Throughout my early teen years, I was exposed to different mediums of art and discovered that I could express myself through more channels than just paper. Although Barry found comfort in her 11 x 17 newsprint and some paint, I was able to focus my energy on making music and taking photographs. Without my art teachers, I wouldn’t have the expressive outlet I do today. My childhood was not filled with unhappiness as Lynda Barry’s was, but from both backgrounds, we found a warmth from the exposure of art that the educational system gave to us.
Ten year after her second marriage happiness surprised Julia, she knew the man who became her third husband. The true companero for the women she had become. Maria Sol Escobar was born on May 22nd, 1930, to Venezuelan parents in Paris, France. She had a very rough upbringing after her mother suicided when she was only eleven years of age. This unfortunate event affected Maria deeply, this may have been her inspiration to pursue what she is known for to this day, which was art. Although Marisol was deeply traumatized, this did not affect her artistic talents. Learning to draw early in life, with her parents encouraging her talent by taking her to museums. Her talents in drawing frequently earned her artistic prizes at the various schools she attended before settling in Los Angeles in 1946. Although being introduced to a
In contrast, to the educational opportunities we have in our personal present days, Sor Juana was deprived of the knowledge that she undeniably craved. She was able to teach herself how to read in her grandfather’s library at only three years old even though her mother (and primary educator at the time) was illiterate. While she
Each Sunday, I leave church with inspired to try to make a difference in someone’s life that day. Currently, by devoting my time to community services through National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society—to which I am a Co-President of—I am able to spread warmth to others. However, in the future, I imagine myself doing so as a secondary art education teacher. A goal of mine is to make art exciting, the reason why students attend school. I plan to enter work each day inspiring others to smile. I want to provide unlimited comfort, guidance, and motivation to students. My catholic faith has taught me to continue helping others even if they appear as if they do not want it, and Link Crew, a selective student ambassador program, has shown me how to go about accomplishing this. I am not afraid to step outside of my comfort zone and step up to be a leader. Therefore, I have confidence in accomplishing all I endeavor as an educator. Nonetheless, I still possess the desire to inspire through personal construction.
As a scholarship boy, Rodriguez received many years of schooling and kept moving away from family as the time in education passed. This was what Rodriguez chosen before he actually realized his long for past. Once he admitted his nostalgia, he chose to physically leave academy and back home to stay with his family. At the end of his essay, he summarized his gain from his schooling, which is ‘Ways of speaking and caring’ himself or, in other word, discover the true behind reality. The importance of education is seen in the goals of society from the dominance of math and science to launch the space race, to the back-to-basics program in order to improve world education ranking and ensure America as a strong educational nation. As a teacher I hope to enrich the lives of students and educated them to the best of my ability. Furthermore, I hope to set an example for students that is based on respect, truth, honor and fairness. Students come from diverse backgrounds and struggle to reach individual goals. As a teacher, I am obligated to see those challenges and help students set and meet their goals. For students in my classroom, that of an art class, must also deal with expression and individual ideas that will allow students to interpret their surroundings.

I never in my life did expect one day to write an essay for the Spanish Travel Scholarship and to write it in English! Fifteen year ago I was a typical Italian architecture student who, beyond doubt, had not yet established her role in the local, national, and global community, or her purpose in life. I spent my college years making my parents proud, and fulfilling teachers’ expectations. Nevertheless architecture wasn’t my college decision. It was my dad’s dream. When I was six years of age, he lost his engineering firm because of a stroke. He reinvented himself various times, after the stroke, but he has never been able to rebuild his engineering firm from the ashes. My architecture degree was his last opportunity to reopen his beloved
When I was a little girl nothing was more gratifying than lining all my stuff animals and dolls up with paper and pencils. It gave me great pleasure to stand in front of them and share my intellectual knowledge. I played school for as long as I can remember and that is where the love for my career choice started. When I got older and started going to school I noticed that there were not only normal kids there were also other children who needed extra attention and who were is special classrooms. I started taking an interest in the special education students, so I decided that I not only wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to be a special education teacher. For as long as I can remember, college has always been in my future. After realizing that I wanted to be a special education teacher, I started searching for colleges that fit my career plan. I found that Illinois State University was interesting and has an outstanding Special Education Program. I will be attending Illinois State University in 2016 getting a B.A.Degree in Special Education focusing on Severe & Profound population.
