Concept explainers
What do we call the body’s specialized cells that monitor specific internal or external conditions?
To identify:
The specialized cells of body that monitor the specific internal and external conditions.
Introduction:
The sensory information passes through the neurons in the central nervous system is responsible to monitor the functions of all over the body. This can be done through the sensory receptors.
The sensory receptors are the specialized cells responsible for monitoring the specific conditions of the body and external environment.
Explanation of Solution
The sensations are the important part of our life and are created by the sensory receptors. During stimulation an action potential is propagated along the axon of a sensory neuron, which is generated by receptors is then further relayed to other neurons present in the path. The signal is processed in CNS where it is finally delivered.
The sensory receptors react with the physical stimulus in external environment. The sensory cells also act as detecting cells they can detect the changes in the internal and external environment
