Owning a gun is legal in the United States for self-defense or hunting or sports, and it’s the second amendment. However, in recent years, violence has significantly increased in the USA because of guns. There are more cases of children and young adults engaging in violence or getting caught in the crossfire. It is shameful to say that almost every day we hear about some gun violence. Guns can be used for self-defense or sports, however they also can be used for robbing, shooting and many other violent purposes. We can get safety and reduce crime rate by banning guns. These are the reasons why guns should be banned. First of all, guns should be banned because of safety. Banning guns will help to reduce unwanted accidents. Banning gun will prevent criminals from getting guns. Nowadays everybody can easily get a gun because of having access to guns, and criminals take this advantage. They easily get dead weapons and use them for their own purposes. As a result, there are mass shooting, robbing, murders everywhere. Banning guns would also lead to less violence. If guns were banned, nobody would have guns to commit crime. Therefore, there will not have violence in the future as much as we have now. On the other hand, critics are concerned that guns should not be banned because owning guns are their right, and they can carry guns for self-defense. However, I still believe that guns should be banned because people use guns to kill others. Even though they use guns for self-defense, guns are easier weapons to kill someone. Gun owners engaging in self-defense are taking the law into their own hands which is wrong. Last but not least, guns should be banned because people are misusing it. It will help us from unwanted accidents and prevent crime. There will be less crime in the future by banning guns. We want to live in a nice world without violence. I strongly recommend those, who do not want guns to be banned, to think twice about its negative side before they go to an
“A Chicago Uber driver who’s licensed to carry a gun wounded a gunman who was firing on a crowd of people”-Source A. This is claimed as self defense and what do you think will happen if that courageous cab driver left that gunman alone? The crowd will die, including the driver, and worse things will happen. When somebody is trained properly, guns are the best way of self defense and a ban takes their hobby away. Many people believe that school shootings like Sandy Hook happen because of guns. Important to realize, this is false because the shooter grew up being picked every day and caused depression and stress through his life. As Source C states, “gun owners need to grieve us”, not all of them do. In effect, not only self-defense, but also recreational activities is also a purpose for being against gun control. In Source B, it states that, “People want to own guns for recreational purposes.” Several people who own firearms utilize them for deer hunting while others. As an illustration, there is a sport called Action Shooting which people utilize firearms to see how many targets they could hit. Although this may be true, there is more to
One of the main topics concerning gun control is crime rate. Crime rate could increase if guns are banned. It is so easy for criminals to get their hands on guns, whether they are illegal or not. Guns are not the problem in the country, it is the person with the weapon. It does not matter how much the government regulates gun control, they cannot regulate the people. Banning guns will not stop crime rate from going up. The U.S. has an estimated amount of 220+ million guns and machine tools, so criminals can easily make their own weapons (“Will You Be”). The United States will only be in more trouble if guns are banned. Banning guns does not mean criminals will automatically stop what they are doing. Most criminals illegally make and buy their own weapons, anyway. Most of the crimes committed are not with the use of a gun. Many are used with different types of weapons or tools. “Getting rid of guns does not get rid of violence. Some people think that
While many people believe there should be more gun control and the possibility of banning guns all together, I believe the gun control laws should not be changed. Although there are many reasons that may persuade people to choose to ban guns, I believe that there are several other reasons that lead to all the tragedies with guns in America. Banning guns is not an answer the gun problem in America, there are a few other things that could be done to stop gun violence. In this essay I will tell about why I believe gun control laws should not be changed.
My greatest argument for banning guns, is that is has worked in other countries. In Australia once guns were banned, the violence dropped by 50%. A counter to that would be
Some say that guns should be banned, but people like hunters or gun owners disagree. Instead of banning them completely, the government can just strengthen the gun laws. Guns should be a privilege and not a right for people who use them incorrectly. People should prove that they would be responsible with guns by undergoing mandatory training, knowing how to safely keep them locked away, and practice gun ownership properly.
The argument of whether guns should be banned has become increasingly popular as more and more shootings occur. Since 2006 there have been thirty-two mass shootings in the United States alone. This is one of the biggest debates going on right now and there are many people who are willing to argue both sides of it. In Phoebe Maltz Bovy's article "It's Time to Ban Guns. Yes, All of Them." she argues for gun control. Evan DePhillips and Devin Hughes also argues for gun control in their article "5 arguments against gun control- and why they're wrong"
Numbers in murders and harm all around the United States have been rising due to guns. Rather it’s intentional or accidental the topic has blown up causing many arguments. I believe that guns should be banned in the United States, or at least have a stricter set of rules to them instead of a person being able to simply get a gun. I don’t believe that banning guns will stop all harm, but truth be told it would stop a lot. For example, if a guy were to walk into a store with a gun and threaten people, he would have a higher risk at killing them and or getting whatever he is there for, however if he walked in with a knife he wouldn't have such a high possibility. An
They say guns kill people, technically. People kill people. As if guns were able to walk around and shoot, which in this case they are not. So should guns be illegal, i think not.
The modern day anti-gun advocate will cry out that if guns were outlawed, then the violent crime rate would drop dramatically. However, this is the type of ignorance that creates these dangerous situations. If guns were still outlawed, the criminal with a desire to attain a gun would still be able to get them. Most violent criminals do not buy guns legally in the first place, so then why take that right from law abiding citizens? The crime rate does not come from the availability of firearms, but from the lack respect in today's society for other people's lives and property. If guns were made illegal, the same effect as de-legalizing narcotics and alcohol would resurface, absolutely nothing.
The most important reason guns should be taken away is clearly safety. According to BBC News, “Some 13,286 people were killed in the US by firearms in 2015, according to the Gun Violence Archive, and 26,819 people were injured [those
Guns are a part of American history, they helped free our country, and are used to protect us today. Guns have built up the identity of our nation as a whole, we used them in many wars and to separate ourselves from Britain in order to build our own country on our terms. The use of guns is protected in the Second Amendment, which says, “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” This amendment alone should be the end of this discussion, it was written by our founding members that we have guns for our own protection and use, (Should Gun Control Laws Be Enacted).
From the above mentioned, it is obvious that it is a genuine dilemma in our country and once again there has to be some sort of way to ban guns or either set a new law restricting or prohibiting the use of guns. Seven children and teens are killed with guns in the US on average day, this is a serious issue and has to be solved sooner or later before it becomes a bigger issue and causes more harm than it already has done to many innocent lives.
Guns must not be banned in the United States of America, but it is imperative that stricter gun control laws are put into place. Currently, there are many flaws in gun safety that need to be amended rather than banning guns altogether. These reasons include
In a world where we are constantly viewing violent acts, it's not really a surprise many may find guns to be a controversial weapons. Guns can be seen by many as way to find protection within themselves but other may see it as an act of violence waiting to happen. The reasonable act to take against guns would be simply banning them once and for all because it many seem as though if there are no guns at reach then there is really no more need to have fear. Although banning guns may seem like the best option many are opposed because they consider legal restraints against guns to be a weakness or even a form of self-imposed vulnerability towards attacks whether personal or terrorist. Those who see guns as a form of self-defense may find that to
I believe guns should be outlawed since there is no control. Since people with guns don’t seem to be responsible enough and the guns always end up in the wrong hands. Usually the people that commit crimes have stolen guns or guns that aren’t registered. The crime rate might decrease if guns are outlawed
