Work Experience Between June 30th to July 14th, I had the most nervous and prominent moment of my life, I went to work for the first time of my 15 years life.
I felt exciting fervent and passionate, after a scrutinising and strict interview with my boss Ralph Cohen. Wondering what will it be like to work like a mature adult?
On June 30th the first day of work. I woke up early, and feel sceptical about what'll the following 2 weeks be like.

I push open the store door; with myriad abstract paradox that I question with chill and fright about the way I should carry out my work. Bumping straight into the shadow of my boss Mr Cohen a gigantic and masculine man that seems to have a lot of respect among his staff, but is very scrtinous and sceptical about the store and staff standard. He greets my arrival keenly, but promptiously, and commands the staffs to give me a brief tour and talk about the different places and daily working procedures of the store. The staffs who gave me the tour seems to be more caring and willing to answer my doubted queries, comparing to the boss, who was always busy and promptious at scrutinating the state of store, and checking the store finance balance. I was quickly given my first tasks, after the tour. It shock me hearing that the tasks I've been given involve vastly of manual work, instead of more academic work, relevant to my present experience and knowledge, that I gain in school. The tasks of managing the store stock, needs years of experience, good strategical thinking skills, plus having top physical state. It is very hard for me to complete the tasks, as I didn't posses any above qualities, without constant consultation with the staffs. Fortunately most of the staff is very caring and explanative to most of my doubts and queries, teaching me lots of
While working or while looking for work there are certain skills sets that are universally important. No matter what job or career path you have chosen these skills make it easier to obtain your goals, whatever they may be.
During the late nineteenth century through the mid-twentieth century, many Chinese and Japanese people immigrated to the United States, specifically to the West Coast, under the belief that they would be not only be welcomed and accepted but that they would also be able to start fresh with their lives and become successful. However, once they arrived on the coast they experienced intense inhospitality, mistreatment, and great hardships. They felt that they were misled by the United States promoting friendship and welcoming arms and claiming that all American citizens and immigrants alike could achieve the great “American Dream” with a little work.
Our client, Sue Davis, was in a car accident in Yankton, South Dakota. Sue sustained massive head injuries, and the paramedics did not think that she would make it to the hospital alive. Once all was said and done Sue incurred $400,000.00 in medical bills, $45,000.00 in lost wages, and $50,000.00 in property damage to her Bentley.
The purpose of this field experience is to identify key issues of concern for high school guidance counselors. I had the opportunity to have an email exchange with two different guidance counselors about their major concerns. David Tedeschi, was my own guidance counselor when I was at Feinstein High School, he has dedicated his life to motivate and support students through their high school career. Throughout my time in high school and now devoting his time at Jorge Alvarez High School, David has had an array of challenges and issues that surround him daily. The second counselor is Betty Dion and she is at Woonsocket High School. I was able to see and experience the challenges Betty went through because of the previous work position I was
In the competitive world today, having a college degree might not benefit a student as much as before, thus opening up numerous questions concerning its necessity. Not only is the number of students desperately trying to enroll in college increasing, but the tuition shoots up as well. However, will college enrollment necessarily be enough to increase your chances of attaining job security? The answer is hotly debated amongst adults and students alike, which opens up the second option for students, that is, joining the work force. Although this option is generally shunned by the new generation, the tough economy and slow restoration makes it quite a desirable choice at the moment. Joining the work force is a hard decision to make as it
Now a day employers look for many skills in workers. There are many reasons why worker are not get a job or they are getting fired, but there is one reason why that is happening. That reason is that many employers need people with good skills, qualities and attributes. There are many workers out there, who don’t have the skills that are need in the current workforce. Well that is going to change and there the career and work counsellor come in. “For years, employers have been aware of employee engagement and maintenance issues in their workplaces. I observed and analyzed the design and delivery of an instructional unit in a Montessori school setting. I observed a classroom of grades 1-3 two times from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Kennebec Montessori school. I was asked to sit quietly and to not interact with the children so I could get a realistic view of the class day and the children would pursue their chosen work.
the end of the week some of them could to these tasks. I also helped
When I think of the word interview I think of it as a series of questions asked from one person to another to seek information. In my previous assessment we were asked to interview a fellow peer, on their personal experience of QIBT so far this year. We were not given any question, but made to think of our own. As we were interviewing our peer another peer was marking us on our overall ability to interview. This piece of reflective writing will be an explanation of what I thought my personal strengths and weaknesses were throughout my interview.
Individual and expert advancement helps to expel the negative contemplations that keep us from making strides towards self-change. We frequently kick back and sit tight for a yearly execution audit to distinguish regions we have to make strides. Position ourselves to be responsible, enhance our range of abilities, and ceaselessly learn by setting individual benchmarks and checking on them routinely are some of the key elements of success. Employability has been defined as "the capability of getting and keeping satisfactory work". Graduate employers across all industries want more than just a degree; they want graduates who can demonstrate a wide range of skills, attributes and knowledge, often called ‘employability skills’. Graduate businesses over all ventures need something beyond a degree; they need graduates who can exhibit an extensive variety of abilities, properties and information, regularly called 'employability aptitudes'. It was in December, during my Christmas vacation, when I decided to start looking for a summer job. There were many options but the job I decided to apply for was a position as a lifeguard at a waterpark. I filled out an application and was accepted almost immediately. The only thing left was the lifeguard training; little did I know that it was going to be an experience I would never forget.
Work can cause many issues with oneself and society. There can be a inner struggle in someone if they don’t like their job. Society can cause the discussion of jobs to become a controversial topic. In the poems “Lady In The Pink Mustang” by Louise Erdrich, “The Restaurant Business” by James Tate, and “So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs From Americans” by Jimmy Santiago Baca, the authors use divisions and conflicts to make readers see a bigger picture.
Job satisfaction is the very important factor in general quality of life because it is closely connected with working life (e.g. Argyle, 1989; Bang & Lee, 2006), with family life, everyday life, and mental health (Orpen, 1978; Schmitt and Bedeian, 1982; Faragher, Cass & Cooper, 2005). Level of job satisfaction is also highly related to turnover, absenteeism rate, work productivity or accomplishment (Muchinsky, 1977; Organ, 1977). Many researchers (e.g. Cherrington, 1994; Acorn, Ratner & Crawford, 1997; Ostroff, 1992; Spector, 1997) state that employees who experience high job satisfaction contribute to organisational commitment, job involvement, their physical, mental health and overall well-being are improved. Job dissatisfaction on the
The scent of fresh waffles, sound of radio pop music, light from the open sign. Just another long day at work. Everything is just like the usual. Restock utensils, greet customers, take orders, collect payments, and clean up. At seventeen, wanting to save up for my post-secondary tuition, I decided to work a part time job alongside school. I thought that not only does it give me money, it can also give me valuable work experience. Working at a part time job sounds like a perfect opportunity for me. However, after this experience, my perspective of working in the service industry completely changed.
