Which ventricle is surrounded by the diencephalon?
To review:
The ventricle, which is surrounded by diencephalon.
Introduction:
The human brain is divided into four regions, which are cerebral hemisphere, diencephalon, brain stem, and cerebellum. The brain also contains four ventricles (the word ventr means “little belly”), which helps in communication with different parts of the brain.
Explanation of Solution
Ventricles in the human brain are communication networks of cavities lined by ependymal cells and filled with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). There are four ventricles, which are present in the brain and these are paired ventricle, lateral ventricle, third ventricle, and fourth ventricle.
The third ventricle is surrounded by diencephalon and it connects with the lateral ventricle by a channel known as interventricular foramen.
Thus, it can be concluded that ventricles are fluid-filled communicating cavities present in the brain. There are four ventricles present in the brain. Among them, the third ventricle is surrounded by diencephalon.
