Freshman face three types of problems going into colleges, which are money issues, the freshman 15, and laziness. Coming into college students are not aware on how money works with financial aid. So, they expect to get a huge sum of money but really only get a couple hundred. Also, they have to survive off that sum of money until they get a job or next semester. The second problem is “The Freshman 15” which is a weight gain of 15 pounds. Freshmen are typically not aware of their weight, because they are focusing on school work and due dates. Also, they are trying to get comfortable with their campus. The last problem is freshman tend to be lazy and expect everything to be handed to them like high school. That is not the case; teachers are there

Let’s be realistic, just because we are starting off college and going into a entirely new environment, and experiencing a different level of education, does not mean we are going to get fat and gain 15 pounds. The thought of gaining 15 pounds seems overly questionable. According to Thrillist, the term “Freshman 15” was first used in a 1989 issue of the Seventeenth magazine (Anderson). The subheading of the cover was dubbed “Fighting the Freshman 15”, which was to fight against body shaming of gaining 15 pounds as a college freshman. Freshman 15 is completely fictional because students don’t actually gain 15 pounds, students gain weight throughout the years in college , and students lose weight.

I have so many reason why I wanted to attend DCCC and each decision that I make at DCCC is that I’m gonna face it till the very end of my courses. I always wonder how can I get a step further in life and how can I get my stuff done and start early and there was an option that was given to me in my 8th grade year and it was a sign up for an orientation for Yadkin Valley Regional Career Academy a school where you can learn how to start you career and be professional looking/acting when applying for a job that suit you better. I came to Yadkin Valley for orientation where you can check the school out, but I had a little problem I didn’t have my glasses so couldn’t really see how the school look because my eyes were blurry, but I notice that I really didn’t need to see just listen to the teachers and how they talk and communicate and how they tell us what we be learning and discover while we are here at Yadkin Valley and what they have in store for us and then I heard a
Other than freshman 15, where you gain weight, there is also the possibility of losing weight due to stress and not having a proper meal to eat everyday. The meal plans in a college campus are as bad as if you are purchasing a meal in a restaurant. The food put out is greasy and has more fat. Some colleges even have a meal plan that is all you can eat. That will of course make you gain weight if you take in consideration the money you put into the plan. Not all food given there are healthy and can cause you to begin eating wrong.
Freshman year, the year of many first; the first time living away from home, the first time being away from friends, the first time a student has control of their own learning. Freshman year requires a lot of discipline, but a lot of students do not possess this trait. The factors that contribute to the success of first year college students are social support, comfort within the college environment, self control, responsibiliy and positive self concept.
I would like to attend college because I want to be able to demonstrate not only to myself but to my family that we can do what we set ourselves to do. I would to do go far in this life and accomplish my life goals. Without college, I will not be able to do my goals. My goals are to graduate from college, one day own my own land so that I can own my own agricultural business, and have my home there too, and I want to be a high school Spanish teacher as well. Another reason as to why I want to attend college is that I want to be able to show my little sister that anything is possible, we can do whatever we set ourselves to do, as long we do not give up we will be able to accomplish great things in life. My teachers have also been a great influence
Freshmen are overwhelmed by new lives and the availability of wonderful, fattening food, but if they watch what they eat, avoid alcohol and exercise they will have much less to worry about. Students should enjoy and not dread college life. They should leave with friendships and good memories not honey buns and beer bellies.
I want to hold the position for Miss Freshman because I know that I’d be a great representative. Everyone is equal so I cannot say that I will be better than anyone, but I can certainly say that I will do my best. I am capable of taking on the challenges that lie ahead if I am voted for this position. I know if I were Miss Freshman of the class of 2020 I could make a couple of major changes in the students. I am a good leader, I’m very dependable, and I know how to set good examples. I am also a very reliable person and any task that I receive will be one of my main priorities. I am an approachable person and an awesome communicator and listener. My best effort will absolutely be put into this job. I am a very well organized and neat person. I am also an assertive person and I am without a doubt going to

do you think it's important to go to college straight out of high school ?
You ask, why do I want to attend college? , probably expecting the most common response of a heart to heart sob story coming from a not so fortunate young lady residing in Sanford, Florida. I am not taking that option I like to call the “easy toll” paying everyone a feeling that results in a sign of sympathy. I don’t need sympathy; I wish to just impress anyone just by my intellect ways and showing that I am headstrong. There are a numerous amount of reasons why I would love to attend college but the main three is that it really is the only possible way to become comfortably successful, my ancestors fought for me to even go to school and further my education, and to make the woman that raised me proud.
One thing I really liked that the article analyzed was the boomerang effect that is seen when harsh punishments are inflicted in course polices that, “some students choose to not only be absent from class but to drop out of college” (434). This is something that I never knew. I understand that some students disdain being told what to do and like the autonomy to do whatever they wish, but having that feeling for something like college, it is disconcerting. College is something that you/someone pays for, they shouldn’t have to force you to come to class; isn’t that what you're paying for? To go to class, hopefully learn something, become well-rounded, get their degree and get out into the world. I understand college isn’t for everyone and there
Based on my own experiences as a college student, I can relate to the point made in the Hoffman (2006) article regarding the freshman 15 where studies show that freshman students tend to gain weight due to poor eating habits because during my freshman year, I consumed a significant amount of restaurant food because I wanted to explore Merced. However, I am not so sure about their point that the freshman 15 is hard to control because there are certain measures that can be taken in order to ensure healthy eating. One method is to get at least 60 minutes of exercise a day. This is what I have been doing throughout my college career and it has helped out tremendously in terms of weight
College isn’t a place where some people wanna go to because it’s too much money, too many years, and it could also be a lot of stress. You don’t necessarily have to go to college to become successful there is a lot of people out they're that didn’t go to college but are still successful. For example, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Amancio Ortega, etc. Even though college has some cons there are also some pros to it.But some people think it’s a place they wanna go to.
