Introduction:

Gametogenesis is a process by which haploid gametes are formed. The sperm and ovum are the male and female gametes, respectively, formed with the help of processes called spermatogenesis and oogenesis, respectively. The haploid gametes are formed from diploid germ cells. Spermatogenesis occurs in the seminiferous tubules of the testis and oogenesis occurs in the outermost layer of the ovaries.
