After teaching my first math lesson in a 3rd grade classroom at work experience, I was not sure on how good I taught the math lesson to the students. A few minutes before I was about to leave the classroom this little boy named John came up to me and said, “ Thank you for helping me learn my nines of multiplication.” I was so stunned at what he said, my heart sank into my chest and I could not stop smiling. I felt so accomplished that I just helped this little boy that was struggling with multiplication of nines for awhile. It felt rewarding knowing that he learned something from the lesson I just taught. From that experience, I definitely know that the education field is where I belong. With the love and support of the person that influences me in the education field, and my driven attitude and strong work ethic I think the education field is my fit. I plan to pursue a degree in the education field and will earn a teaching certificate in my post secondary education. Having experience of …show more content…
The teachers, they can point to and say, “That individual assisted me in becoming the person I am today.” For me, I have one special person that I can do that to. This individual is not only my favorite teacher, but very influential in my life. Katie Josef, my Ed Tech teacher, has shown me what true passion for the field of education looks like. I witness her upbeat personality, and get to experience the kindness she exuberates to her students on a daily basis. She drives the individuals in her class to succeed to their best ability. She inspires me to become an outstanding teacher in whatever field I choose to pursue. Mrs. J has shown me what a teacher that cares for her students truly looks like. With the love and support she shows, it is no mystery how she creates unbreakable bonds with her students- bonds that last for many years, even after a student's graduation. I desire to create these same bonds with my future
I have decided to pursue post-secondary education for various reasons. For instance, I am interested in particular subjects, such as Business and Applied Sciences, and would love to be able to study within these faculties while learning about something that captures my interest. I feel that by attending post-secondary, selecting and building a career would be much easier. After receiving a degree, chances of obtaining a good job with a well-established company will be greater and I hope to one day work as a software engineer for a major company such as Google or Microsoft. Another reason I wish to attend post-secondary is because I wish to help make a change in our world one day. Attending post-secondary will help me gain the knowledge and
I first became interested in teaching in my sophomore year in high school. My inspiration came from three amazing teachers who showed passion for their subject matter as well as a love for teaching. My desire to become a teacher was amplified by the many leadership and teaching roles that I took on while I was in Boy Scouts. While teaching in Boy Scouts I learned that teaching was what mattered most to me. Under my leadership, I helped advance many scouts to the rank of Eagle Scout as well as winning multiple awards at every summer camp that we attended. This was my jumping point into enrolling in Old Dominion University’s education program.
A high school teacher that has impacted my life is my 9th grade Geometry teacher, Mrs. Scully. Mrs. Scully has impacted my life from the very beginning. She has always been very caring and fun to be around. She is probably one of the most unique people in my life. She has always wanted me to do my best, and worked hard for me to understand the course. I was very troubled in mathematics, but the first time I received an 80 on a test in her class was the happiest moment for me. She is dedicated and she cares about you. She wants you to do good. I only had her for that year, but I still continue to see her. Sophomore and Junior year I would also use my tutoring time to be with her. I am now a senior class officer and she is our leader. She puts together senior activities and the officers help her. She influences me to be the very best person I can be. I see how she has these stylish cars and is overall happy with her life and committed to what she does. It’s inspiring and I can only wish to become as happy and successful as she is. She is a wonderful
Everyone has had that one teacher who inspired them, and who made coming to school every day worthwhile. My teacher was my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Eardly. She went above and beyond to be a good teacher to me, went out of her way to make sure I was taken care of, and inspired me to be a better person.
One of the influential people that made a huge impact in my life is my college professor who told me to never settle for less. She encouraged me to push the envelope and attempt to do things that are out-of-the-box. Her credentials and accomplishment in teaching is, for lack of a better word, overwhelming. She is strict, but fair. She saw my potential in teaching and told me that being a great teacher requires 4C's and 1P: competence, compassion, character, commitment, and passion. These are the things that remember by heart. Every time someone asks me who is my role model in teaching, I would always tell them that Mrs. Edith L. Ortega is the person I look up to up to this time. Even though she is nearing retirement, she still managed to keep
Going into the teaching profession has been my passion for quite some time now. Although teaching can have many different stereotypes and misconceptions, I still choose to continue towards this career. Every job has it’s own stereotypes and misconceptions. I currently work at a school, which has offered me a lot of on the job training for my future career. My current job has allowed me to see the different stereotypes and misconceptions that come along with the teaching career field. I am fortunate to already be working in my career field so I can prepare for the future stereotypes and misconceptions when I am a teacher of my own classroom.
