In this paper I will be telling you about a study skill that works well for me. This study skill is effective reading. I believe that this skill works best for logical learners for many reasons. There are many different ways people can be effective readers, but I have found a three step process that allows people to have a better understanding of being an effective reader. You do not necessarily have to follow the three steps I will be telling you about to be an effective reader. You can do this however you want it just needs to work for you.
STUDY SKILLS 2

An effective reader is someone who can read fluently, comprehend what they have read, and most of the time they can make use of what they read. An effective reader is also someone who wants to read and wants to get something out of the text. I

I also think this would work best for the example and reasons I talked about in the previous paragraph. I use this skill every time I study if I need to read something and this also works well with notes. I think it works well with notes only if you take good notes and highlight the main parts and important things. I think it is important to try new study skills because if you always use the same one and it doesn't seem to be working you need to try a new one because using the same study skill that doesn't work leads to bad test scores. But if you have a study skill that works well for you and results with good test scores you should stick with it and continue doing what you're doing. And if you think a study skill is working for you it may not be so you need to try out new

In this essay I will go through the most important skills that I acquired in the last few years in relation to the ones needed in the industry. In addition, I will also look at my weaknesses and what I can do to overcome them.
Study skills are used in everyday life. They are the skills you will need to study and learn with. Using skills to study is best for your own personal needs and will help you out a lot throughout life. Study skills are not just used for students. When people develop study skills they find what skills are best for them. It usually comes naturally as you go through school and do homework. From experience, you find what study skills are best for your learning and what skills are not. You also need to practice the skill that works best for you. It is also good to try other study skills because something else might work out better for you. I used to love working in groups but now I would prefer to work alone most of the time. That is because it usually seems like one person is doing most of the work while the other person isn't. This is why study skills are important.
Reading: Locates, understands, and interprets written information in prose and documents--including manuals, graphs, and schedules--to perform tasks; learns from text by determining the main idea or essential message; identifies relevant details, facts and specifications; infers or locates the meaning of unknown or technical vocabulary; and judges the accuracy, appropriateness, style, and plausibility of reports, proposals, or theories of other writers.( 134 USDOL)

Many people have never considered, in-depth, the idea of what makes a good reader. Surface level first idea that pops into many people's’ heads is someone who can read fast and understand the text. In reality, the definition is debatable and much more complex. Being able to define a good reader allows for us to have a goal or guideline of what we, as individual readers, should be doing or striving to do. Some view a good reader as someone who can analyze and really dig into the text, while others argue that the reader should really have a passion for reading and enjoy the text.
REAL reading strategies can be used to remind students of how to read informational text. The strategies are:
The read/write learner is advised to: develop lists, make outlines, obtain study guides, take notes, and write words to the notes several times. It is also recommended to read notes silently, rewrite and paraphrase ideas into other words. Converting graphs, charts, and diagrams into worded statements help the student with a strong read/write preference to understand the meanings contained in the visual material. Meaning is found in words; therefore the student with a read/write learning preference should search for words that describe the meaning of a concept by breaking the concept into textual points. (Fleming, n.d.).
The reason that most people High School don’t have good study skills is because they were not taught proper study habits in Elementary School, where this should be taught.
This fall semester in ESL 91has been pretty interesting, and so far successful. The main object of this semester was to improve our essay writing. We were taught various lab techniques that helped us to improve our English writing skills, such as using appropriate verb tense and how to write a research paper with a works cited. Through my work on the research paper I have learned how to write in an academic style, how to find appropriate sources from an academic database, and how to cite my sources. Most of all, I can say that my reading skills have improved because the research for our papers required me to do a lot of critical reading.
As a read and write learner, I like taking notes in class and I read over these notes or copy them out. I take my time to study at my own pace and in a quiet environment, I love studying ahead of time to gather and collect all the information needed to understand and also learn a new task to achieve new skills I require. When I’m listening to a lecture for instance, I like to take notes, make bullet points for my reading, and I also turn illustrations into words and check the dictionary for word meanings for me to understand when I study. I check out information in library, textbooks and handouts for better
Studying skills will help you be more successful as well, there is also to much studying. To much studying can cause stress, and dense learning habits, also pushing your self to hard may ruin learning skills and cause your self to feel bad, or not as intelligent. Study skills for tests, quizzes, and exams is very important. Evenly spreading out study time will increase memory of the subjects you learn. Taking frequent breaks will make studying less stressful. Using flash cards, web sites, computers, or just a pencil and paper are all great ways to study. Having an answer sheet to refer to, and look over when your done will also help study and learning skills because it can help you see what you did wrong and need to fix. Having a study group or club before big tests, like exams or diplomas, will help you have more fun with your friends when studying.
Both activities have shown me that the definition of a complex problem is in itself complex (Funke, 1991) and is subject to many interpretations by different researchers (Gray, 2002 and Wenke et al, 2005). It has also shown me that presenting a problem in a different manner can affect how the solutions are thought about (Gambrill, 2006).
Reading is an act of perception, analysis, and interpretation done by the reader to get the message to be conveyed by the author in media writing. According to Farr (in Dalman, 2013: 5) suggests that "Reading is the Heart of Education, the reading of reading comprehension is an essential prerequisite for mastery and enhancement of students' knowledge, so after reading the text the reader should be able to understand the text. First, give information, for example by reading newspapers and magazines, secondly, give entertainment, for example by reading a novel. The third one, most importantly reading can provide new knowledge. The book can provide understanding as well as entertaining and providing information.
