration. He showed children and even adults that they could be whatever they wanted to be. “I’ve always been bored with just making money.