My senior year of high school I sat in my moms car on the Purdue campus and cried over a pamphlet about veterinary medicine. I had worked myself to the bone for four years of high school and I was changing my mind completely after my acceptance. To many people it may not have seemed like a big deal at such a young age, however I am a planner. I like to know exactly what I am going to be doing and when exactly I will be doing it. To see the future that I had so painstaking planned fall apart was a scary experience. As my mom sat there thinking she asked me: "Samantha, what do you really enjoy? What is your passion? If you could pick any career regardless of the pay what would it be?" This was a tough question for me. I had chosen vet med specifically because of the high salary and my love of animals. The fact of the matter was I did not enjoy science and I really did not enjoy math. My heart was with history, government, and politics. As we drove home that day we bounced around several career options within my chosen fields. Coming into IUPUI I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do, thanks in big part to my internship at a local law office.
In my 12 years of being in school, I have had a lot of different experiences with many different teachers. Some good and some, unfortunately, bad. I have had many favorites and some teachers that I couldn't wait until I dint have their class again. One teacher that I am so Grateful to have had is my 7th grade geography teacher Mrs. Gribble. Mrs. Gribble inspired me to always go after what I wanted, do my best at all times, and live my life according to me.
Has someone ever made you feel welcome, taught you life lessons that would be helpful to your upcoming life, or someone that taught you something in a fun way so you actually liked learning? Someone like a teacher? A teacher is a person in our life who provides many important things including a good education. A teacher means a lot to his or her students. During the six hours a day during the 5 day a week can really impact a student's life. And I can only think of one teacher that really impacted my life- Mr. Miller.
Looking back at my education, school wasn't as important to me as it should have been. My favorite teachers at the time were teachers who let me get by. Now that I'm mature and wiser, I now know that those types of teachers were not suitable teachers. The teachers that I ostracized were in fact the more suitable teachers and they only wanted the best for me. Of those suitable teachers there is only one who still has an impact on my life and her name is Mrs. Brantley. Mrs. Brantley is distinct from many other teachers. She is a teacher whose main and only focus is the success of her students.
My life has been dramatically changed by the teachers in my life. From Mr. Brink, to my 8th grade science teacher Coach Bradley, the love, service, and patience I’ve seen reflected in my favorite teachers astounded me every time.
Throughout school I never valued my teachers in the ways I should have. I never tried to connect or bond with anyone, it was just school. Some teachers will go above and beyond to influence their students, and they are the ones who have a true passion for their career. As a kid I hated school, but what kid didn’t? We went because we had to and we longed for going home. Out of all the teachers I’ve had as a young kid, one teacher I will never forget was my 2nd grade teacher, Ms. Nix.
The teacher that has inspired me to further my education is Mrs.Vera. Before Mrs.Vera became my teacher she was my cheerleading coach. Even while she was my cheerleading coach she taught me things that I did not know about myself. When I started cheerleading I was very shy and did not speak unless I was spoken to. Mrs.Vera helped me come out of shell during cheerleading so I could work on speaking to others. She really got me involved more with the team and she made me do things that would teach me how to be a leader and not a follower. Now thanks to Mrs.Vera I have made friends that I will have for the rest of my life.
This past year has been both a new and difficult experience which has provided me with a new motive to pursue my goal of a higher education. My mother and I have been staying in British Columbia because I would like to finish the International Baccalaureate Diploma and pursue post-secondary schooling in Canada, while my father is currently living in America. My family has been separated in order to maintain my education and pursue my goals. I will be the first in my family to pursue a post-secondary education. Due to the sacrifices made by my family, I would like to not only accomplish my goal of attending further education but I would also like to make my parents proud. The past year had opened my eyes to the importance trying the best in
The one teacher that will always have a enormous impact on my future and how I teach is Mrs. Moss. I had the opportunity to job shadow her a couple years back and it was an unforgettable experience. When the students were in other classes, I got to ask her questions that also helped me get an understanding of how hard she worked. She told me about the good parts of teaching, the negative parts of teaching, what was hard, what was easy, and we talked about some of her past experinces. This opened my eyes to see that not everyday in the classroom is sunshine and butterflies however, she showed me that no matter the day it is the teachers job to make it great. You (the teacher) are possibly one of the first few faces they see in the morning, your comments and gestures may influence how their entire day
