Meaning of Christ
Several scholars refer to Jesus as the “New Adam.” There are several similarities and differences that support this conclusion. Both Adam and Jesus were created a as a perfect man. They possessed human capabilities, and they were sinless, holy, and had a relationship with God. They were both also created human, but as an incarnate of God1. In other words, they were God in the flesh, but Adam was made in the image of God while Jesus was made in the image of the “invisible God” 2. Unlike Adam, Lord Jesus was, divine, having the attributes, privileges, and names of deity. Being fully God, He is worthy of worship1. Also unlike Jesus, Adam had a limited domain as the head of the human race and the created world, while Jesus

“Because of his sin, death came upon all men, ‘For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). His sins caused death and pain to all of humanity. In his article writer Noel Scoburgh wrote that Adam may have been tempted to disobey God because he lacked humility and his pride as a human got in the way 4. Like many other people, Scoburgh believes that Adam ate from the tree because he wanted to be all knowing and knowledgeable like God 4. He wanted to be God.
Jesus, like Adam, was also tempted by Satan. He was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit for forty days to be tempted by the devil 5. Unlike Adam in Paradise, Jesus was in the wilderness with nothing around. Jesus was also fasting for those forty days. The devil used Jesus’ vulnerable situation to try and get him to disobey God in what is called the Three Temptations. The devil tempted Jesus to turn stones to bread in an attempt to get Jesus to feed himself instead of waiting for God to supply his needs when he felt the time was right 5. And Jesus replied “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. 5" The devil also tempted Jesus to jump from the pinnacle of the Jerusalem Temple to try and manipulate God into protecting Jesus 5. And Jesus replied, “You shall not tempt the Lord your God.5" In the last temptation the devil tried to convince Jesus to bow down to him by telling Jesus that he would give him all
Things change when the serpent appeared to Eve and talked her into eating from the exact tree that God commanded them to eat from. Genesis 3:6 says, “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate” (NIV). This is where the root of all human problems began. This is why all humans are born as sinners.
The book of Genesis records the creation of the world and everything in it, as well the early relationship between God and humanity. God creates man, Adam, “from the dust of the ground” (Genesis 2:7) and places him in a paradise on Earth called the garden of Eden, where he also places the tree of knowledge of good and evil. From the man, God creates a woman and tells them that they “may freely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of knowledge of good and evil [they] shall not eat, for in the day that [they] eat of it [they] shall die (Genesis 2:16). Despite this warning, the woman, Eve, is eventually tempted to eat the fruit of the treat and convinces Adam to do the same, causing them to be cast out of the garden. Although Adam and Eve do have free will to do what they
The second temptation the Devil poses is for Jesus to cast Himself down on the ground from a high cliff to prove that He is the son of God. Jesus refuses, reminding Satan that the Scriptures say "do not tempt the Lord your God." The Inquisitor claims that even if man were to have "earthly bread" in abundance, without a "stable conception of the object of life," man would not continue to live, and any who would lead men must captivate their consciences. Only three powers can do this, says the Inquisitor: miracle, mystery, and authority. In the first temptation, Jesus rejected the first power, and now is rejecting the second. The Inquisitor says, "And I ask Thee again... couldst Thou believe for a moment that men, too, could face such a temptation?" Once again, Jesus is refusing to captivate the souls of men by force.
In the Bible after Jesus was baptized Jesus fasted for forty days and forty nights. While he was fasting, Satan appeared and tried to tempt Jesus into turning bread out of stones. Jesus did not fall for the temptations but Victor did fall for the temptations from his supernatural source playing in his mind.
often referred to as the Son of God.) I feel that these are the two
In Genesis three God states “You shall not eat of it or touch it, lest you die.” God is testing Adam and Eve, and they failed. God would not let them perish from eating the fruit but he wanted to test the two so that he knew whether they were loyal or not. God similarly tests Cain’s loyalty after he gives Abel more favor for his offering than Cain and states, “Surely, if you do right, there is uplift.
Explain the role of the army and its use for political purposes during this period.
