Who Was Adolf Hitler Who was Adolf Hitler? How did he gain his title? Why did he start WW11II? How did he treat his prisoners and his own people? These are all questions that people ask when they think of the Germans in World War 11II. Some people think of Hitler as being a power hungry dictator that only wanted more power, but this is completely wrong. Hitler only wanted to purify the German race and gain more living space for them. Growing up, Hitler had a rather harsh life, one that led him to be the strong and powerful individual that he became. This is mainly because he started the war. The Battle of France was a battle between Germany and France. Hitler started the battle because he didn’t like the idea of having a two front war, meaning that he didn’t want a war on both sides of the country. So he attacked France, and won. Another major battle that Hitler was involved in was the Battle of Moscow. Moscow was considered extremely important, military and politically. Hitler started out and wanted to make it to Moscow before winter. In December, he was only nineteen miles away. When they got to the city, the bitter Winter hit. German soldiers weren’t prepared for the extreme cold of Russia and were easily driven out of the city. One of the most important battles that Germany was involved in was the Battle of Stalingrad. The battle was devastating for the Germans. Hitler went in over confident since the bitter weather wasn’t an issue anymore; and he did well at first. At one point, German troops held 90 percent of the city. The Germans were surrounded and counter-attacked, losing a total of 841,000 men.
