• Around the world today, many different kinds of animals are harmed and left defenseless.
• Large companies such as L’Oréal, Colgate and Palmolive kill and torture animals so the society can buy their products.
• Companies are paid huge amounts of money, where they go through a process of killing and damaging the animal for life.
• Companies do not care about how much they torture the animal, but how much money they get.
• Animals are left blind, cancerous and in pain where eventually they die.
• A quote from an experimenter showed his view on animal testing “Because the animals are like us.” Experimenters were asked why it is ok to test animals the answer would be “Because the animals are not like us.”
• On the other hand some scientists
Animal testing is very wrong, but at the same time is right. I personally think is very wrong. An estimate of 26 million animals is tested every year in the United states for scientific and commercial testing. Animals are used to develop medical treatments, to see how medications work, to check the safety on products made for humans, and for health care uses. Experimenting on animals was happening since 500 B.C. Some people think experimenting on animals is cruel and wrong. Also that animals are so different from human beings. In other hands, people say they are able to develop numerous life-saving treatment for both humans and animals.
Many animals are born with their family, in the open wild where they can live their lives as animals, however additionally many other animals are born to become test subjects or to be experimented on. Some may argue that these tests and experiments will lead to a better cause, however there are many different reasons why testing animals is bad and have been proven to not be successful to the human society.
When it comes to the topic of animal testing, most of us will readily agree that supporters believe its wrong for people to test animals for cures, and interfere with their lives. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of the animal testing there is no alternative method for researching living organism, and the mistreatment of animals in the laboratories. Where some are convinced that animal testing is cruel and inhumane to experiment on animals. There is alternative method to research that can replace animal testing. Animals are different from human, as they research them and found out that its irrelevant results. Animals don’t have the cognitive ability or the morals standards like we do as humans. I see if the researchers
Animals are supposed to be to be in the wild. Another example is, they catch mice just for experiments. The author of “Save the animals” states,” Animals do not willingly sacrifice themselves for the advancement of human welfare and new technology.” They go through pain just like us. For example when they are testing drugs they have to get so many injections. The article states,” When animals are used for product toxicity testing or laboratory research, they are subject to painful and frequently deadly experiments.” They are supposed to be able to run free and be able to live a long and healthy life. STOP THE
Mahatma Gandhi once said, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” Gandhi makes a really firm point by saying that the moral situation of a country or nation can be seen by the way they treat animals. Then why does millions of animals die each year due to animal experimentation. Animal experimentation is inhumane and morally wrong. Also scientifically it is unreliable due to the unknown variables that scientists cannot figure out. The hidden truth is that ninety percent of drugs that pass animal tests fail in humans. Animal experimentation has lost its reliability and ethical values against both humans and animals. Many animals are burned, crushed, shocked, poisoned, and infected.
Although most humans identify the majority of animals as pets or companions, there are many people who do not believe in animal rights at all. Millions of companies have been using animals for research and testing for years and possibly even centuries. There are people who actually believe that animals have no other use than to better medical research and experiments. Most companies argue that it is beneficial to humans to use animals for research and of course that makes the issue seem justified to some. No matter the reason behind the testing, whether it be for medical reasons, product safety or even veterinary testing for other animals, there is absolutely no justification for the act of using an actual living creature for testing or research.
Imagine your best friend is very ill and there is only one medicine to help to keep them alive. Would you rather a rat in a lab test the medicine or let your best friend die from the illness? Animal testing is ethical. You may be thinking “there is many problems with animal testing”,but human lives are more important than animal lives.
Over one million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in U.S. labs alone annually. In addition to the millions of animals being tested upon, many are raised to perform in harsh conditions, such as fighting, stage performing, and for show. These situations tend to diminish the animals’ health, jeopardize the animals’ lives, and promote animal abuse. Many people are unaware of the harsh conditions the animals are put into behind the scenes. Granted that some people know about the harsh realities of animal cruelty, not enough is being done to protect these animals. More restrictions must be put on corporations and other animal related businesses to ensure the animals’ well being.
If this cruelty has been going on for so long why has it not ceased by now? We didn’t have the technological advancements to replace animals but coming up on the 21st century we have found tools and devices that can work effectively and stop the killing. There are many other methods to testing products and it doesn’t have to be at the expense of animals’ lives.
Nobody can ignore the pain and suffering of another without feeling some type of sympathy and or guilt. This is why when presenting the issue of animal welfare, most if not all will lean toward the humane treatment of livestock. However, there is nothing humane about skinning, chopping up, and serving a living creature to other living creature. Agencies such as the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) can’t fret over mental and physical conditions of the animals if they have to focus on feeding over 320 million people in the U.S.. There are a concrete set of principles that enables companies to produce food in any manner that will guarantee mass production of safe (edible) food at a low cost, with no concern on what conditions the livestock are in. This barrier protecting these companies would be difficult to amend without igniting a series of issue of the structure of our society.
PETA is also trying their best to make a big deal out of this and draw as much attention as possible for the animal’s own rights and simply to raise awareness on the ongoing problem. I think PETA is representing a truth with the business and they do have the right to make attacks to get them to make the change.
Several companies, like Perdue, make claims that their animals are treated righteously, live happy, and healthy lives, however, the movie Food Inc. sheds light on how corporate business has
A. AGD Have you ever met any weird kids in school who like to be mean to animals in their spare time? I have. It always confused me, I don’t know how anyone can treat an animal like a lifeless object. However, what scares me more isn’t what kids sometimes do to a stray dog or cat, but what huge companies do to animals to make your money.
Animal science has been around for many years. The definition of animal science is an understanding of basic knowledge through experience and research that is related to the breeding, feeding, care, and management of animals and the marketing and processing of animals and their products. Today, there are large majority of people who are uneducated about where the food on their table comes from. Today’s society has many misconceptions about animal treatment in the industry. This is important because often times farmers and ranchers get accused for things that are not harmful but helpful to the production of meat and animal welfare.
“Before their deaths, some are forced to inhale toxic fumes, others are immobilized in restraint devices for hours, some have holes drilled into their skulls, and others have their skin burned off or their spinal cords crushed.” (PETA association, 2014) For many years, people have been killing animals to perform tests on them. This needs to stop, humans are abusing animals by conducting harmful experiments on the animals. The abuse and testing can lead to death of the animal. These animals are all suffering from exploitation through cosmetic testing, medical training, and chemical/drug testing.
