A group of entrepreneurs has launched a privately funded spaceship and has created the beginnings of the space tourism industry. The Ansari X Prize Foundation announced that it would award $10 million to the first private company that would fly a manned rocket into space and return safely. Many entrepreneurs competed for the prize but one called Space Ship One succeeded first. It was designed by Burt Rutan, owner of a company that sells build-it-yourself airplanes and was funded by Paul Allen, co-founder of Mierosoft. The long-term goal of the X Prize is to create an affordable space tourism industry where trips to other planets become common for all people. QUESTIONS

- HighFlyer Airlines wants to build new airplanes with greatly increased cabin space. This will allow HighFlyer Airlines to give passengers more comfort and sell more tickets at a higher price. However, redesigning the cabin means rethinking many other elements of the airplane as well, like engine and luggage placement, and the most efficient shape of the plane for moving through the air. HighFlyer Airlines has developed a list of possible methods to increase cabin space, along with estimates of how these approaches would affect the planes operating costs and ticket sales. Based on these estimates, Table 13.5 shows the value of R, how much should the firm invest in R on top of the private return; that is, an R private return to HighFlyer Airlines would have a 9 social return. How much investment is socially optimal at the 6 interest rate? Please awnser following questions and tell me which multiple choices are correct only please thank you 16 "Creative destruction" is the name given to: Select one or more: a. And the 2,719 people employed byhotels produced 554,400 hotel stays (measured by the number of visitor arrivals).Suppose that this production point is efficient in production. Assume also that theopportunity cost of 1 additional metric ton of fish is 2,000 hotel stays and that thisopportunity cost is constant (the opportunity cost does not change).a. If all 306 registered fishermen were to be employed by hotels (in addition to the2,719 people already working in hotels), how many hotel stays could Bermudaproduce?
- Karen goes to the casino with 1000$ and plays the following strategy: In her first game, she putsin 1$. If she wins, she finishes playing and takes her profit home. If she looses a game, she willplay another game and put in twice as much money as she did in the previous game. If she wins, she will finish playing and take her profits home. She will keep going with that strategy, untilshe either wins a game or runs out of money.(a) Create a table for n = 1, 2, ..., 10 which lists: (a) The amount of money she puts in in game n;(b) the sum of the amount of money she has put in in all games up to this game n; and (c)her overall profit if the game n is the first game she wins.(b) What is the likelihood of her loosing 8 games in a row?(c) How many games can she loose in a row before she cannot afford to continue with herstrategy of doubling her bet?(d) Given the low likelihood of loosing, is this a smart strategy for Karen to pursue?CNG Pipeline Company At the weekly brainstorming session, John Spychalski, president of CNG Pipeline Company (CNG), suggested that they build a new pipeline from Elizabeth, New Jersey, to the Midwest to move refined petroleum products, gasoline, and diesel fuel. Following some discussion, he asked the strategic planning group to consider the idea before the next brown-bag session. Skip Grenoble, vice president for strategic planning, thought that John was not con- sidering the cost and impact of this idea. How could CNG obtain land to build the pipe- line, let alone obtain the necessary capital to finance the project? Then there was the question of the existing refineries located in Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Skip knew refined petroleum products were being transported from the Gulf of Mexico refineries via barge and pipeline to the Midwest market areas currently. Skip turned over the project to Evelyn Thomchick, chief strategy analyst, to develop a preliminary analysis of the…3. The professorspeaks with each student separately and offers the followingdeal: Sign a statement admitting to cheating. If both studentssign the statement, each will receive an “F” for the course. - Envision that the territory of South Dakota chooses to put resources into K-12 instruction by taking care of the expense of a Computers for each student. It concludes that it will contribute $15 billion today since it accepts it will result in $22 billion of advantages in 5 years, and an extra $52 billion of every 20 years. Utilizing a rebate pace of 0.05, is the undertaking a Kaldor-Hicks working on one? Should the province of South Dakota seek after the speculation? Do you believe that outcome would change with a rebate pace of 3%? 7%? You don't have to work out these in calculation; simply examine what might almost certainly happen to the end-product.Exercise 3.17 (competitive product market interac- tions). There is a mass 1 of identical entrepreneurs with the variable-investment technology described in Section 3.4. The representative entrepreneur has wealth A, is risk neutral, and is protected by limited liability. Denote the average investment by I and the indi- vidual investment i (in equilibrium i = I by symme- try but we need to distinguish the two in a first step in order to compute the competitive equilibrium). A project produces Ri units of goods when successful and 0 when it fails. The probability of success is pH in the case of good behavior (the entrepreneur receives no private benefit) and pL = pH − ∆p in the case of misbehavior (the entrepreneur then receives private benefit Bi). Assume that it is optimal to induce the entrepreneur to behave. The market price of output is P = P(Q), with P' 0, where Q is aggregate production (with P(Q) tend- R ≡ RS…6.
