Experiences Aside from the many responsibilities, I was given additional opportunities to experience what all Genesis had to offer. Throughout my experience, I attended a number of meetings, training sessions, observed the Human Resources department, as well as given an assignments to determine a way to improve the financial assistance process. About every other week, our department conducted a team meeting. During the meetings, we would discuss new information, plans and suggestions, as well as issues needing to be addressed. For example, we would discuss the financial assistance process and determine how we could improve or speed up the process. In addition to the team meetings, I was also given the opportunity to attend this quarters Revenue Cycle meeting. This was an exciting opportunity as I was able to meet new people from different departments that had a role in the revenue cycle. In addition, I was able to see the relationship between the many different departments and how we are integrated into one. Furthermore, I was educated on the up-incoming changes like the update to our health IT system, Epic, which will be happening in August. In addition, I learned how the HealthPlex alone has increased patient satisfaction and wait time substantially since the last revenue cycle meeting. Lastly, I learned about the things that we need to work on like correctly filing insurance claims and to improve communication between departments. Overall, I found my experience of
The rotations through the hospital entities and the integration into the daily activities of management will provide countless learning opportunities and exposure to various types of leadership and management skills and form a strong mentor relationship. It will provide an opportunity to gain a comprehensive, high-level view of the entire organization while simultaneously gaining in-depth understanding and experience in specific areas of most interest. Having the
My eagerness to learn and extend myself fostered a positive and trustworthy relationship with my organisation manager and staff. As a result, I was able to engage in a myriad of roles and activities such as; driving the company van to pick up food donations or deliver furniture to clients, supervising the community craft program, using the company credit card to purchase required resources, and operating as the receptionist and emergency relief worker. In addition, I was also asked to attend a network meeting as a representative of The Salvation Army Doveton, thus engaging with people from various organisations in the local community.
The biggest distractions as an acute care leader that impacts my work are numerous administrative meetings; they tend to take up most of my daily schedule leaving me with little time to talk to the patients. To alleviate this challenge I have allocated time on my daily calendar to participate in bedside inter-disciplinary and leader rounding on the unit with the team to discuss patient plan of care with other healthcare teams, patient and family. This time allocation enables me to have designated time dedicated to making sure the patient receives my professional presence that supports
The meeting is set up to go for two days and the agenda is set up to go through each person at a fast pace but allowing for a thorough discussion on each matter. I watched the meeting on Thursday September 17, 2015 from 12pm-4pm and was able to understand the importance of the actions as a nurse and
In this experience we had the chance to learn and experience new skills and capabilities. The
During week one meet with staff and providers to discuss the research that supports my change project. Also, randomly talking with patients to get their input and what they feel would meet their learning needs. Meeting with the stakeholders from my clinic. Mrs. Jones, like many older adults, is on a fixed income, has Medicare for health coverage, but lacks prescription drug coverage. She was recently prescribed a new medication by her physician, which she cannot afford. As Mrs. Jones nurse, it is my responsibility to advocate for her by providing education and sharing information on the multiple different avenues available to decrease the cost of the medication prescribed. I will identify three strategies in which I can help Mrs. Jones afford her medication. First, I will provide education on her insurance plan and explain Medicare Drug Plans and their enrollment process. Secondly, I will identify a financial assistance program which she might qualify for. Finally, I will identify different ways to lower the cost of the medication such as coupons, drug discount cards, switching to a generic medication, and store programs ("Prescription Drug," 2014). All of these options are a solution to Mrs. Jones problem. In the meantime, it may be beneficial to obtain free samples from the physician 's office if possible, but this only makes sense if there is a strong likelihood that she will eventually be able to afford the new medication.
