Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Acute mountain sickness (AMS) is also called altitude sickness. It takes place in high altitude regions due to low levels of oxygen, usually above 2,400 meters above sea level. Its symptoms include shortness of breath and nausea. It can be treated by taking sufficient fluids and descending down to lower altitude.
