Who Is A Good Friend?

It seems like every week I am walking into a new restaurant. Whether it be because a good friend came in to town or I am just too lazy to cook, it is as if a menu is never too far from my hands. I have not the least bit of shame either. I know the negative connotation that is related to constantly eating at restaurants and I fear it not. For over time, I have become accustomed to the very art that is the restaurant experience, and in this custom I have developed a blindness to the negativity and illumined to the true experience that is dining out. You may call me an addict but I prefer the term connoisseur. Because with the atmosphere comes the flavor. Even the driest steak can drip with blood if the seats are right and the service is accommodating. In the three aforementioned restaurants, will I illustrate how eateries are perfectly classified by their type of ambiance. Most cafes are set up in a similar fashion. Upon arrival, you hear the sound of soft jazz music or introspective instrumental songs playing out over a P.A. You go to the counter and meet a “hip”, “young”, and “cool”, barista and receive coffee that (if judged in an objective nature) tastes like any other coffee. At least it should, but because on the way to the counter, you passed by several different types of arm rest chairs (each from different decades), and felt the soothing glow of the soft lighting ornamenting each fixture, the thought of this coffee grows increasingly stylistic, and upon the first sip of Java you say to yourself, “Man this place really knows how to make a cup of Joe!” Sadly, it is all a façade, a beautiful euphoric facade. In case you doubt my assessment, be sure to know that all cafes are generally known by this atmosphere. Maybe the chairs are of different sorts and styles, but the concept will remain. Maybe the music is the sweet musical stylings of Norah Jones instead of the composition of Louie Armstrong, but the idea is still there. Let us not forget one of the greatest sensations aroused while in a café: the desire to study. Is it not marvelous?
