A. The real-world business position we will be analyzing is whether a surgical services team is able to provide surgical case turnover times that are within the national norm. The information being gathered is from the institution's last year of surgical cases in 2021.
A1.
See above
A1a.
N/A
A2.
Is there a considerable difference between average surgical case turnover times and the standard surgical case turnover time of 15 minutes? A3.
Analyzing this real-world business situation would benefit the institution by revealing the case turnover times for future use to improve case turnover efficiency, if need be, and to ensure the surgical team is functioning efficiently. If the turnover times are below average or more than the 15-minute standard, the data could be utilized to improve the turnover times by utilizing ideas to increase the turnover and a performance improvement measure could be put into place. A4.
Surgical case turnover times from the institution for the year of 2021 will be utilized to collect data. A minimum of 30 surgical case turnovers will be collected from the institution to ensure reliability of the data. A5.
A minimum of 30 case turnover times will be collected from the surgical case log for the institution. The times will be gathered in minutes and randomly picked throughout the year.
A6.
The statistical method that will be used to examine the data acquired
is the one sample t-Test Analysis. This method will provide credible proof as to whether surgical case turnover times are within the average 15-minute range by comparing the mean.
A6a.
This data analysis technique was selected to demonstrate whether surgical case turnover times were within range of the average 15-
minute standard. The one sample t-Test is an appropriate choice for analysis of this data because we can use the mean of the data collected to compare with the average standard time mean. B.

will have operating and energy costs of $4,350 per year.
Determine the average rate of return on the equipment, giving effect to straight-line depreciation on the investment. If required, round to the nearest

The YuRaeKa charity was established in 1960. The charity’s aim is to provide support to children from disadvantaged backgrounds who wish to take part in sports such as tennis, badminton, squash, basketball and football.
YuRaeKa has a detailed constitution[1] which explains how the charity’s income can be spent. The constitution also notes that administration expenditure cannot exceed 10% of income in any year.
The charity’s income is derived wholly from voluntary donations. Sources of donations include:

Part 1
(Comprehensive Problem) Suppose that you are in the fall of your senior year and are faced with the choice of either getting a job when you graduate or going to law school. Of course, your choice is not purely financial. However, to make an informed decision you would like to know the financial implications of the two alternatives. Let's assume that your alternatives are as follows:
If you take the "get a job" route you expect to start off with a salary of
$35,000
per year. There is no way to predict what will happen in the future, your best guess is that your salary will grow at
4
percent per year until you retire in
42
years. As a law student, you will be paying
$30,000
per year tuition for each of the
3
years you are in graduate school. However, you can then expect a job with a starting salary of
$75,000
per year. Moreover, you expect your salary to grow by
7
percent per year until you retire
36
years later.
Clearly, your…

Shipping constitutes a large part of the budget for online retailers. One such retailer ships fragile items that occasionally
get broken and have to be replaced/re-shipped. Historically, 8% of these items have gotten broken during shipping.
(a)If an item is shipped, what is the probability that it does not get broken? In other words, what is P(not broken)? Express
your answer as a decimal rounded to two decimal places.
(b) If the retailer ships 4 separate items, what is the probability that none will be broken during shipping? Express your
answer as a decimal rounded to three decimal places.

Rancho Cucamonga Inc. began business on January 1, 2020. The firm earned $100 from sales in its first year of business. Rancho Cucamonga collected $90 of revenue earned in cash during 2020 and reported a $10 account receivable on its 2020 balance sheet. The firm paid $70 cash for operating expenses in 2020 and reported a $5 account payable for unpaid operating expenses on its 2020 balance sheet. Income tax laws only recognize cash collected from sales and cash paid for expenses as taxable items in the year collected or paid.
Rancho Cucamonga also reported a $10 fine, paid in cash, to the federal government for unfair business practices. Generally accepted accounting principles allow firms…

Don Carson and two colleagues are considering opening a law office in a large metropolitan area to make inexpensive
legal services available to people who cannot otherwise afford these services. They intend to provide easy access for
their clients by having the office open 360 days per year, 16 hours each day from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. A lawyer,
paralegal, legal secretary, and clerk-receptionist would staff the office for each of the two 8-hour shifts.
To determine the feasibility of the project, Don hired a marketing consultant to assist with market projections. The
consultant's results show that if the firm spends $538,000 on advertising the first year, the number of new clients
expected each day would have the following probability distribution:
