SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION DISCUSSION 1.  Who should receive training on the new software, and what topics should be training cover?  Without getting knee deep into the weeds, the first piece of useful information I would look at before answering the question is who currently uses the Peachtree Software & who does the company want to be trained on the new software package.  Training should be provided to those individuals. To answer the above question based on the information provided, I would recommend starting with the account department and/or individual that handles the accounting duties. The topics that should be covered are cash flow & invoicing, payments & banking, advanced inventory management, job & project cost, and reporting.  The next recommendation for training would upper management i.e. supervisors, managers, assistant managers, and the distract managers, since they are responsible for their store(s) with in the chain. Typically upper management has roles in inventory control, cash flow, potential job & project cost, invoicing, and payments & banking.  The last group would be optional for training on the new system and they would be the sales or cashiers, since they handle the day to day transaction.  The topics might be payments & banking and invoicing. 2. Go online and investigate the Sage 50 product to learn whether it can import and upload existing data.   Sage 50 Accounting, formerly Peachtree, is the classic software that simplifies your everyday accounting tasks and provides the insights to run your business more efficiently. Peachtree accounting software, now known as Sage 50, per the SAGE Website. Peachtree is now Sage 50 Accounting   You can import data from Comma Separated files (*.csv) and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets (*.xls and *.xlsx). You can import data into Sage 50 Peachtree for a number of reasons including: o To add information to Sage 50 Peachtee from other software. o To add or amend information on batches of records, without having to edit each individual record. Peachtree Sage 50 data import / export from Excel 3.  What changeover strategy would you suggest for the new accounting system? Explain your answer.  The four changeover methods are as follows: Direct, Parallel, Phased, and Pilot.  Of these four changeover methods the two that I would recommend are Parallel or Phased. With Parallel until the new system works correctly the new and old system are used together.  This is very time consuming but the plus side of this method is that if there are any problems with the new system they can easily be identified by comparing the output of the two systems  and it is also easy to revert back to using the old system.  With the Phased method the new system is tried out on a small scale to see if it works i.e. maybe at the main store while the old system is still in place at the other stores. If the new system works well and the main store is happy with the new system, the old system can gradually be replaced at the remaining stores.  I would recommend the Phased Method but give them the option of either Parallel or Phase because both changeover methods have more pros than cons in my opinion. 4. When should a post-implementation evaluation be conducted? Explain your answer.  The optimum time after implementation to conduct the assessment depends upon the nature of the project. Six months to one year after implementation is typical. The assessment MUST be completed within 18 months of project completion. POST- IMPLEMENTATION EVALUATION REPORT - 4947    I would perform a post- implementation evaluation between two months and six months which should allow the management to have a good grasp of the new system and follow up with an assessment or questionnaire within six months to a year.  The assessment would help keep track of the user's understanding and knowledge of the new system plus the assessment would help to show the level of satisfaction with the new system.
