This paper is a written evaluation of three websites that were designed to reach a specific target audience. All three sites' reach their target audience, however they accomplish this in a slightly different way. During this paper, we will discuss the strength and weaknesses of each site, the design criteria used to evaluate them, and how to improve some of the weaknesses associated with each site. In order to evaluate each site and ensure they were designed to reach the same target audience we had to first determine what their target audience was, we accomplished this by asking a couple of questions about each site. Our ten design criteria are bugs/mistakes, navigation, color design, graphic use, content presentation, functionality, design setup, accessibility, use of multimedia, and browser issues with sub-topics under each of these areas (reference table 1 for a description of each criteria). When researching information on websites, there are many credentials that should be looked at. Credentials can include looking up the author names, checking the validation of the information, looking at dates and researching the articles published. The objective of our usability test was to develop a significant and vertical understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the Michigan Daily website from a wide demographic group. With many different users logging in to the daily website everyday, we aimed to discover what errors were made, why they were made, and how we can ameliorate those mistakes in order to create a clean, aesthetic, and functioning website. The underlying theme of our usability results can be identified more clearly with the analysis of the 3 stages of the test, pre-test questions, the usability logging results, and post-test questions.