We have case conferencing once a week and morning huddles every morning.” The last question I asked Mary was, “Are there department meetings? If yes what is discussed and when are they held?” Mary responded, “Department meetings get together as much as possible all the dentists will meet and so on.” The first part of the nine aspects I would like to talk about is Business Planning. Business Planning is how an organization plans including goals. At Dental Associates they have morning huddles, case conferencing weekly and department meetings every so often to discuss and go over goals and patient care. The next one is Management. This is how they structure and process for effectively accomplishing their goals. They have teams in their office. Each doctor/ dentist has their own team including hygienists, assistants, relationship coordinators, and financial coordinators. Next is Health Safety and Environment. This deals with workplace safety. Every time they have a needle incident where one of the workers accidently sticks themselves with a needle they are required to fill out paperwork regarding what happened. Another aspect is Community Issues. This is the role
The president introduced us to everyone including the members of the phone conference. They all went around and introduced their selves and spoke a little about their title and what they do. I introduced myself and they asked a few questions about my nursing interests and when I would be graduating. They reminisced about when they graduated and took the NCLEX, and spoke about how the field of nursing has so many opportunities. They also spoke about how a lot of people have the wrong idea about what long term care is, and emphasized that long term care encompasses many distinct levels of acuity and facility types. During the meeting, they were informative and explained a lot so that we knew what they were talking about as far as quality improvement initiatives and revisions to certain
When you are standing in the checkout line at your local grocery store do you ever think about how the person in front of you is paying for their groceries? Most citizens do not take a second thought at other peoples payment methods if it means they can get out of the store swiftly as possible. In the United States on average about 21.3 percent of Americans receive welfare assistance that is approximately 52.2 million people. Welfare assistance is a program that provides money through a variety of programs consisting of: food stamps, Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). Americans suffer income complications everyday trying to make it by, but looking
If you have a job and pay taxes, do you ever wonder where your hard earned money ends up? You probably would think that it goes to someone on welfare, who is trying to succeed in their life, trying to make ends meet and might need a little financial help. In other words, someone who really needs it, but unfortunately it usually ends up in the hands of people who take advantage of the welfare system, and takes the opportunity to purchase drugs and/or drug paraphernalia. To avoid situations like this, welfare recipients should be tested monthly for drugs to make sure they are not cheating the welfare system for government aid.
I believe that in order for health care administrators to give awesome communication to their employees that they must conduct meetings. I think that bi-weekly meetings should be held but when you are dealing with health care that’s too frequently based on the fast pace of it. As a health care administrator I would make it my job to hold a monthly meeting so that I can keep an open line of communication between my employers and me. For this meeting I will give a presentation that will explain all things new or changing within the facility. Before the meeting end it will be known that anyone can
Monthly staff meetings are to ensure that staff are providing quality and safety care to their patients. Allowing everyone to elaborate why they feel a certain way, why something isn’t being done right, and to keep everyone on the same page in regards to providing care for a patient

assistance to low income individuals and families. An estimate of 1.8 million New Yorkers and a total of 46.3 million Americans participate in the SNAP program. Despite the large number of individuals on food stamp the Census Bureau reports in 2010 3.9 million people were lifted above the poverty line and 5 million in 2012 all because of the assistance from SNAP. However the federal government has threaten to cut back on the budget for SNAP. In January 2014 the Farm bill was proposed which included an 8.7 million cut to the SNAP program for the next 10 years. Obama later signed the bill into law on February 7, 2014 saying that the Bill would help create more jobs, move the economy forward and give Americans more equal opportunity (Resnikoff 1). Despite the government’s reasons for the budget cut 850 thousand households would be losing an average of 90 dollars per month (Resnikoff 1). This is unfortunate because reports have shown that SNAP is not only an effective federal program but it also has a positive outcome for individuals. Even in the previous statistics, going from 3.9 million to 5 million people lifted above the poverty line in only a two year difference is a significant breakthrough for low income individuals. It is often easy to find yourself falling under the poverty line, but harder to pick yourself back up. Many individuals who are against the program believe that being on food stamps makes an individual more government dependent and takes away the drive for