The Bible tells us that Satan is an expert tempter and he tempts us in three areas of our humanity which are the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (1Joh 2:16 KJV). We can see these three things in his attempt to tempt Jesus in the wilderness to sin against God. Jesus had fasted for forty days without food and was hungry so Satan challenges Jesus to turn stones into bread, but Jesus responds to the temptation with Scripture. (Mat 4:3 KJV) And when the tempter came to him, he said if thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. (Mat 4:4) But he answered and said, it is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every
In the wilderness, Jesus is tested by the Devil to give into temptation. In the religious figure’s brief exposure to solitude in the desert to express his own faith in God, the Devil said to him, “‘If you are the Son of God,’ he said, ‘throw yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’ Jesus answered him, ‘It is also written:’Do not put the Lord your God to the test’” (Matthew 4:1-11).
Eve began to doubt God’s goodness and was easily tricked by Satan and he convinced her that she “would surely not die” if she ate from the tree in the middle of the garden and even though she knew she was never to touch the tree, let alone eat from it, she fell victim to Satan’s trickery and ate from the tree causing her to see the difference between good and evil and persuade her husband Adam to also eat from the which was unpleasing because of their disobedience causing them to be banished from The Garden of Eden.
However, a concept and question haunted my mind. Why exactly did Adam eat the fruit? The deceitful snake lied to me, so I took the fruit; yet, I did not lie to Adam about the fruit. Instead of guilt and sadness, I finally felt angry. I was angry that Adam had put all the blame on me, as well as let me blame myself! We were supposed to be one, yet I felt so alone and detached. The thick darkness settled slowly in between Adam and I, turning his once, clear, bright, beautiful body into nothing but a shadow of a wretched silhouette.
The bible remains a mystery to many people in society today. Therefore, the relationship between God and Adam can be said to be a very complex relationship. Genesis shows us many examples of God 's interaction with Adam, apparently there is so much more about God’s disappointment and righteous anger in the garden. The world of Christianity fails to see there’s so much more to the story about God and Adam, I think many of us do the same. He was the first man, the father of mankind, however, Genesis does not fill-in the missing background information as to the reasons why man and woman came to be the first rational, mortal creations of God 's divinity. Moreover, most believers in the Bible do not know the specific similarities and differences regarding the two humans ' characteristics, and how their relationship impact each other as well as all other living creatures in the garden. We see the wrath, but we miss the grace. The bible does not tell if Adam was Baptized and upon his death he went to heaven, however many of religious leaders tried to read and to the relationship between god and Adam, without facts to back it up. Non statement should not be used to formulate doctrine. A conclusion cannot be drawn from something that God did not say. If Adam had been faithful, God may have had any number of plans for Adam, none of which are touched upon in Genesis. If all other aspects of earthly creation tend to decay and death it makes as much sense to conclude that human 's
Currently I hold a client porter position, which is an excellent job, but I am intent on building a career utilizing my skills and talents in new and more challenging ways working as a unit clerk in the emergency room department at the Pasqua Hospital. Unexpectedly, the unit clerk position came into focus for me during an ordinary day when I had the opportunity to learn that the unit clerk, who inspired me to choose the office assistant career, is an integral part of the emergency department. The pivotal event began when a man approached the admitting desk and collapsed. With a code blue called on the unidentified patient, the entire department ignited into action. While the doctors’ and nurses’ concentration was solely on the needs of the
After being baptized, Jesus went into a wilderness in Judea. There he fasted for forty days and forty nights. He was hungry and weary. The devil came to tempt him while he was at a low point in his life. Known for taking the easy way out, the devil tried three times to get Jesus to do what he asked. One of the requests was to bow down and worship the devil. All three times Jesus was strong and held on to his faith. Finally, after the last request Jesus sent the devil on his way.
take inventory of where he stood in answering the call of God. Surely, he and his wife stood trembling among the fig trees, with a sentence of death upon them, in their own religious covering of fig leaves, yet naked before the justice of God that sees and knows everything. Now, with their God-given free will, they had to make a decision to accept or to reject God 's call. Adam heard God 's call and responded. The Holy Spirit drew them to answer the call. Because of the Holy Spirit 's convincing and convicting power bringing about repentance, Adam and Eve knew that it would be in their best of interest to follow God 's call. God received and restored their fellowship.
